17: Unintended Consequences

Kei then walks towards the Essence which were floating around. 'I don't know what will happen to me if I consume an Essence of and B-ranked Boss monster.' Kei then relaxes his body and lets his body loose. Then he gathers the Essence into groups.

Then he absorbs the first batch but Kei didn't feel any pain and he is very surprised by it 'How can it be? Even though I absorbed an Essence of a higher-level monster, I still don't feel pain. Though I can differentiate between a C-ranked Essence and a B-ranked essence. The smaller quantities of B-ranked Essence are equivalent to a medium-sized quantity of C-ranked Essence.' Kei could feel that he could easily control this Mana.

'Is my body getting used to absorbing Mana at such a rapid pace?' Kei wants to test how much Essence he can handle at once and absorbs three batches at once. At first, Kei didn't feel anything wrong with himself but soon he felt a burning sensation envelop his body and he grabs his chest. 'This is HOT! I feel like my organs would melt down. Is this because I absorbed the Essence of Acidwrym that some Acid entered me? No this has not ever happened to me while I was absorbing other Essences. I didn't get heat vision from Maligora or its iron abilities. Nor the ability to spit venom like Mother of Dreadweaver. Anyways I have to contain it.' Then he sits down and starts his move to assess the situation of his body. 'Thank God! Neither of my organs is injured.'

Then he gets a dangerous but amazing idea. First, he envelops his organs in Mana to prevent them from getting any injury. Then he filters out the acid which was spread throughout his body towards his mouth. 'This might be the stupidest thing I might have ever done.' Morphy surrounds and coats the acid to prevent the acid from spilling out and injuring him. Then he creates a space within his mouth to store the acid 'If I mess this up then I will mess up my cranial nerves which would lead me to lose all my senses. But I have to be ready to take these risks in order to get stronger.'

"Aggggggh" Kei felt the worst pain imaginable in his neck but he couldn't scream otherwise the vibrations in his neck might disrupt his plan.

Steph noticed Kei who was on the ground and walked towards him in concern. Steph could notice the pain that Kei was going to ask him what was going on but Kei raised his hand and stopped Steph from saying anything.

After a few minutes Kei opened his eyes and rushed to a side and vomited but what he vomited wasn't anything normal. He vomited out acid which instantly melted the rocks. Steph was very shocked by seeing this and Kei turned to see Steph and he became very nervous and started to think about how he would answer it. "Steph I ac-" but Steph stops him and says "It's okay, you don't have to explain to me. It is your matter." Kei smiles and thanks him. "Instead I should thank you. If it weren't for you then we all must have died by now. I can't thank you enough and except for increasing your pay, I don't think I can do anything else for you. But if you ask anything and it is within my power then I would definitely do it."

Kei then says "Take fifty per cent of my pay and give them to the family of the deceased. I know it wouldn't lessen any of their pain but I hope that they haven't had to think about earning money for some time." Steph smiles and nods and was about to walk away but Kei stops him and asks him" Please don't pay me in money instead I would take the iron tail of Maligora. I actually need it very much to repair and build a new weapon for me. By any chance you know of anyone who can make and repair weapons?"

Steph starts to think but he says "I can't think of anyone now but I would ask around and inform you." Kei nods and they shake hands "After we leave the dungeon let's go grab some drinks." Steph smiles and nods. Then they start to walk towards the exit of the dungeon.

While walking, Kei wanted to test something and he did it by spitting but it was not a normal spit but what he spit was acid which instantly melted the rocks. 'Now I can spew acid like Acidwrym and I can replenish acid by changing my Mana to the attributes of an acid.' Kei becomes a little excited after thinking about the future possibilities of this power. 'If I fight and defeat powerful opponents then I have the chance to take their attributes.'

After walking for a while they regroup with the people who were waiting for reinforcement and they were shocked that Kei and the group were able to defeat the boss with such a low manpower and that also a boss monster who was high-ranked. The group which did not attack heard the news of the people who died and they were sad because of it. But they did not wanted to stay in the dungeon any longer so they exited the dungeon together.

When they left the dungeon they greeted a scene for which they were not ready for. In front of Kei and the group were standing a lot of hunters ready for battle. It seemed like they were gonna enter the dungeon and conquer it. The hunters who were ready to enter the dungeon were also shocked to see people coming out of the dungeon because the dungeon was forcefully evolved to rank B. They thought that the group which entered either died or were waiting for the reinforcements but they never expected that the group would clear the dungeon.

A person from Kei's group pointed and said "They're from Celestial Vanguard." then they noticed the news reporters who were present there and they were about to interview the hunters of the Celestial Vanguard guild. But after they exited all the news reporters turned their sight towards them and started to record them.

Kei was not happy with the situation and was thinking whether to leave or not but he decided against it.

Steph came forward and started to handle the situation but the hunters who were from the Celestial Vanguard were not happy. Not only they came here for nothing as they couldn't attack the dungeon and they even had their limelight stolen from them. They were going to protest but the leader of their group stopped them and he said "You'll know that guild leader doesn't like these types of manners so BEHAVE!"

After hearing this they calmed down because they knew the temper of their guild leader. The group leader who was in his armour started to think 'We have to assess the situation fast and know how a bunch of D-ranked hunters managed to clear a B-ranked dungeon. Guild leader would love to hear it.'

This man was Vector Hynes. He is very popular on social media as he is very handsome but he doesn't like the limelight that much instead he is interested in battles and powerful people. He is powerful himself, he rose to high ranks in the guild because of the achievements that he has achieved. He has an incredible amount of growth speed and is now an A-ranked hunter who can step into rank S anytime.
