CHAPTER FIFTEEN - THE PREY AND ITS CAPTOR

Just as a green snake would operate within green grass without getting caught, Via had been a silent perpetrator of several atrocities, and she makes sure never to leave any trace behind. She sits still beside Alexander as he lies debile on the bariatric bed in the hospital, she had been taking out some of Alexander's concubine one of which just happened recently with a new redhead he had met a few months ago, Alexander was smitten by her exceptional beauty and in a short while she became his femme fatale as he could no longer help himself from longing for her over time and he had begun to withdrawn from his family;something he hardly does despite being a chronic debauchee when it came to the acts of rumpy pumpy with numerous women. Her name was Memunari, a belle with astonishing beauty and elegance, she bloomed with her crystal-fair skin and adorable round cheeks with a button nose, she had curved lips and was always in the habit of biting them slightly whenever she spoke, and she was a woman on a mission.

Memunari was an agent of Simon who had done all his research as regards Alexander and all that pertains to him, Simon's instructions were for her to ruin Alexander's home and ensure she can blackmail him into doing her every bidding after setting him up, however unknown to him Memunari had her plans and intended to execute them as well. She began very defiant and confrontational during their outings and she convinced Alexander to make the outings as public as possible when he would not budge, she hired her own man to ensure their together moments were captured and showed him; a development he did not approve of Memunari, of course, did not care, Alexander chided her and explained the need for them both to be discreet in their dealings but all his words fell on deaf ears on the part of Memunari.

Via kept getting calls and wind of her husband's affair all around town, she realized this particular lady was not scared as she had tried to reach her several times, rubbing the affair on her face to show how ballsy she is, Via kept a tab on her as usual; did all her digging and realized she worked for Simon, a dangerous businessman who also happens to be contesting for the same position as her husband. She wondered how Alexander is usually so oblivious to the things around him even while it lies right under his nostrils, a deficiency she has been covering up for him on her end long before they got married.

So Via got to work and with the help of Huncho who is Alexander's bodyguard but works for Via clandestinely, she had bombs installed everywhere around her house a night before her birthday, everything had been put in motion for the explosives to go that exact day she had her birthday, more so she had to ensure her husband was not there and would not be in any position to be available so she drugged him heavily on Memunari's birthday so he was knocked off all through the tragic incident. Before now Memunari had taken some videos of their venereal moments and had been extorting him heavily, Alexander did not want his wife Via to know so he began sending her money from his account instead of the family's account, out of his desire to keep the matter as hushed as possible, notwithstanding Via, as usual, was always steps ahead, she had access to everything that pertains to him and he has no idea. Memunari died in her house during her birthday party, It was a very elaborate birthday with a great deal of highly salient and supreme guests, and this made the whole incident even more catastrophic as a lot of lives were lost in the unfortunate incident, Alexander was not himself for a month, he could not tell his wife not any member of his family what happened so he kept up appearance at home and work so as for people not to ask questions. Even though everyone tried to investigate including Simon who used all his influence on the case, no one could pinpoint an actual malefactor who carried out the atrocity as Via has taken extra care to clear all traces, even though a lot of witnesses were arrested and some even sent to jail without bail with the help of Simon's influence, nothing traced the mass murder spree back to the actual kingpins of the crime, Via and her henchmen and life went on as if nothing happened.

Back to the present, Taymie woke up to find herself in a dark room, there were no single lights on, she could not see much in the coal-black environment and she realized she had also been firmly tied in her arms and legs, suddenly the lights flickered and came on and she saw the men before her plus Via the wife of the man she had been having amorous affairs with. Her mouth was not covered so she began to scream, so hard that she thought someone would hear her and she began to struggle to break free, screaming at the top of her lungs while The people in front of her watching her in amusement, with Via especially enjoying the show.

Huncho leans towards her, as tall as a tree, and whispered slowly in his voice which sounded more like a broken record "This place is soundproof" Taymie who still seemed determined to break free kept on shouting hoping someone would come to rescue her, however, knocked out again, she is woken up this time around with her heart palpitating, and the people in front of her are still seated and they were all staring at her. She feels weaker and could no longer shout and then Via began to speak, "You know it's a first-class act to get married to a man in his eighties while having an affair with his son at the same time, knowing very well the inheritance will come to you once you act right" she kept quiet and observed a weak Taymie as she continued "I must give it to you love, you have been sedulous, I am sure Alex does not know this does he" a visibly shocked Taymie could remained speechless through most of the conversations as she had nothing to say for herself, she still stood defiant and told Via in a frail voice "Now that you know me, I bet you would not tell him, that would make us even cause I will make sure he knows about that you did to me, he loves me you know," Taymie said in a voice laden with pride even though enervated, Via does not waste time in telling her all about what had been happening to her pregnancy and the arrangement she had with her boyfriend, the son of the billionaire aged man she manipulated into marrying her who died in a year after the wedding, she was able to get him to buy a lot of exorbitant properties and investments in her name, enough to establish her for life, she wanted the son's main inheritance and also wanted a high profile life in the media world and this is where Alexander's influence comes in hence she had made her research about him before positioning herself for them to meet. She was aghast at this development because how Via knew everything about her at this point she knew it was game over, Taymie is shot in the head by Via herself, the shot was deadened quickly, it happened all in an instant, and as she fell she looked horrified as Via stared at her in the eyes, a vanquishing look on her face, Via shot her two more times in the head and a few moments later what once was the Vibrant body of Taymie who wanted to break free had been replaced by a stone cold body with the atmosphere being serene and completely quiet.

Via with a satisfied look on her face tells her men to dispose of the body and ensured it is never found, then her driver drives her off as she leaves them to it. Orion has been lowering over the gates of time going to and fro, he feels Laura is in grave danger and she needs to know all that she is he has been helpful in a way as he can communicate with her through her dreams and visions, but this is not enough, time is short and a lot still needs to be done. Laura on her part seems to connect the dots as regards Simon and she realizes a lot of things do not seem right about this wealthy businessman, and he seems to have a hold on a lot of people within and outside the business world, she realized he was not always the candidate chosen to run under his political party, there was a white man called Christopher who had been picked by the party and was ready to run but suddenly the man stepped down and left the party without any explanation whatsoever.

Christopher was a man loved by his party members and an individual who had more chances at winning as he had a lot of influence in the medical world being a. big shot doctor himself but Simon wanted his spot and having seen him in person and got rejected, Simon became very vindictive, he was not a man known to take rejections well, he had been used to having his way ever since he was a kid and this scenario would not be any different, he took note of him and found out his secret, a secret so strong it could destroy his career and ruin his marriage, Simon was pleased, he had finally found his leverage and was going to utilize it fully to get at his goal, this is who he is; who he had always been.
