I warned you from the start

The next day morning,

It was another Saturday and Carl was in a bright mood feeling enthusiastic like he woke up from the right side of the bed. He had been visualizing and replaying the kiss of him and Anne in his head from last night and whenever he thought of that, he chuckled inwardly.

The time was 11 a.m. and Carl was already prepared to see Anne at her house. Today, he felt it was okay to ask Anne how she felt when they kissed last night. He also planned on taking her out to spend some quality time with her. He couldn't wait to have her in his arms again.

He knows that Anne is starting to fall for him and he didn't want to mess it up. He wanted her to grow more in love with him and that is why he was still trying as hard as he could to impress Anne and always be on her good side.

Currently, he was outside his mansion walking to his Bentley SUV with a beautiful bouquet of lavender roses in his hand which smelled so good. He was putting on a casual outfit, consisting of black jean trousers and a blue short-sleeved shirt.

Carl got into his car and dropped the flowers on the shotgun seat. "Today is going to be a good day," he said to himself, smiling, and then, he started his car.

He was driving to Anne's house feeling more optimistic than ever. He loved how she smiled whenever she received flowers from him and he couldn't wait to see her smile again. Besides, her smile drives him crazy.

Shortly, Carl arrived at the doorstep of Anne's house and knocked at her door.

After hearing the knock, Anne came out of her room to get to the door. She was putting on an oversized black tee shirt that almost covered the bum shorts she was wearing. Her smooth silky jet-black hair was let down cascading her back with a pink fashion headband around her head.

She opened the door and saw Carl standing outside with the bouquet of lavender roses partly covering his face.

"Can I come in?" Carl said and Anne opened the widely for him to get in. Her brother, Dexter wasn't at home, it was just her.

"These are for you," he said, handing her the bouquet.

"Thanks" Anne muttered, collecting them.

Unlike Carl, Anne had a rough night trying to sleep. Her eyes were opened till dawn. She wasn't able to sleep because she couldn't get the scenario of her kiss with Carl off her mind. She thought about it throughout the night.

"Are you okay?" Carl asked Anne and she nodded.

"Are you sure?" he asked again because he noticed how dull she looked.

"Yes I am," Anne said dropping the flowers on the couch.

Carl suspected something was off with Anne because she usually collects the flowers from him before he says a word and hugs him tightly with a cute smile on her face like she was really happy to see him. But this time, she had a gloomy expression.

Carl walked closer to her and held her chin "There's something wrong please tell me what it is" he asked with a lot of concern.

"There's nothing wrong, I'm perfectly fine," Anne said, removing his hand from her face.

Carl felt a little awkward as Anne took his hand away from her face. He thought she was probably in a bad mood today because they were okay the last time they met, in fact, they kissed.

Carl exhaled. "I'm sorry I was being too clingy... and It seems you're not in a good mood," He said in a low tone.

"But if you'll let me, I could make your day better, I wanted us to go out together and have some fun... We could as well go shopping" Carl sounded more enthusiastic to brighten her mood but Anne's facial expression didn't change. She had a blank look on her face.

"Actually, now that you're here, we should talk about last night," Anne said.

A smile played on Carl's lips. He knows that Anne was referring to the kiss they shared last night. The only thing is that he wasn't expecting Anne to bring it up first

"What about last night?" he asked to tease her

Anne inhaled deeply as the flashes of the kiss from last night replayed on her head again. Reminiscing about the moment made her bit down her bottom lip and she subconsciously let her hand run through her neck.

"Anne, are you alright?" Carl asked suspiciously and Anne immediately came back to her senses.

"mmm mmm" she cleared her throat, maintaining a stoic expression.

"I wanna talk about the kiss," she said and Carl smiled.

"Cool... I also wanted to talk to you about the kiss. I wanted to ask you how you felt when we kissed last night but I held back because I didn't want to make you feel awkward." he said "Last night I felt like the happiest man in the world. I loved every second of our kiss, I couldn't stop thinking about it, and I…"

"…And it shouldn't have happened!" Anne interrupted in a high-pitched voice.

Carl gave Anne a confused look. It was like his ears were playing tricks on him. "What do you mean?" he asked.

"I said that kiss shouldn't have happened. What happened last night was just a moment of weakness." Anne said sternly.

"moment of weakness?" Carl muttered, looking at her with squinted eyes. He was still confused by her statement and his heart wasn't ready to accept what she just said.

"Yeah! it was a mistake that never should've happened" Anne said and folded her arms.

