Closeted Genius

"You've really improved in a pretty short amount of time." said Mary.

"Haha, I've been wanting to beat you after all." replied Ena.

They sparred in the courtyard, punches and kicks were thrown. Their elegant footwork made it look like an exquisite ballet dance if not for the fighting that was displayed. Their accurate punches and quick reflexes made everything really intense, as if they were really trying to attack each other, but it was only a spar.

If people heard that this was only a spar, they would definitely be in disbelief since they looked like they wanted to kill each other. However, they were only having fun and training.

Ena channeled her inner Chi through her right arm to increase the speed, before it could hit Mary, she instantly backed away and looked surprised at the suddenly increase of her student's speed.

"You even got faster too." said Mary.

"Well, I needed to get faster in order to catch up to you." said Ena.

"Good luck." said Mary.

Alice was watching them as their battle of speed started, their quick yet precise jabs were thrown at each other with such speed that it left mirages. Though she was more focused on her little sister Ena, she couldn't believe how much she's improved in just 2 years, and she's gotten quite strong without magic too.

Instead of feeling jealous towards her little sister, she felt relieved. She was worried that her little sister wouldn't be able to defend herself because she was born without magic. Although most of the citizens still supported her, there was bound to be some people who disliked her. Their minds were filled with thoughts that discriminated against Ena herself, like, "How could someone born without magic be part of the royal family? Throw her out!"

Alice couldn't understand why people would think of that, even without magic, humans were still humans, there was on reason to hate on someone just because they weren't born without magic. So naturally, as Ena grew up, she would watch over her and make sure no slurs got to her. She was protective over her little sister, she didn't want anyone to hurt her in any way, the negative comments of the people could mentally hurt Ena.

Despite having a different appearance when Ena grew up, Alice naturally loved her sister still. Actually, she was quite grateful, having a family with blonde hair and just blue eyes seemed boring. So when she saw Ena's violet eyes and black hair, she adored her little sister even more. Thus, Alice paid more attention to Ena than the rest of her family, however, she loved all of them equally as much, but just her little sister much more.

She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the sound of clapping.

"Let me down!" said Ena.

"No, no. You tried to cheat against me so naturally you're being disciplined." said Mary.

Ena was being carried by Mary's wind magic and she wasn't getting down anytime soon.

Alice walked over and asked, "What happened?"

"Princess, it seems your little sister tried to cheat." said Mary.

"No I didn't! I was just testing out something." protested Ena.

She wailed her arms in the air and kicked her legs as she floated in the air.

"How?" asked Alice.

"With this." said Mary, she threw the violet violet stone up and down, "When she attacked, she threw this stone in the air and suddenly a purple light flashed in my vision so I looked away since I didn't want to be blind. However, because of Ena's dirty play, I wasn't able to defend myself against her kick to my abdomen." said Mary rubbing her abdomen.

"A violet flash of light?" asked Alice.

"Go explain Ena." said Mary.

"Fine, I was sitting my room inspecting the purple tone I bought in the city which is the stone Mary is holding right now. As I was inspecting it, I put it on the sunlight and that was when I was also flashed by the purple light. When I tried it again, the purple light didn't flash. Since I had time, I decided to count as I waited it to flash in the sunlight. After about 10 minutes, the violet light flashed again. So I decided to inspect the violet stone little by little to see what it actually was."

"When I took the stone apart in two, I realized there was a magic seal on it that made the the stone flash. And how it worked? Let me tell you. It was programmed that when the sunlight hit the stone, the sea of electrons would absorb the energy. Normally, it would only reflect light but since magic was added in it. The sea of electrons that absorbed the energy combined with the magic to create a purple flash to blind the person. Though, there is a 10 minute timer since it would definitely explode if there wasn't one." said Ena.

And how did Ena know? Despite never studying, she was smart, Her brain was always unconsciously taking in information and when she needed it, the information would enter her head.

Alice and Mary was amazed at how easily Ena explained how the flash of light that came from the violet stone worked. Unconsciously, she stopped her wind magic making Ena fall to the ground on her butt.

"Ow." said Ena.

"Are you okay?" asked Alice.

"Sorry about that princess, I was just surprised." said Mary.

"It's okay and I'm fine so there's no need to carry meEEE~" said Ena.

However, Alice didn't listen to her little sister, she still picked her up and made sure she was fine. Once she was done checking up on Ena, she put her back down on the ground.

"See, told you I was fine." said Ena.

"I had to make double check to make sure, you should go take a shower. You're all sweaty and you even got my hands wet. " said Alice.

"Don't blame it on me, you're the one to decided to pick me up. Now bye~ I'm going to take a shower now." said Ena.

As Ena walked off, Mary and Alice looked towards each other and nodded. They needed to talk to the queen about what they talked about earlier. As they entered the queen's office, she sat on the chair, and waited for the queen's permission to talk.

Normally Elizabeth would let them talk without permission since Alice was her daughter, but since Mary was here, she needed to keep her demeanor.

"Is there something you both need?"

"You both are allowed to speak." said Elizabeth, the queen.

"We're here to talk about Ena, my little sister." said Alice.

"And a few more things." added Mary.

Elizabeth's ears naturally perked up, she knew this was important from looking at their faces.

"Elaborate."

"We'll talk about Ena first, but first, we'll talk about the violet stone." Looking over to Alice, she nodded at her to go on.

She explained what Ena said to her mother.

"Apparently, the stone had a magic seal put onto it and was used for blinding people. It had no other effects other than that. It worked by making sunlight shine at the stone, the sea of electrons would start to absorb the energy, it would usually only reflect light but due to the magic that was embedded in the stone, the electrons that absorbed the energy combined with the magic to create a bright flash of purple light."

"However, the main problem was who made the stone. They had to be someone smart and part of a powerful family to create something without us knowing. We were lucky it got into the hands of Ena, if it was anyone else, who knows what would happen."

"And that leads us to the final matter, Ena. She was able to decipher how the stone worked and explained it with ease, we were easily able to understand it too. With my abilities, I could decipher the stone worked, but I don't think I could give a simple explanation where someone could understand it." said Alice.

The queen stared through her window with her back facing the 2 figures, she stood there taking all the information in.

"About the violet stone, I'll get my guards to inspect who made it. However, about Ena...what are your thoughts Mary?" asked Elizabeth.

Mary thought about what to say before speaking what she was thinking.

"I think...I think your daughter might be a closeted genius." said Mary.

"What do you mean?" asked Elizabeth.

"It's as I said, I think she's a closeted genius. Although she's extremely smart, she just hasn't been given the ability to prove of her intellect yet. I think you should give her a few challenges to show off her skills." said Mary.

"I see, you two may now leave." said Elizabeth.

The two got up and left the room leaving the queen alone.

Even if she looked calm on the outside, the inside of her was trembling with mixed emotions. Many thoughts filled her mind as she wondered what she would do.
