Prologue: Proclamation of War

Heavy droplets of rain splatter on the windscreen of an ambulance as it went through the heavy jammed traffic towards the hospital. The attending paramedics try their best to gave the patient immediate emergency treatment. There's a black car towed behind them as the driver anxiously drove and occasionally punched on the horn when other driver tried to cut her lane.

Soon she rushed to park her car and sprinting into the emergency department. "The..the patient..emergency..wheeled in..just..now.." The unkempt woman breathlessly tried to inquire about her best friend situation.

"OT2. But you need to filled in the patient's information as we did not find any identification on her," the nurse quickly said before the woman could rushed inside.

The woman quickly scribbled on the form together with her own name and contact number before she dashed upstairs and soon stopped in front of the operation theater number two. Her adrenaline rush depleted and she unmannerly flopped down on the floor while staring down at her bloodied hands. Her best friend's blood to be precise.

She did not know how long she knelt down on the cold tile before the previous nurse pulled her up and made her sat on the nearby chair. She just absentmindedly nodded when the nurse spoke. "There's a restroom at the back, perhaps you should clean yourself first. The surgeons are doing their best to save your friend and it'll take long hours. Don't be too hard on yourself."

She broke from her dazed mind when the theater's door was opened and the doctors came out, clearly lethargic by the long surgery.

"How..how's she?" She grabbed and shaked their arms. Despair clouded her eyes when the doctors glanced at each other...clearly did not know how to let her know without her feeling brokenhearted.

"She was saved and already wheeled into the NSICU ward. She suffered a contusion as the result of the impact from the accident, in which is the coup injuries and she had hematoma too but we managed to remove the blood clot. We still need to observe her condition further either she suffered a secondary brain injury or not. And she was paralysed from her waist downward. Unfortunately we had to amputated both her legs below her knees to save her life as they were mangled beyond saving. And she might not be able to get pregnant in the future as the result of the paralysis. We're sorry for her loss."

The woman flopped down once again after the doctor finished speaking and left. She wants to scream her lung out but in the end she just sobbing without sound. Her body shook by how hard she cried. "I'm sorry Mingxia..I'm very sorry XiaXia..if only I..I was there..faster.. Forgive me..." Her tears dropped on the floor like an endless waterfall.

After a long hour, she shakily rose up from the floor and made her way slowly towards the NSICU. She trudged along the hallway until she finally arrived in front of the room. From the large glass window, she can see her best friend peacefully laid on the bed with numerous machines, monitors and tubes connected with her body. There's some superficial wounds on her face and arms. Overall her body looked swollen. The most heart-rending was her bandaged legs.

She felt like crying again but she hold back her tears as she vowed in her heart to avenge her best friend, but now she needs to be strong and clear-headed so she can be the strength pillar of Fu Mingxia.

"Liang Mei Lien, Wang Tai..and your allies..laughed as you wish now before we come as your biggest nightmare. Only at that time you'll repent hard and regret ever messing with us. We'll be your ghost during the day while your horror at night.

"XiaXia, I'll help you get everything back from them, even the thing as tiny as a dust. I'll fight your war together with you," Xue Ling clenched her fist tightly before she splayed her hand on the glass window as if she was caressing Fu Mingxia's face. She pecked the back of her palm and gazing at Mingxia again before she striding away to prepare the weapons and strategies for their inexorable war.

In the grand mansion on the east side of the city, several people laughing and chatting merrily about their successful alliance before toasting for the couple sitting at the front of the long table. Unbeknown to them, their doom day was already counted.
