Chapter 26 Omen

" Dame Jocylee, go to the vault and grab the medicine with this seal. I will hold him off here."

Golla spoke coldly, looking at the man with an unkind look. His mana spiked up, creating dust everywhere to distract him, but to their surprise, he wasn't alone.

Another man with armor came out from the portal, looking at them with indifference in his eyes. The duo was shocked to see Bastia's greatest swordsman had sided with the enemy, betraying their king.

" Why, Dickenson? You had everything. Honor, wealth power, and experience. You never lacked something. Why did you betray our king and side with this man?"

Jocylee shouted, blood rushing into her head. She was extremely disappointed and felt betrayed by her one of closest hearts. She fought with him in the battles together for many years. Thus, he was regarded as a man whom she could trust her back, but the reality was cruel as he stood before them while observing their movements.

" Jocylee, I am sorry, but I have to do this. You see my time is running out as I will die in 3 years even if I managed to attain a higher level. This is a chronic disease that I got after the battle of Tedus."

He said lightly, showing a rash on his skin which horrified the duo because it was filled with pus and a disgusting wound. As a high leveled fighter, he had superior healing abilities that could regenerate most of the wounds, but it was clear that his ability wasn't able to cope with this.

" You could have asked us!"

Jocylee retorted, thinking she could save him despite her status and responsibility as a general. However, the truth was that. To save him they needed a medicine like elixir or water of life to extend his lifespan.

" Too late for regret. Besides he promised me an eternal life that I could enjoy and become stronger. Stronger than you and Makarov or Castella."

He drew his sword against her, showing where he wanted to stand. Jocylee closed her eyes with pain, placing her hand on the handle of her sword.

Golla also saw the man was starting to chant something in his mouth. Before he could finish it, Golla appeared in front of his eyes, slashing diagonally with his sword, but Golla found his body was bound to the ground. He crushed the earth with his legs and closed his distance again.

" Didn't Castella tell you that you are too impatient?"

The man sighed, throwing the scroll out of his pocket. The magic that was sealed in the scroll scorched the area with hellfire. Jocylee stood before Golla, activating her mana barrier to push off the fire.

Stab*

Suddenly, a sword penetrated her leg, causing her to fall. She raised her head and saw Dickenson with a bloody sword. His cold eyes were focused on her face, seemed to be memorizing her last moment.

" Pity, I know both of your patterns."

He spoke calmly, slashing down their barriers. As the strongest swordsman in the kingdom of Bastia, his skills were equal to Jocylee and Golla who were the commanders. If Golla had his comrades who were known as the Glorious Knights of Goddess ready, he could easily defeat him since every member of the order was strong like him. Furthermore, there was a member who was even stronger than him next to the queen as a guard.

" Do you know what you are going to create? You will paint this area with blood with your selfishness."

Golla gritted his teeth, clashing with him his sword. His bright armor shone under the sun, showing the true might of the noble knight.

The mana of the burning glory shunned the shadow of the stealth as Golla overpowered him. His eyes turned into gold as he got even stronger, trusting in himself. He knew these two were the killers and culprits behind all of this, so he had to punish them here.

" Watch out!"

Jocylee pulled Golla right when he was about to kill him. The scarlet arrow of magic passed through them, creating a hazy red trail behind it. The sound of the beating heart could be heard and the red eyes grew out from the ground to devour them.
