A new soul is born

A newborn soul opened its eyes and was greeted by a small glowing ball of energy. The ball of energy was floating in the air, and reminded me of a hummingbird as it agily floated from place to place. It seemed almost impossible for the ball of energy to sit still, rather its location would shift every second or so.

It did not take long before the ball of energy noticed the newborn soul's presence. The glow around it slowly started to faded revealing a small floating creature with clear butterfly like wings on it's back. The voice of the fairy was not as diminutive as its body, and was easily heard.

"Welcome traveler to the world of monsters. I will be you guide and companion Victoria Everfly. You probably have several questions to ask me, but before that it is necessary for you to spin the wheel of fate you see behind me."

The soul looked to where the fairy was pointing and did in fact see a wheel behind the fairy. It did not really understand the words the fairy was saying. World of Monsters? what was that? where was I? the strange fairy was right, I really did have a lot of questions. The newborn soul thought to itself.

The wheel of fate was filled with words the soul could not understand, but instinctively it knew that the results of the spin would have a large effect on my future. It could not help but feel nervous as It approached the large wheel.

In front of the device was a large red button. The wheel began to spin as the soul stood in front of the button. It sat there watching it spin for an unknown amount of time. The longer it watched the more lost it became. The strange writing blended together as the soul watched, soon disappearing into a blur.

Eventually it had no choice but to reach it's hand out to stop the spinning of the wheel. The button was rather cold, but it paid it no mind as it slowly watched the spinning wheel come to a stop. The soul could not understand the words that appeared, but luckily Victoria clapped her hands and exclaimed loudly.

"A half Beast! How grand! you will be much stronger than a human, and much smarter than a normal wild beast. Though you will not be nearly as adaptable as a human, nor as strong as a beast. Still it is one of the best fates to recieve! Congratulations!!"

When she finished speaking 3 cards appeared before the soul. Each of them showed a different option. They highlighted both the pros and the cons of each of the different races shown.

1. Lycan: A human by day, but capable of a beastly transformation into a beast. The beast is fueled by their animalistic instincts. As a lycan grows they gain more control over their transformation, and can even enter into it will. Unfortunately during the full moon they will completly lose control and be consumed by their instincts. The Human form is highly adaptable and has higher physical abilities than an average human. The beast form is much stronger than the other races, with its physical abilities being the highest of the three choices. Unfortunately they have a low comparability with magic, and struggle to cast even the most basic of spells.

2. Beastman. A hybrid of human and beast. They have a mostly human physique, with animalistic features. They have an average compatability with magic, and are able to cast spells of all elements. The have slightly higher physical abilities than that of a human.

3. Half-Beast: A humanoid that has descended from the magic beasts of the world. They recieve a racial ability and a perfect elemental affinity from their heritage, this unfortunately limits the directions they can grow in. They are limited to a single element, but have the highest potential for growth in that specific element. Their physical abilities are average.

Three choices. Each representing a different path of growth. The first would be a purely physical path, one that reigned supreme in physical confrontations. The downside would be the lack of control during a full moon.

The second seemed to be a middle ground, one that was good at everything, but a master of none. The paths they could grow in would be unlimited, but they would not be specialized.

The last was a path of magic. It had average physical abilities and would be limited to a single element. It had the least adaptability of the three choices, but also recieved a racial ability.

Unfortunately there was no further information. It seems the actual race would be random. It would be completly up to ones luck as to what race they recieved when the choice was made.

Ultimately each choice had their strong and weak points. The results of the choice sould determine the paths one could walk in this world, and this is why each soul was given this choice upon its birth.

The newborn soul did not have to think long. It felt a desperate longing for something. It felt a longing for a life of adventure. It felt like all three of these options would fulfill this requirement, but there was one that truly stood out. Without hesitation the soul picked the third option.

The world around it began to grow hazy, and its thoughts seemed to grow more distant. The last thought the newborn soul had was that perhaps it would grow strong in its life.
