Chapter 1 - The Slums

Modern World, location: The Slums

"Ha, ha, ha.... Haaa."

A man was breathing heavily as he ran through the alleyway of the slams.

Taking detours as to lose his chasers.

He looked to be 17 years old and he was thin, pale, and judging from the bread he was holding in his arms.

He was most likely hungry.

However these breads wasn't only for him to eat.

It was both for him and his brother.

As for why he was running was because he stole this bread.

Stealing, fighting, and killing in the slums were common occurrence.

So seeing this scene was normal in this place.

After all, whether you die here or not depends on yourself.

You must do all you can to survive. It is the survival of the fittest.

"I... I made it."

Aither said to himself as he arrived inside a small broken cabin.

Before he entered here, he first observed his surroundings cautiously.

In addition, before entering he calmed his rough breathing and put a smile on his face.

Inside, there was only one small table, a small bed, and a mat where Aither slept.

"Avier, I'm back! Look, I brought you some bread."

He said with a smile on his face, but the only response he got from his brother was a tear.

His brother cried.

After all, his brother knew the hardships his brother did for him.

And getting this bread was one of them.

Then, looking at his brother's crying face, he sat down next to him.

"Here."

Aither handed the bread to his brother and his brother received it feeling grateful as he wiped the tears in his eyes.

In truth, looking at his brother crying made Aither once again remember all the hardships his gone through.

But it was all worth it, for his brother, and for himself.

However, remembering the person who made them go through this, made him slightly angry.

But he didn't dwell on it for too long.

He didn't care about that person anymore, he just wanted to live in peace with his brother.

Yet, this peace didn't last long as a shout was heard from outside.

"Miss Catherine! We found them!"

At those words, both of the brother's face darkness and became gloomy.

They hid themselves well for years already but to think they would still remember them.

(Shit! Did I overlooked something while I was running away? Or perhaps someone they knew saw me and reported me?)

He recalled all the steps he made as he stole the bread, and made many plans to escape the situation.

However, there was only one eligible plan that could guarantee his safety but that wasn't possible for him.

"Brother.... What should we do?"

His brother asked with the look of helplessness in his eyes as if he had accepted his fate.

Seeing it, Aither smiled and bonk him in the head.

"What are you thinking, I'm not going to abadon you. Even if you agree to it, I still wouldn't do it."

"After all.... You're my brother."

Avier rubbed his head where his brother bonked him with his hands.

He was happy with his brother's words but he already knew his brother would say this.

"Open it."

Was the words said outside and the two came back to their senses.

The voice seemed to belong to a woman and it was actually quite pleasing to hear.

But not for this two brothers.

Bang!

The door was slammed open and the sillouhoute of a woman could be seen outside the door.

"Brother..."

"I know."

Aither replied to his brother calmly but in his hands was a knife.

He took it out from the back of his pants.

But before he could even get a chance to use it, and see the woman clearly.

The scenery around them changed.

The woman, the cabin, and even the bread on the bed was gone.

They were both transported in an unfamiliar place or more specifically, another world.