She was trying her best not to show any emotion but her eyes were failing her. Staring at her eyes alone will make you doubt what her lips were saying. They were saying two different things.

Sadly, Anne still feels insecure about relationships and she was scared that being emotionally attached to Carl would only cause her pain in the end. Carl was just too perfect for her liking and that was what scared her the most.

The way her heart races whenever Carl was around her bothered her. However, there was no doubt that the kiss from last night made her weak in the knees. She had never felt so vulnerable and it worries her. What if she gives Carl a chance and he breaks her heart? That is one of her biggest fears.

"Anne, please tell me what the problem is. Did I do something wrong? Did I upset you?" Carl seriously asked Anne.

He felt she was upset about something and she was probably pushing him away because of her bad mood. He wasn't buying what she was saying about their kiss only happening because of a 'moment of weakness'. That is absurd.

"If I did something wrong please tell me so I could apologize to you instead of you pretending like the kiss meant nothing to you," he said firmly with a straight face.

Anne turned her back to avoid her eyes from meeting with Carl. She didn't have the courage to look Carl in the eyes and say hurtful things to him.

"Anne please tell me what the problem is… Don't push me away" he said in a soft tone staring at her back view.

"The thing is that I no longer want you in my life... I warned you from the start not to push too hard because it wouldn't get you anywhere. I told you I didn't want your love and I didn't want to be loved either. I don't know if you thought I was kidding when I said that but I wasn't.

My words still stand so stop wasting your time in trying to impress me by bringing me flowers and gifts because I don't feel anything for you and I can never love you. And just so you know, I never intended to be in a relationship with you in the first place. I just want you to leave me alone," Anne said.

Carl felt his heart broken into pieces after hearing Anne's harsh speech. He wasn't expecting this at all. Today he was excited about spending some time with Anne and all of a sudden this? The whole moment felt like a bad dream to him.

"No, I can't believe you… I can't" Carl spoke up in a shaky voice. He felt his heart twisted and his inside crushed. Anne might've rejected him before but this time felt different. He was devastated.

Hearing Carl's shaky voice made Anne swallow her saliva hard. She was backing Carl, yet she could imagine how sad he looked. She knew he was hurt but she stood her ground not to give in.

"How can you tell me you don't feel anything for me and kiss me like that, that's not possible! It's not possible at all. I know you feel something for me, I know you like me as much as I like you... Last night, you made it clear to me that you were lucky to have me in your life so why are you saying a different thing now? Why don't you want me anymore? Why did you choose to give me hope last night if you were going to push me away today? Don't you know it hurts?" he said in a broken tone.

"Anne please don't do this to me... I love you, I love you so much" Carl pleaded. He walked closer to her and held her shoulders with his both hands, pleading like a simp. He didn't care how pathetic he sounded, he was only scared to lose Anne, his love.

Anne took a deep breath and turned to face Carl who had a pathetic look on his face. She made sure she didn't allow Carl's sad look to soften her heart. She desperately wanted to push Carl away no matter what.

"Carl, you're not going to change my mind no matter how much you try. I want you to leave me alone and that is final. It's not too much to ask" Anne said vehemently.

"It's too much to ask because you know how crazy I am about you, you know how much I love you," Carl responded swiftly.

"Well, I don't care!" Anne said coldly and immediately looked down to avoid his eyes since they were now facing each other.

"Say that again but this time, I want you to look at me in the eyes," Carl said and Anne fixed her eyes that had so much anxiety in them back at him.

Carl has noticed that Anne has been avoiding eye contact with him. It seemed like she was scared about something but Carl was ready to fight her fears with her.

"Tell me you don't feel anything for me, tell me you don't care about me. Tell me to leave you alone and that you don't want me here... but I want you to say those words to my face. I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me you don't feel something for me." Carl said, looking straight into her eyes.

Anne gulped and she began to feel her heart beating rapidly. She didn't have the heart to say those words while staring into Carl's eyes so she looked down again.

However, Carl cupped her face with his both hands so he could look into her eyes and they both locked their gaze.

"you can't, can you?" he asked Anne with his eyes filled with determination and before Anne knew it, Carl sealed her lips with his own.

Anne's heartbeat accelerated. She couldn't stop blinking. She tried to break free from him but he held her tightly so she wouldn't let go and he deepened the kiss.

Maybe he can't change her mind so they can be together but he thought the kiss would.

Do you think the kiss would change Anne's mind? please leave your thoughts
