Rennala, Queen of The Full Moon

[A/N: If you haven't played/finished Shadow of The Erdtree, I suggest you do not read any comment left on the story from here on out. 

I will not touch anything related to the DLC until next month or so, but I have no control over what any reader comments. I guarantee that you will be spoiled of certain things, so please do not blame it on me.]

(Brutalus POV)

As we were being escorted to the main room where Rennala was awaiting us, I looked outside to notice that night had fallen. The stars above in the sky were bright and mesmerizing. 

It reminded me of my first time coming to Raya Lucaria, The Academy where Rennala was. I fought and defeated "Her" quite easily, but gained access to Rebirth after the fight. I didn't know what to make of Rennala after the fight. It would only be later, via Miram, that I learned that the woman was nothing shot of depressed that Radagon and her children left. And she also believed Ranni was actually dead. 

The Academy itself changed a lot, the halls were much newer and had no dead-looking bodies walking around. Also, the mages didn't spam their stupid glinstone pebbles at me and the ones with swords and shields didn't rush me like annoying maniacs. 

All that said, I couldn't help but notice Baeron was running ahead and looking at the massive paintings hanging on the walls. Raya Lucaria soldiers that were posted alongside the walls couldn't help but shift uneasily at the sight of a small boy running freely. 

"Wow!" Baeron said as he pointed at the large painting of General Radahn, "Big guy!" 

I stopped, "Hm." I said as I stood behind him, "Yes, he was quite large, wasn't he?" 

"General Radahn, Son of Rennala." Malenia said, "I didn't expect her to keep portraits of her children." 

I nodded, "I'm surprised." I said, "I guess she does care about her children." 

"My Lady is awaiting you." I heard Moongrum speak up ahead

I looked at him, "Alright." I said reaching down and picking my boy up, "Come, Baeron." 

"Let us go."

"Lady Rennala." Moongrum announced as the doors to the room opened, "The Elden Lord known as Brutalus and the Empyrean known as Malenia have arrived." 

As I walked inside, Baeron sitting on my shoulders, I caught a whiff of lavender. I looked around the massive library to see lit candles scattered throughout the place, illuminating the dark corners of the room. 

It was the same Library where Rennala would often be, waiting for me to switch some stats sometimes. 

"Ah." I heard a calm and soothing voice, "Elden Lord, hm?" 

I looked ahead and saw Rennala sitting on a chair as she held a massive book in her hands. She wore her usual clothes, save for the crown that she normally had, leaving her long and dark hair draped around her shoulders. 

As she laid eyes on me, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by said eyes. They were beautiful, as beautiful as Marika's current blue eyes. It was something unsettling, there was different feeling I was getting from Rennala. I often spent time with her, trying to make conversation in the past; she would often repeat the same things about sweetings and rebirth. One time, she mentioned how she missed Ranni and Radahn terribly. 

"I....." I stammered

"Rennala, Queen of The Full Moon." Malenia spoke up, "You're in the presence of Lord Brutalus, the new Ruler of The Lands Between. We are here to speak about your recent incursions." 

Rennala closed her book and gave me a sweet smile, "Would you blame me, Lord Brutalus?" She said, "Your New Order threatened the second chance of my people, the people of Liurna. I was only acting in defense of my home." 

I cleared my throat, "I care not for your reasons, Rennala." I said placing Baeron down, "The fact is that you ordered for your armies to rally against mine. I told Malenia to spare the most she could, but bloodshed couldn't be avoided. It was quite smart for your commanders to retreat, we do not want to conquer this place with destruction." 

Rennala narrowed her brows, "What is this then?" She said, "The last time the followers of the Erdtree came down to Liurna, I was betrothed to Radagon." 

My eye twitched, "There is no Erdtree, Rennala." I said, "It's gone. This New Order, it is nobody else's but mine. Marika is my Queen Consort, that is all. As for what this is.....what do you think? I wish to speak of peace, for the sake of your people." 

"For the sake of my people?" She said

"Surrender yourself to Lord Brutalus, swear fealty." Malenia spoke up, "And we shall not march further down with our full might." 

"I am not worried in the slightest about your armies, Lord Brutalus." Rennala said as she slowly stood up, "Do you understand what the Reshaping did? You defied the Erdtree, got rid of it, and remade the Lands Between to your whim. But you must understand, what it did caused many other things even you do not understand." 

I raised an eyebrow, "Is that so?" I said, "What are you trying to say?" 

"There is no Elden Ring." Rennala said, "You journeyed all over these lands, did you not? You slayed all Shardbearers you came across, save for Malenia. The fact that there is no Elden Ring means that those events became undone." 

I didn't know what she was saying....

Undone? What does that mea-

Wait. 

Moongrum is back. Many others that died on my journey were also brought back from the Reshaping. 

That means.....

"Rennala...." I widened my eyes, "You.....you're not saying...." 

She smiled, "Oh yes, my dear Elden Lord." She said as she raised her hand slightly, "Those who bore the Great Runes, have been brought back. The Reshaping was indeed a powerful event that warped the reality of the Lands Between. Why must I be the only one that understood this?" 

"If you're not worried about our armies...." Malenia said, "That must mean...." 

"Indeed." Rennala said as she raised her hand to her hair and stroked it, "Caelid and Mt. Gelmir are on Liurna's side." 

"My Sons are protecting me."
