The overhead lights seemed to follow them as if sensing their every move, while the area they had just left plunged back into a murky darkness.
"How strange!" Avery Miller took a few quick steps to catch up.
She had closely examined their surroundings and found no one else around, so why were the lights tracking them? Could they be voice-activated sensors?
Yet, every time she looked up to find the source, there was nothing there. The light appeared to emanate from nowhere, without any visible source or physical object, like a magic trick conjured out of thin air.
