9: Highschool

Alright. It's time to convince my father and grandfather.

As we were eating dinner...

"Appa, Harabeoji (Grandpa), I want to study high school abroad," I tell them nonchalantly.

{General POV}

Lee Hin-Su (Grandpa) widened his eyes, while Han-Ji almost choked on his food.

"What? Why?!" asked Han-Ji.

"What do you mean, Oppa?" asked Subin.

"I just want to..." Shinji replied.

"What do you mean-" exclaimed Han-Ji but was cut off.

"Sigh, what school did you have in mind, Shinji?" asked his grandfather.

"The World's Awakened Academy," replied Shinji, which shocked both men, while Subin was just confused.

"What? How did you know about that Academy?" asked Hin-Su.

The boy replied, "Seongha told me about it and then I did my own research."

...

After a few minutes of talking, his father was still not on board with Shinji studying abroad.

"The students there are on a totally different level, Shinji. I am not allowing you to go there." told his father sternly, which made Shinji sigh.

'"I'm going there whether you like it or not" is what I'd like to say...' thought Shinji, but he said,

"Okay, fine. How about I spar with Seongha? Just look at my progress, Appa."

"No."

"Sigh. Hanji, just let him spar with Seongha. Shinji is more stubborn than you. We'd get nowhere if this goes on." told Hinsu, which silenced Shinji's father.

After a few moments, he spoke,

"Alright. Fine. But here are my terms; You need to land a hit on Seongha in under 5 minutes. If you don't, you're going to study here."

"I accept!" exclaimed Shinji with a malicious grin, but suddenly, Subin shouted.

"Wait, wait, wait!"

"What about me? I want to go with Oppa!" she added.

"If you can beat me, you can go with me..." replied Shinji with a teasing tone.

"T-that's not fair!!!"

A day later...

The sun was shining, with both Shinji and Seongha standing in front of each other, with a few meters separating them.

Seongha looked to the spectators, composed of a pouting Subin, a proud-looking grandfather, and his master looking very intensely towards him.

It made him nervous, as his master's face almost seemed to scream,

'If you get hit even once, I'll make your life hell, Seongha!'

....

A maid was standing on the side holding a bell. After a few moments, she started counting down.

"3!..."

"2!..." she shouted and Shinji raised his hand with a massive grin.

"1!..."

"Start!" As soon as those words left the woman's mouth, a ball of ice was made in a second and was launched towards Seongha at great speeds.

Seongha, seeing as he couldn't block the ball in time, dodged it and raised his hand.

But completely surprising the spectators and the young man, he felt something cold hit him on his neck.

"I win!!! Bwahahaha!" laughed Shinji as he made Dio's "Wryyy" Pose.

...

If glares could kill, Seongha would have died a hundred times by now.

"Well, it looks like Shinji's going to study abroad, Han-Ji..." told Hin-Su with a proud smile, looking at the laughing boy.

"No... That doesn't count..." Han-Ji tried to refute.

Hin-Su sighed and replied, "If that ball was something sharp, and it hit Seongha's neck, then he would have died, Hanji. Open your eyes. They're getting older, and you need to accept that. If you continue to oppose Shinji's 'wants', then that will only create a crack in your relationship with him."

The old man adds, "I know you don't want to be separated from them, but you can't always be by their side. Other than that, there are still two years until he goes to high school. Make the most of those years, lest you may regret it."

The wisdom from Shinji's grandfather calmed Han-Ji down and made him contemplate a few things.

After a few seconds, Han-Ji approached the laughing boy and the awed girl and said,

"Fine, Shinji. You won. You're going to the World's Awakened Academy. But there's one thing I want to add to my terms..."

"What is it?..." said Shinji warily.

"You need to visit us every summer break, okay?" told Han-Ji, which made Shinji smile.

"Of course," replied Shinji with a smile, and Subin added,

"And, and, you need to bring souvenirs! If you don't, then I... I'm going to hate you! Heh." she said with great confidence as if Shinji would never be able to refuse.

"Fine..."

One week later...

{Shinji POV}

As I was going out of the mansion, I could hear a door opening, and what came out was a shivering Seongha...

The f*ck!?

"Hey, what happened!?"

"Shinji?... Please... Help me... Get me out of that frozen underworld..." he said in a raspy voice.

"Seongha? We're not don- Oh! Shinji! Don't mind him. He's just tired. You can go on now..." my father told me with an innocent smile, which made me scurry.

'May the Force be with you, Seongha.'

As I was opening the door, I could hear my father add,

"Also, I have a very great gift for you once you go to High School!" he said with enthusiasm.

"Now, where were we..."

F*cking hell. I'm sorry, Seongha...

It's all for the greater good... of Shinji Lee!

Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Anyway, I wonder what gift I am getting...
