"Won't you get in trouble for not housing a Lunaseeker in your own home?" Leon was utterly confused that he was not being ratted out.
"Don't worry, when the time comes, I'll tell the higher ups about you. But for now, we just have to lay low for a bit. We still do not know everything about your condition." Kanon said to him.
"Sir Kanon, they have arrived." Damian whispered from outside the room. "Good, you may all come inside." Leon gazed at the door as Damian, Sanya, Reno, and Kyro made welcomed themselves in.
Kanon Sokolov grinned. "These are the only people in Solstice who know about your secret. And I've already told them to keep it under wraps, rest assured.
"Pretty stupid decision-making back there, dumbass." Kyro scoffed at Leon, who made the latter quite triggered. "How about you say that close to my face, beanpole?"
"How are you feeling, Leon?" Sanya asked. "I-I'm alright, Sanya. I should be the one to ask you that." Sanya had bandage wrappings all around her arms.
The conversation was disturbed by Leon's stomach, it had grumbled as he noticed a palpable hunger deep within the pits of it. It was loud enough that they all heard it.
Kanon sighed. "Now this is where our problem lies in. Lunaseekers' hunger cannot be quenched by normal human food. You have to absorb the very life essence of other arcane sorcerers to deal with it, and I am pretty sure none of us here would want you to do that to a fellow human, right?"
Leon nodded as he gulped. "S-So what am I supposed to do?" he was startled at this revelation.
The Commander raised his hand in a thumbs-up motion. "From other Lunaseekers, of course!" Kanon said.
"Aren't you a bit too enthusiastic about this, sir?" Sanya corrected him. "Oh, my apologies." He cleared his throat. "As I was saying, you will be deployed to your very first mission tomorrow, together with the other rookies; namely Damian Rose and Kyro Shin. It is going to be a four-man mission to exterminate the Lunaseekers prowling around the night markets of Solstice. Reno here will be the one to lead you." Reno nodded in agreement.
Leon glanced at Damian, who still felt down about how he cowered in fear at the masked Lunaseeker that one night. "Hey, cheer up. We've got our first mission tomorrow." he said as he cheered up his best friend.
Kyro Shin raised his hand. "I have a question, Commander Sokolov. What is stopping Leon from going bloodlust and turning on us?" his question turned the atmosphere quite sour, but it was a valid concern.
"Don't worry, Kyro. Even if he did, I've given Reno the instructions to deal with him if that happens." Kanon's tone was stoic and utterly cold. "But I'd assume you won't, right, Leon?"
"Tch. Of course I won't. I'm still me after all is said and done." he said as he clicked his tongue. "Excellent, I also heard you got cold feet and could not use magic against the summoned wolf, right?" The Commander asked, Leon stuttered trying to find an answer, but Kanon immediately pulled out a dark wand from out of nowhere. "I want you to try using this."
Everybody cleared out and went to the balcony for more space. Leon took deep breaths and aimed the wand at the Commander. Kyro was about to step up, but the Commander stopped him. "It's alright. No matter what spell he casts, he still can't lay a finger on me. I am the Commander for a reason." he mockingly stared at Leon, who let a projectile out of his wand without a second thought.
It was a bright red blast which moved at the speed of light, Kanon could barely react to it as he blocked it off with his wand. Damian's eyes were clearly shocked. "L-Leon! You can use magic now!" his friend exclaimed.
