Reincarnation

[Excellent now, my proposition is simply that you help me win a bet against a fellow 'god', as you have put it]

[Another god and I bet on mortal conquering a universe or not if given the opportunity to]

"Based on fiction alone, aren't there many examples of that" I asked

It didn't make sense, if the infinite multiverse was real then even our so-called fictional universe existed somewhere out there.

This would mean that there were entire universes under the rule of some mortal.

[That is indeed correct but I can't explain further, your duty in all of this is to simply be reincarnated into a mortal universe and you conquer it, that is all]

"As long as I get some abilities to do so, I don't care" I shrugged

What use was overthinking it, death wasn't what I warned. I wanted to be wealthy, I wanted to be the one paying others not the one being paid.

I couldn't achieve any of that while being dead, I need to be alive to do any of that.

[We shall see] The Celestial said before everything suddenly went dark.

What followed after was unknown but I know I wasn't unconscious, it was just really dark.

I heard nothing nor did I smell or see anything anymore, it was a weird situation.

I didn't know what happened after that as my consciousness slipped but when I came to, I was within some containment unit of some kind.

Of course I had no idea where I was but something else was way more important.

I felt heavy, I had a body. That celestial being had actually reincarnated me.

Trying my best to stand, It felt as though someone had somehow drained all the energy out of my body. I was weak, too weak.

"What's going on?" I asked as I continued trying to stand but to no avail

It was as though my bones were replaced by rubber and my flesh turned to solid stone.

I couldn't carry myself no matter how much effort I exerted, I just couldn't do anything.

"What did that bastard do?"

[You do realise that I am still with you, right?] the familiar voice returned

"Shit! I'm sorry but what's going on?"

[Welcome to reincarnation, it isn't always as pretty as your fantasy media makes it]

"So I'm a baby?" I asked as it all connected

It all made sense now,

[As a reincarnated should be, yes]

"I see, so can you finally tell me what I am supposed to be doing?"

[You don't need to worry about that just get as powerful as you can and we will met again] the celestial said

"That's all? No instructions, just get powerful and that's all?" I asked

Forgetting just how moronic that sounded, I was now stuck in a world that I knew nothing about with all but an instruction that says I should get more powerful.

This was nothing like how I expected reincarnation to be. There was no fancy wish granting scene, there was no fancy rebirth, I was just a ordinary baby in a whole new world.
