Chapter Three

Ugh!

Summer regained consciousness, a sharp pain piercing through her head and her body was heavy. The first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was a white ceiling. She tried to get up and move but it proved to be very difficult. She was in a well-furnished room with white walls and she wondered what the hell was going on.

Immediately, every memory came rushing back into her head and she hissed due to pain.

"My… My Damien is-" her eyes widened and she held her hand over her mouth. Summer couldn't believe that this was happening to her.

Creak!

Summer heard the sound of a door open and heavy footsteps marched towards her and came to a stop in front of her. Summer looked up at the stranger.

"Miss Dawson, You're awake. How are you feeling?"

He was a young man, probably in his late twenties, and had odd crimson-colored long hair and the darkest green eyes she had ever seen.

"where am I? How am I alive? Who are you?"

"Calm down, Miss Dawson. To answer your questions, You are in my house in Elysium City, I saved you and my name is Angel Salvino." The man introduced himself politely.

"My son, where is he?" She asked, eyes frantic. " You saved him also, right? Where is Damien?"

"Unfortunately, I couldn't save him," he replied, with a solemn tone.

Summer's shoulder slumped and a few seconds later, tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Why couldn't you save him? You saved me, didn't you?" She sobbed, burying her face in her hand.

"I think you don't understand the situation you are in, you should go take a look at yourself in the mirror." Angel urged.

Summer raised her head from her hand and looked at Angel, her face scrunched up.

"What do you mean?"

"I didn't quite save you as you think." He replied. Summer was still confused but she did as he instructed, and slowly climbed out of bed with his assistance.

She was led to the dressing table and she looked at her reflection in the mirror, Summer paled and jolted back.

"W. What is wrong with m.my-" She shakily reached her hands out and touched her face. Smooth skin, and dazzling bright Silver eyes, and her hair was jet black and was below her back. Summer was extremely beautiful and in a very young body that didn't look older than twenty-five.

"Why do I look like this? Who is this?"

"Of course, this is you, Miss Dawson," Angel replied, coming to stand beside her, and their eyes connected through the mirror.

Summer shook her head. "No, Something is wrong with my face. I'm a forty-two years old lady, I-"

"You are already dead, Miss Dawson."

Summer's shoulders tensed at his words, What did he mean by that? How could she be standing here then?

"I brought you back to life after seeing your dead body."

It didn't make sense at all, but deep down in her heart, She believed him. She had really died and came back to life, her wish had been answered.

"Who are you and how did you bring me back to life?"

Angel smirked. "You might want to sit down."

***

Angel Salvino, A hybrid making of witch and werewolf and the head Alpha of America. He was over ten thousand years old and had seen many things that the human eye couldn't bear. That was all Summer could get from him. He was very vague about his identity.

Supernatural creatures exist and they share Earth with humans but hide in plain sight. This man in front of her was one of the most powerful supernatural beings from what he had told her and for some reason, he brought Summer back to life.

"I don't mean to be ungrateful, but can't you bring my son to life also?"

If he had brought her back to life, then surely he could resurrect Damien also

"The boy was already dead for more than thirty minutes, meanwhile your body had not been dead for up to ten minutes."

Summer balled her fists. Tears welled up in her eyes but she refused to cry again.

She had gotten a second chance and in a different body, a younger and agile body. She was going to avenge her son's death and make sure that Mayor Lucien paid for what he did to them.

"That expression on your face, you want revenge, don't you? And let me guess, against Lucien? " Summer's eyes widened, and she looked at Angel.

"Do you know the Mayor?"

"Of course, but tell me something first, was he behind you and your son's death?"

Summer gritted her teeth. "That bastard ordered his son to kill Damien and he killed me."

"You know you are extremely lucky Miss Dawson, you are the very first witness of his that is alive today," Angel pointed out. "I always tried to catch the sly bastard, and that was why I came to this town."

Summer wondered if this was fate, the man who gave her a second chance was also out to get Lucien Hamilton.

"I want to make Lucien pay for killing my son, and for all the evil he has done. Please, help me, Mr. Salvino."

Angel looked deep into her eyes, her thirst for revenge was strong and with her beauty, he could use her to infiltrate Lucien's nest and make sure that he faced judgment for his evil acts.

"You should be aware of one thing Miss Dawson, if you decide to walk on this path, your life would be in danger and you could die at any given time. Would you still like to walk on this path?"

Summer gave a bitter laugh. "My son is the most important thing in my life, and Lucien took that away from me. I will destroy him and his family and make sure that he pays for his crimes."

"Okay then, Miss Dawson. I'll help you and in return, you will help me find evidence on Lucien Hamilton, that he is a corrupt bastard and you will do that by rooting yourself into his life."

Angel held out his hand to Summer.

"If anything happens to you, you're not permitted to mention my name. Do you agree?"

Summer shook his hand. This wasn't something she would take hours to think about, her son had been murdered brutally and she had had no reason to live again apart from her son, her sole purpose now was to kill Lucien Hamilton after destroying his life.

Angel smiled at her. "I look forward to working with you Miss Dawson."

"I have one question, Mr. Salvino."

It was something that had been bugging her from the time she had seen her new look in the mirror.

"Go on then, Miss Dawson and you can call me Angel since we will be working closely together from now on."

"Okay, Mr. Sal… I mean Angel. Whose body am I occupying?"

"I said earlier, Mrs. Dawson. This is your body." Summer looked at him, confusion etched on her face and Angel proceeded to explain.

"There has to be a balance in nature, and I can't bring you back in the same body. If I do, the universe will notice and try to correct all that shouldn't be and you will end up dying or horrible things will happen."

Summer was surprised at the revelation, she didn't know that the universe was as fascinating as this.

"The body you bear is the appearance of your soul, your real look, and after you die, this is the appearance you'll take in the afterlife."

"Thank you, I understand it now."

Summer was grateful for this new body because it was extremely beautiful and men were slaves to beautiful women, she could also take action without anyone suspecting that it was her.

Angel cleared his throat and Summer glanced at him.

"As you have chosen this path, there is something you have to do."
