Won't Be There To Save You

CHAPTER 20

After they were done with their meal, they proceeded to the purpose of their meeting immediately.

"Ms Scarlett please may I see the documents I asked for this morning?" Ryker politely asked.

"Yes," Scarlett nodded and placed a big brown envelope on the table. She then pushed it to him.

Ryker took it and read through it with Arsenio. The content of the envelope was her degree from her university and her resume. Scarlett was not so sure why they needed it.

Maybe they were just being professional. After a few minutes passed, they asked her some questions and gave her a black-bound book.

"That's the contract you will sign before working for Mr Stone. They contain everything you will need to know about your compensation to Mr Stone. So read clearly before signing. And if you have anything you are against or want to add, feel free to let us know," said Ryker.

Scarlett nodded and opened the contract. She read through the first page without any problem. But as soon as she turned to the next, what she saw shocked her.

Looking speechless, she raised her eyes to meet the man she will be working with.

"This... Are you sure this is the right contract?" Scarlett asked with her eyes slightly wide open.

"I don't make mistakes, Ms Davis," Arsenio stated with a straight face.

Scarlett gulped and her gaze fell back on the content of the page. Sure she knew she would work for him. But she did not expect that he would offer her a job at his company. And at the high position of being his personal Secretary as well.

And she would be getting paid too. That was nothing near compensation to him at all. It looked the other way around.

Scarlett decided to keep shut about that and read one. And as she did, she was glad she did not say anything.

•Party B must do as Party A says. Failure to do this will attract punishment from Party A.

•Party B must be ready to be at Party A's beck and call no matter what Party B is doing at that moment.

•Failure to do as clause 3 says will attract punishment given by Party A.

•Party B must be loyal and diligent when working for Party A. Betrayal is punishable by life imprisonment with severe torture as well as sizing of all properties owned by Party B.

Scarlett gulped upon reading this. She felt cold shivers run through her soul to her entire body.

'Gosh, he may be generous but he has a wicked side too,' she thought. 'Good thing that I do not have a trait of a betrayer.'

•Party B must be at work before Party A arrives and must have everything ready for Party A's day.

•If Party B fails to do this, there will be a reduction in Party B's income. But if Party B does well, a bonus will be awarded.

By the time Scarlett was done reading the contract, she felt as if years had gone by. So many rules. But she had a problem.

"What is it Ms Davis," They had changed the way they addressed her now that they knew her full name.

"With all these, I do not think I as Party B will have enough time for myself," Scarlett stated what she found unagreeable in the contract.

They all stated how she must be at Party A's beck and call even outside of work. Does that mean she won't even have time for her? As a woman, she needs her time.

"Can't I even have a free weekend at least?" She asked.

Ryker shared a look with Arsenio. "Alright. You will get tour weekends to yourself."

Scarlett let out a low sigh of relief. That's much better. She can't work like a maniac all weekdays and still go for it on weekends.

"Is there anything else you want to complain about?" Arsenio asked.

"Yes. Uhm, until when do I have to work for you? When do stop being indebted to you?"

Ryker left that part to Arsenio to decide. After all, he was the one being compensated not him.

"I will let you know when that time comes," was the only thing Arsenio said.

Scarlett was not satisfied with that. So she shook her head, leaned back into the chair and folded her arms.

"I'm sorry that won't do. I need a time range at least. There will be a certain kind of pressure on me about being indebted to someone," she said.

Arsenio sighed and nodded.

"Very well then. You owe me your life. But I will be lenient with you on your labour," he said. "One year. You will work for a year."

'Yes, a year. That's more than enough for me to find out what is behind the pull I feel towards you, human,' Arsenio said in his head.

Meanwhile, Scarlett was quite surprised. She thought it would be more than that. But luckily, it isn't. With a smile, she nodded and picked up the pen laying on the side of the contract and signed it.

"You have officially been employed into Stones Enterprise. Congratulations," Ryker said and held his hand out for a handshake.

Scarlett accepted it as well as a small white envelope that was given to her.

"You will begin on the first working day of next week since this week is almost over," he said.

"Alright then. Thank you."

Since that was all they, left the restaurant and parted ways. Scarlett stood and went into the nearest coffee shop to seat and wait for Kayden to come to pick her up.

She ordered a protein milkshake as she sat by a table at the far corner of the shop. Away from the eyes of customers. She opened the white envelope.

It was a letter of acceptance into Arsenio's company. A small smile made its way unto her face as she thought of Arsenio's last words.

"With you being busy, you won't always find yourself in trouble. I might not be there to save you like the last three times."

I'm a bit uncertain about this chapter. But I hope it suits your mind as you read.
