Chapter Five

The interior of the car was a contrast of the harsh cold outside , the leather seats seemed to be self heating. Warming me from the chill that managed to sink right into my bones. My heartbeat slowly reduced it's pace the more I sunk into the comfort of the warm cushion. I allowed my gaze to drift over the features of the car , right to Castiel's side profile , watching the way he drove. One tatted arm on the steering wheel and one arm cocked on his door, supporting his head. His midnight black hair brushed the top of his forehead, hiding his gaze from me. I didn't know much about cars but this one screamed luxury.

Once my fear faded ,an undercurrent of energy wafted over my senses. It was dark and unsettling ,crawling over my skin in a way I wouldn't describe as comfortable.

"I knew you were stupid but to stand on an empty road at night, Elena . That stupidity is beneath you but then again you're full of sad surprises" Castiel scoffed, his tone an ice sword piercing the warmth surrounding me. It was cold and jarring ,sparing no room for feelings. No one had ever spoken to me like that , like I was on the lowest level of the low. Nothing but dumb trash.

Anger sparked deep in my chest, ignoring the cold dark energy that threatened to to dampen my spirit.

"I wouldn't have been on the road if you had just accepted to be my partner" I spat back with equal venom.

"You were supposed to go back to your room like every other sensible human being. You would have gotten a bus back and you would have been safe " He all but growled back. The car begun to go faster.

"Well I apologize that I'm not as smart as you oh great Castiel. King of all wise ones" My voice rose in tandem , sarcasm dripping from my tone. The car went even faster.

"Don't use that tone with me duckling" There was a sinister edge to his voice that made a shiver run through my whole form. The pulsing energy that wove through the car seemed to wrap around my neck, suffocating me for a second....daring me. Even faster...

"Or else what" I swallowed against the uncomfortable feeling. A gasp flew out of me when the car came to an immediate halt sending me flying into the hard surface of the glove compartment. That would definitely bruise.

I groaned, lifting myself from the car floor unto the seat.

"You're so childish" I grumbled, rubbing my arms and knees.

"There's a red light, I don't think you'd want me to get a fucking ticket darling" He said dryly.

"Fuck you" I snarled, looking out of the window away from his striking form bathed in the red rays of the traffic light. He said nothing after that , silence settling between us.

A few seconds passed. "Why were you still around and how did you know I was still there?" I couldn't help but ask the question that lingered on my tongue.

"That's none of your business" He said simply, leaving no room for further questioning. I grit my teeth to stop myself from hurling obscenities at him.

I absolutely hated the way he so easily got under my skin effortlessly. I watched from the corner of my eye as he sighed and turned up the volume. I half expected heavy metal rap to start blaring out of the speakers, instead one of my favorite R&B numbers came playing.

"You know this song?" I blurted before I could stop myself.

"Well if it's playing in my car , it's very obvious I know it duckling"

"You just can't be nice for once can you?" I rolled my eyes.

"I can" The car started moving again. "But I don't plan on"

My eyes drifted close , humming to the tune of the song. "Mr. Big bad wolf being a fan of R&B doesn't really add up Castiel "

"A lot of things don't add up about me duckling"

I gave a little non committed hum, my eyes still closed. Exhaustion from the day begun to weigh down on my shoulders making me sink further into the car seat, slowly drifting off to sleep.

I jerked awake when I felt something stroke my face. I blinked to refocus on my surroundings my mind scrambling to figure out where I was. Did those group of men actually kidnap me? My brain replayed the scenes that occurred before I fell asleep. Castiel.

My body instantly relaxed , blowing out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding.

"I wonder what you're so scared about"

"I'm not scared" I turned to face Castiel. My breath got caught in my throat , surprised by how close he was to me. For a second I wondered if my breath hitched because of the surprise or because of his roughened ethereal beauty that seemed to suck me in every single time I looked at him. He didn't looked like he was carved by the greek gods , he looked like he was a greek god himself. And those eyes.

Those eyes.

Those scotch colored eyes that made you heady with every passing look into them. Almost like you were downing a bottle of the scotch itself, the burn warming you up from your stomach and slowly running through your limbs. His lips were full and plump....they looked so incredibly soft too.

My eyes snapped up to his eyes , my face heating up when I realized he had caught me staring at his lips.

"You should be duckling" His voice was a mere whisper between us.

"What if I don't want to be , Cassy" I teased, referring to the nickname I had conjured when I was seconds away from being trained. I almost laughed with the way his whole looked darkened when I mentioned the ridiculous version of his name.

"Don't call me that" He snapped.

"Then don't call me duckling. I'm not an animal "

"But you sure do have the IQ of one" He retorted. I was about to give a cheeky comeback when his eyes snapped from my face to look at something outside. I spun around, following his gaze.

I hadn't noticed that we were now in the parking lot of my dorm. And I could very clearly see my room's window from this spot of the parking lot. Dread filled my veins when I watched Abby draw the blinds to peek at the car. Fuck.

The last thing I wanted for my roommate to be convinced her boyfriend was cheating on her with me. A few occasional admirations , yes, come on the dude was smoking hot. But indulge in whatever romance she was thinking of? Hard fucking pass.

I turned back around, a spark of disappointment lighting in my gut when I realized he had drawn away.

"I've got to go. Your girlfriend probably thinks you're cheating" I played with my fingers to avoid looking at him. That didn't last long. Soon enough my eyes darted up to watch him.

His full tapered eyebrows furrowed in what seemed to be confusion. His lips parted in an attempt to say something but he stopped himself , his eyes glued to his steering wheel.

