28: Victory

A few more back and forths happened between the two students.

Duke sent a blade of energy towards Shinji, but it was blocked by a wall of ice.

...

After a few minutes, the two students started breathing heavily.

Shinji grinned while wiping the sweat forming on his forehead, while Duke frowned in annoyance and disbelief.

'Alright, I think it's time to finish this...' decided the raven-haired boy.

'I- How... Why are we fighting on equal grounds... 𝙃𝙚 should have been defeated by now...' thought Duke in shock.

...

Shinji raised his hand and blasted an attack toward Duke. The boy then countered it with an attack of his own.

Mist covered the battlefield again, and Duke's face contorted in anger and irritation.

...

{Shinji POV}

For my finishing move, I need to keep him busy to do it.

So, I send Ice Spikes toward Duke, while I create thick walls of ice surrounding us.

The mist will obstruct his vision so he won't be able to notice my finisher... Muahahaha!

The spikes I'm propelling towards him will both keep him busy and tire him as well. It's friggin' genius!

...

I need the walls to keep him from running away, essentially dodging my finishing move.

Phew... Alright. It's done.

I then point my hands to the sky, essentially looking like Goku, when he summons a Spirit Bomb'.

I form a protective dome of ice around me and after that...

The mist clears... and I shout, "Eternal Ice Cascade!"

Dozens of huge rectangular ice fall from the sky, heading towards our battlefield.

I then use Gyrokinesis to increase their speeds.

What do you think of that L!??- Ahem-, Duke. This is my perfect victory! That's right! I WIN!!!

{General POV}

Outside of the dome, countless chunks of ice fell. And as they touched the ground, another would form.

You could see Duke helplessly dodge the falling ice. To those he can't dodge, he'd block it with his Ability.

He rushes to the walls and attempts to break them. But, no matter much he tried, he never could. And, once cracks form on the wall, Shinji would use water to restore it.

That's why Duke tried the next best thing... Destroying Shinji's dome.

But... once Duke came close to it... spikes would protrude from the dome, threatening to pierce him.

Inside the dome, Shinji couldn't stop himself from grinning, ear-to-ear.

...

Outside the walls, students could only see a figure running from place to place.

"And there he is, folks! Duke Greyne cannot stay in one place or he will be hit by the genius attack from the Cryomaniac!" commented a brown-haired boy, standing on a root construct.

"Oh? It looks like he is now attempting to attack the source of the attack himself! Oof, but it seems that he can't get close to him!"

"You surprisingly came up with a good idea, Thorne." said a floating, smiling student.

Another chided, also standing on the root construct, "I agree with Asher..."

"It's only a matter of time until the Speed Demon falls! Will he be able to hold out until the end, or will Shinji prevail!?"

...

After a few more minutes... ice stopped forming and falling from the sky.

Both students were exhausted, one from dodging attacks, the other, tired from making them.

Duke's legs finally gave out, and Shinji wasted no time. He immediately wrapped the white-haired student in ice, immobilizing him.

"That was a good fucking fight!" shouted Shinji as his dome, and all of the walls melted.

He lay on the ground, breathing heavily, but with a happy smile.

...

"N-no way! The Cryomaniac beat Duke!" exclaimed some of the students.

Others muttered, "M-my money..."

Three students then approached Shinji and Duke.

"Yo! That was sick as-" exclaimed Thorne but was cut off by a yell from behind them.

"What is the meaning of this!?"

"It's Miss June!"

"How did she know!?"

"Who snitched!?"

A few days later...

{Shinji POV}

We sure got an earful from our previous Science Teacher, and also got detention... But it was all worth it.

One, I asserted my dominance over Duke. Two, I got to use two of my newly gained abilities in the battle.

My Bloodbending and The Surface Thoughts Scanning ability.

Surface Thought Scanning was what the user called it, but... I shouldn't really call it that. It's more of an Action Prediction ability, since using it, I can see the actions the target will take... I can only see a few seconds ahead though...

Heck, maybe if I fully master it, I can see a few years into the future and I can be a Psychic!

But, that's just wishful thinking...

Now, regarding the Bloodbending... My efforts weren't in vain! I could totally move Duke's arm!

Though I could only swerve it a few centimeters to the side, the fruits of my experiments still showed!

Sigh... It looks like I still need to focus on Bloodbending...

Wait... I still haven't gotten my part of the profit from the betting... Where are those fu-

Ah! There they are!

"Hey, Thorne, Cassy!" I call out to them.

"Hey, Shin! You out of detention?" Thorne tells me.

"Hi, Shin..."

I wrapped my arms around their neck and answered, "Yeah yeah, listen... Where's my cut of the betting?"

The question made Thorne nervous, heck even Cassy seemed to flinch!

"W-what do you mean, betting?..." asked Thorne.

"What? You thought I wouldn't know you set up a Betting Event?"

"Damn! Asher, that smiling bastard, totally told you, right?" questioned Thorne.

"... He even promised us..." I hear Caspian mutter.

I mean... Scotus was the one who told me but... who doesn't love a little chaos, here and there?

"Yeah! Asher told me, as soon as I got out of detention. Now, where. Is. My. Cut?"
