Ella Smith

“What made you decide to grow up? You are tired of what life has given to you?” Darifa asks with a bit of sacarsm. “You have been so naive.” "Naive," Ella shook her head dejected after another disappointment. She had been on the run for as long as she could remember, not sure of what chased after her. Sometimes she feels that the first thirteen years of her life was a dream, a house to call her own, family, wealth, and influence all disappeared like they never existed. “I am tired of running, it is time to go back and get answers,"She nods. “I have decided to give life what it has given to me too.” “How do you intend on paying back?” Asma asks out of curiosity. “I will pay back in tenfolds, be it pain or happiness. I will pay it back in the folds.”

COULD IT BE ALZHEIMER?

Jessie walks back to the sitting room, the girls she punished earlier are still on their kneels waiting for her in fear. She walks to them and sits on a couch opposite them. "Since when have you seen this video on the net?" She asks calmly.

"Just today ma'am." Maria replies.

"Did you try to call the attention of anyone when you saw the video?" She asks again.

"No." Maria shakes her head.

"Instead, you enjoyed watching the video." Jessie says already raising her voice.

"We are so sorry ma'am." Emily apologizes.

"This will be the last time I will be pardoning both of you. I won't be nice next time, I promise you that." Jessie stands and drops their mobile phones. "You can have your phones and get the hell out of my presence."

The girls picks their phones and rushes out in fear.

Jessie looks around the sitting room, thinking of what to do concerning the video of her only child and daughter on the net. She picks up her phone form her bag and dials a number. "Hello, pascal."

"Good evening ma'am." Pascal greets.

"There is a video of my daughter circulating round the net at the moment, see to it that video get removed from all public platforms immediately." She orders.

"Yes ma'am." Pascal replies. "Concerning Andrew, I have some news but it isn't confirmed yet."

"Andrew?" Linda asks with a lot of excitement, even though it's been ten years, she is still dangerously looking for him.

"Yes ma'am."

"Please tell me about it."

"Actually." Pascal sighs. "Someone said he was last spotted in a country named Burundi."

"Burundi? Where is that?" Jessie asks.

"I was told it is a country here in Africa, but he was spotted ten years ago, few days before he cut contact."

"Really?"

"Yes ma'am." Pascal replies.

"That means we have an inkling on where he might be."

"Yes, but this information was ten years ago ma'am."

"I know." Jessie nods. "But we have to check ourselves to be very sure we do not leave out any information. We never can say he might need our help there."

"So what do you suggest I do now?" Pascals asks.

"Can you go to Burundi to look for him, don't just check Burundi alone, check all the neighboring countries too." Jessie exhales deeply. "I promise to pay you whatever you want."

"Okay ma'am. I will work on that."

"Pascal please, make sure you go there yourself. Look for Andrew, we must find him no matter what it takes."

"I will try my best to find him ma'am." Pascal promises.

"Please, don't forget Ella too." Jessie reminds. "Or do you have any news on her too?"

"Not yet ma'am, I have no news on her yet ma'am." Pascal clears his throat. "Speaking of Ella, we have been searching for her for the past ten years but she is no where to be found. Don't you think we should just give it a rest?"

"No!" Jessie or retorts. "Until I confirm it that she is really dead, I will never stop looking for her. I will pay you whatever you want, just find her for me, is that clear?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Alright, that's all I have to say for now."

"Okay. Please take good care of yourself." Pascal says and hangs up.

In time, Paul walks in looking very stressed out and tired, most especially, older than his age.

Jessie looks at the time and realizes, it's just evening, she wonders why her husband is home that early.

"You are home so early today." She whispers to her husband.

"I think I need to rest." Paul answers quietly and sits in the couch. "My head is banging so hard."

"Paul? Are you sure you are okay?" Jessie asks.

"I think I will be fine when I have a good sleep." Paul whispers already closing his eyes to sleep.

Jessie looks at her husband again, why is he even talking to her and answering her questions? He never wants to have any sort of contact with her but today, he even sits to talk to her. "Go in and sleep."

"Oh come on Alex!" Paul says with his eyes still closed.

Jessie immediately moves to him and pats him to open his eyes. "Paul, are you okay?"

Paul opens his eyes and smiles at her. "Alex, I said I would be fine after a good sleep." He closes his eyes again to sleep.

Jessie covers her mouth in utmost shock and disbelief. "Something is definitely wrong with his memory." She says in her mind. "Could it be Alzheimer?" She asks herself almost crying.

Looking at how pitiful he was, tears actually start rolling out of her eyes. He had suffered a lot in the love triangle and revenge, he had to even choose to over work himself and look older than his age because he doesn't want to have any contact with Jessie.
