More than you can chew

"You're . . you're . . . " The words were caught in his throat, he swallowed, turned to Silver and tried to whisper, "She's Aria!" but his whisper was loud enough to be heard by people around them. And quite a lot of people had gathered around them, attracted by the commotion.

Aria sighed internally. "Why do I draw so much attention?" she thought to herself, and decided that this seat wasn't worth fighting Silver for. Se had just sat here because Winchesta was the person she knew the best in this class, but that apparently came with a lot of trouble.

Aria had begun to get up from the seat when Silver's voice rung out. "So what if she's 'Aria'. I don't think she is that good of a fighter. I saw her last year during the fights, she was good. But I am better." she said, flipping one of her braids over her shoulder.

Aria let out a small smile upon hearing this. She had no idea anyone could be so naive in this academy. Silver was comparing the current herself to Aria one year before. Sure, she would have improved since the last time Aria saw her, but Aria had improved too. A lot. And it wasn't chance that she had the best room at the whole academy.

Aria thought it would be fun to let Silver have a glimpse of what she wanted to compete with, but, as usual, Natalia's voice rung in her ear and Aria remembered the promise she had made. She shook her head with a sigh and turned her legs towards the back of the class, where she could see some empty benches.

"Look, she isn't that great after all, considering how she runs away from a challenge. Too scared to give up that nice, pretty room of yours Aria?" Silver called out behind her, unwilling to let this go. "All this drama over a seat and a room?" Aria thought as she turned around.

"I suggest you to not bite off more than you can chew." A voice from behind Silver commanded everyone's attention. Aria looked at the big, muscled boy who had just spoken as he walked over to her. "Hey Gared. How are you?" she asked as Gared greeted her with a smile. But Silver flipped her braid and spoke, "I am certainly not biting anything, and definitely not more than I can chew. I am sure Aria isn't actually that good in a fight." Her eyes narrowed as she said, "In fact, I bet these scars are not from any great battle with the night warriors. She probably got into a fight with some thugs, and made up a story to save her pride."

Aria's eyes widened with every word. She could no believe what she was hearing. Once upon a time, Aria had actually kind of liked Silver. The girl was strong, and seemed like a good person. But Aria saw how wrong she had been. This was more than even she could take. Just as Aria opened her mouth, and was about to break her promise of being a kind person for the second time in her life, a voice from the front of the class boomed.

"I will have none of this riff-raff in my class." All the students turned to stare at Professor Pockett, a giant of a man with a brown, bushy beard and narrow eyes.
