Chapter 7 - Tailored Modifications

"GUAAAAAAH!!"

Stop!! stop! stop!! I begged for the itchiness to stop.

My sharp claws etching onto my skin, I scratched and scratched.

Blood splattered, deep wounds forming as my claws keeps scratching my deep black skin.

After a while, It finally receded.

The wounds though deep, started regenerating itself miraculously.

Smooth obsidian-black scales started to emerge, as if my earlier scratch shedding skin was purposely planned for this to happen.

The blood and my old skin fell to the ground, allowing the new skin to take its place.

I was yet again gasping for air as I exclaimed to the ceiling loudly.

"Oh, for fuck's sake! I can't believe I forgot to add [Painless] again!" I said to myself, feeling like an idiot. I was so thrilled with my new legs and rushed that I completely spaced on adding that crucial detail.

"I better take care of this soon," I muttered to myself as I clicked around on the screen,

Once I had finished everything, I began to inspect my skin, tapping it with my claw as I recalled the infamous "carbon lodi" meme from a certain country in Asia.

I examined my body from head to toe and noticed that everything was now covered in a smooth, scaly, obsidian-black skin. The most dramatic change was on my head, where my hair was completely gone.

Honestly, I didn't give a damn about losing my hair because, let's face it, my current look was already pretty gross. So a bald head was no biggie to me.

While it may not have been a significant improvement, the mere fact that my skin received an upgrade was quite a relief to me.

After all that was done, I began to move on to the next. Did you think I was done? Nope nada—

Swiftly clicking on one of the remaining three drafts, I began to scrutinize it to ensure that there were no errors or issues.

This next modification plan was my tail.

While I could have gone for a pair of demonic wings, I ultimately chose to go with a tail. As a tail was more versatile and helpful in my current situation. Though in my situation, it's 'tails'.

The added modifiers and description were; [Bone Material], [Flexible], [Stretchable], [Hard as DuraSteel], and [Sharp].

After pressing save, another notification popped up.

[Would you like it to be {Painless}? (costs 1 soul)]

As soon as I saw the notification, a wide grin spread across my face. This was the feature that I had just added to my system, specifically to prevent me from forgetting such important detail in the future. I had made a conscious decision to prioritize this modification, and I was now reaping the benefits.

With this new feature, I could rest assured that I wouldn't make the same mistake again. It was a small change, with a small cost of 2 souls. But it would make a huge difference in my work and in my overall efficiency. I was glad that I had taken the time to make this modification, and I was already thinking of other ways that I could improve my system in the future.

After pressing 'Yes', I heard a ripping sound coming from my tail.

It changed and grew into what I had draw. After a while it was done.

It was weird, witnessing a drastic change in my body with but not feeling anything. It was truly weird.

The price of the modification was 10 souls +1 from adding [Painless] the total was 11 souls. Satisfied, I began to examine my new modified tail.

I had designed them myself, but I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction.

My tail have gone from being a tail>tails.

Splitting into two separate segments, a short distance from the base. It seemed as if I have grown another tail.

Each tail was covered in the same smooth, black-obsidian scaly skin.

Each tail had sections, ranging from thick to thin, that were beautifully streamlined. The tails had sharp edges on each side that continued till the tip, ending in a sharp pointy tip with a small sharp needle stinger. I could even open the sharp tip to reveal three bone knives that could be opened and closed at the tip of the tail. Additionally, there was a large needle looking stinger embedded in the middle of each tail that could be retracted and extended as needed.

It was clear that I had made the right decision in selecting a tail as my next modification. These new tails were incredibly versatile and could be used in a variety of ways. They could strike with incredible force, immobilize opponents, and even deliver deadly poison with their sharp stingers. With the added ability to open their stingers into three bone knives, I could now deliver even more devastating attacks to my foes.

As I continued to examine my tails, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in my work. I had created something truly remarkable, something that would set me apart from other demons.

With these new tails, I was one step closer to be able to take on any challenge that came my way.

Glad that the modification was a success, I brought the two savage serpentine-looking tail into view. It moved exactly as I wanted, no delay nor the slightest stagnation.

It was indeed a part of my body, the sharp tip opened as I willed. Seeing the sharp edge of the six blades, In the middle was a large slim needle which was the stinger.

"Damn, I feel like doc ock."

Now left with only 9 souls, I felt tired.

Undergoing three consecutive body mods was quite tiring,

'If I didn't have enough rest this past week, I doubt I'll be able to do this.'

Unlike Roy, I was able to have enough rest, does allowing me to not be like him, who after his first modification was tired enough to fall into a deep long slumber of 2 months.

Having the information, I decided to go through this route to not waste valuable time as 2 months is indeed quite long.

Instead of sleeping, I can go to 1 or maybe even 2 worlds in that time to empower myself further.

'though I doubt I'll need to.'

Shaking those thoughts away, I opened the system.

I was surprised by the change in my attributes. My strength had almost tripled, while my speed had increased so drastically that it was now my highest attribute. My magic, as always, remained at 9.

Satisfied with my significant increase in power, I decided to take a break and rest. Later on, I planned to test my improved strength and body modifications.