"I don't-" He begun again but stopped himself again, sighing.

"Stay inside when it's night unless you're with Abby or Farren" He finally completed a sentence.

"Whatever .Thanks for the ride" I murmured, getting out.

My stomach dipped further in my belly with every step I took towards my room. My brain was filled with so many approaches I would use to explain to Abby. Words couldn't begin to describe how much I hated feeling like this. I'd been cheated on in all of the three relationships I'd ever been in and it's an awful feeling. A feeling I would hate for Abby to experience.

I swallowed, twisting the handle of my door. I slipped into the room, meeting Farren on my bed, her legs dangling in the air with her phone pressed against her cheek.

"Tell me you brought food, I'm literally starving and I'm in no mood for Abby's sad Craft's mac and cheese" Farren groaned.

Right on cue my stomach rumbled , reminding me that I had eaten just coffee and a stale bagel.

"Nothing here, you're low on luck" I shut the door after me, tugging my converses off my feet.

"Hey hey, no judging" Abby emerged from the kitchen , holding a steaming cup of microwavable mac and cheese.

"So.." Abby and Farren chorused, their eyes turning to me. A wave of giggles erupted from the three of us at that.

"The girls and I are about to have a chat babe, I'll call you later" Farren diverted her attention from me, twirling a lock of her hair between her fingers as she spoke to whoever the mystery boy was. "Okay bye"

"Bitch who the fuck is that" Abby gasped. "Babe?!"

"Guess" Farren literally squealed like a kid.

"The guy from the library?" I chipped in, peeling my jeans from my legs before joining her on my bed.

"He's short" Farren gagged.

"Justice for short kings" I chuckled.

"The nerd in your class?" Abby suggested, joining the both if us on my bed. For a second I forgot about the explanation for Abby.

"Hell no, he's just for homework" Farren countered, a smirk on her face for keeping us guessing who her new boy toy was.

"Wait!" Abby gasped with a mouthful of runny mac and cheese. "Don't tell me...is it Uriel?"

"You better know it" Farren clapped excitedly.

Uriel was one of the boys I usually spotted Castiel with. He was the definition of cute and quiet, never really saying much. But his looks said volumes and Farren had been crushing on him for quite a while now. Apart from Uriel , there was Azzy and Raph , also equally as hot.

"What the hell Farren, I can't believe you've been keeping this from us" Abby shoved a pillow into Farren's face.

"First of all I wasn't hiding it, second of all... since we're talking about boys ..." Farren trailed off. " What's up with Castiel ,Ellie"

My stomach dropped." Nothing" I sputtered.

"Ellie" Abby started.

"Abby I swear there's nothing going on. I get it that you're suspicious 'cause he's your boyfriend and all but-" I blubbered.

"Wait wait wait, what?" Abby stopped me in my tracks. A wave of confusion hit me when Farren and Abby burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter.

"Did you hear the girl?" Abby gasped for breath while clutching her stomach. " I literally can't bro"

"She said boyfriend" Farren was laughing so hard that she was turning red despite her milk chocolate tone.

After long while of glaring at them with my arms folded they were finally done laughing, wiping the tears that gathered at the corners of their eyes.

"Ellie darling" Abby could finally talk. " Castiel Star is no boyfriend of mine, he's my fucking cousin"

"Oh my God" I groaned into my hands, embarrassment creeping up my cheeks. "I didn't know that"

"So now that confusion is aside, what's up? wanna fuck him?" Farren said crudely.

"What? no. He's not my type" I mumbled , the memory of certain pair of lips flashing across my mind making me go red.

"Are you sure about that Ellie? You're literally as red as a freshly sprayed firetruck" Farren snickered.

"I swear I don't like him. He's honestly never nice to me" I huffed, hating the was I sounded disappointed about that. We didn't give a fuck right?

Right?

"Baby, he made you to sit in his car. That's more than nice for Castiel. He has never allowed anyone to sit in his car" Abby peered at me.

"It was a coincidence" I shrugged." I needed a lift and he happened to be there"

"Castiel giving lifts definitely does not match the description. That dude would drive right past any person if they were bleeding to death at the side of the road "Farren snorted.

"Ellie , Castiel is..."Abby trailed off, looking for a fitting word. "Unstable" She finally concluded.

She started again "I really do care about you and your love life and the fact that haven't gotten laid since I fucking knew you...but, Castiel is honestly no limits. I wouldn't forgive myself if I let Castiel break you. 'Cause darling he will, when he's done with you you'll have a death wish. He's going to wreck you "

"And break you" Farren added

"And tear your heart out of your chest" Abby continued

"Until you bleed out and he walks over your corpse. He gives zero fucks about anyone's emotions. The furthest he has gone is Abby, and even that one's rocky"

"Very rocky" Abby shuddered. " He cut ties from this world when his mom and twin sister died. He practically died inside too. That man is just a walking husk and Ellie if you think, he'll ever be anything more than a husk then you've got another thing coming. I've had to watch girls go in and out of his life , all of them leaving as a hot depressed mess"

The more they described him the more I realize I underestimated just how much of a freaking monster this boy was.

"I'm not going to end up like those girls , I promise" I crossed my heart with my finger playfully. "Besides , there's this guy I met in the dean's office. And he asked me on a date..." I trailed off, enjoying the way their ears practically perked up.

The rest of the night was full of boy talk and karaoke fueled by Abby's stashed scotch that weirdly reminded me of a pair of eyes I hated remembering.
