Chapter 59 - Dreams

Ashur POV

They have been missing for 4 days now, we have been looking for them, but nothing even the wolfs can't pick up their scent or aura.

Ignis has been worried, it's weird to think that he is interested in a female human.

I have the incoming battle to worry about, I don't want to put my people through all the hardships of war again.

We have lost many loved ones, I have to make sure that this time, their faith in me is not in vain.

Amidst the chaos of this impending war, I began to have recurring dreams. In these dreams, I witnessed a fierce battle with the King's army. Just as I was on the verge of defeat, a figure, with long flowing white hair and red eyes, descended from the moon itself, guiding us to a glorious victory.

The figure was a woman, it looked like her, I just didn't understand why I was keep having the same dream. And what's worse she would always appear to save me.

That dream both intrigued and haunted me, was she appearing because of my guilt? Because I didn't protect her, but if so, why a wasn't I dreaming about Jakobus,I have known him longer.

I have been having trouble sleeping because of the dreams, the battle is getting near and I am not at all focused, I can't lead my men to ruin.

The day of the king's knights arrival is approaching, they can be here any minute, if wasn't for Jakar and the others ...I don't know anymore.

I feel like I am letting everyone down, what has happened to me? Why am I so worried about her?

'Ashur ?'

'Yes Ignis?' the time I have spent with Ignis I mastered the ability to face him in my mind we could see each other and touch each other. Is like we were in a different place all together.

'you are feeling conflicted, why is that?'

'you won't understand.'

'I understand not. You are fighting something that should be the most natural thing.'

I stared at Ignis, unsure of how to express myself.

It was an internal battle pulling me in opposite directions. On one hand, I had my duty as the leader of my people, to protect them and lead them in the impending war. On the other hand, I couldn't shake the overwhelming connection I felt towards that woman, she was even now invading my dreams.

Ignis came closer to me, his eyes filled with concern. 'Ashur, you are not just a warrior, you and me, we are beings capable of love and emotion. There is nothing wrong with feeling conflicted. It is part of what makes us alive.'

I sighed and ran my hand through my hair. 'But Ignis, how can I focus on the task at hand when my mind and heart are consumed by thoughts of her? It feels like a betrayal to my people.'

Ignis placed a hand on my shoulder. 'Ashur, you can't fight your destiny. Perhaps this woman holds the key to our victory, to your own purpose. Embrace the unknown, and trust that everything happens for a reason.'

My brows furrowed as I pondered Ignis words. Could it be that the woman, held the answers I sought? Was she the missing piece to this puzzle of purpose? The thought both frightened and excited me. I never thought I would want anyone like this.

I could see my men preparing for battle, I couldn't be pondering on this the entire time they needed a strong leader, that has the entire focus on the situation at hand.

I could hear Ignis sighing .

"Ashur." A Jakar's snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Yes"

"We have finished the preparations, I have control all the flanks and the sides where they could penetrate and close them. "

"I see." I have to get myself together. "Everyone is prepared? The one's who are not going to fight know where to go?"

Jakar looked over his shoulder. Made a head sign for me to look behind him.

"Master noone is going to hide this time, we are going to fight together with you! " The crowd stepped forward. Ashur was surprised but in his face he didn't display his emotion.

"They won't listen to me." Said Jakar.

"We may die, we may win, I can't protect you when we all fight.".

"We are the Blessed we are ready to die." Ashur heart that was in a turmoil finally settled, his people was what he lived to protect. His resolve was once again clear to him.

"Blood for freedom!" He cried with all his might.

They all cried together , the sound was deafening.

"We are not waiting for them here, let's bring the battle to them, the hills can be a great ally. We are going.

Brace yourselves, is time for battle." Ashur voice rawred through their hearts.

"It's Time!" They all screamed.
