Painful Masquarade

The other residents pile around the outside of the door Avic silently backs away, Doctor Melina rushes to the room with Elijah, "Dominique calm down please!"

He only clung to sheets, even more, burying his head into the bed itself wailing.

"HOW CAN I BE CALM?" Dominique shouts lashing out with his claws out, Trinity draws her sword at Dominique, he subsides only weeping more silently.

"Please compose yourself for Master Gavyn and memory..." She replies trying with all her might to keep composure, her voice breaks.

Chara comes through the large mass of vampires chattering, "Master Elijah, Alex was found in his quarters passed out, his hand was massively burned..."

Elijah turns to Chara and back at Dominique sitting with Trinity only nodding his head, "We will find out what happened later Chara...we must prepare for mass..."

Chara only bows fading back into the massive throng, Trinity locks her hands together around Dominique who is whimpering loudly to hold tightly in his arms.

"Gavyn isn't suffering anymore..." Trinity reassures Dominique," Please..."

"Just let me stay here the rest of the night please Trinity..."

"We need to get the room ready for mourning Dominique...you need to wash up."

He pauses a long time before taking her hand leaving the room, Trinity flicks her fingers out dispelling the others, "Please be kind and move out of the way..."

Dominique couldn't concentrate, everything made no sense to him that very moment, Trinity takes him back to his room pulling out a handkerchief wiping the ash dirtying his features.

He falls face-first into the pillow, "Just take it easy Dominique...I will stay with you the rest of the night."

The next day Dominique would dress in mourning clothes early in the morning, Trinity and Elijah had been there since Chara had set the curtain up over the door.

Gavyn's bed has been set with black sheets and blankets with his clothing set on top, his weapons lay to the side along with things like I.D and identifiers.

Those joining would share flowers and gifts to their masters, Alex shows with a single black rose; he bows to Elijah and Trinity, "I am so sorry..."

"How are you feeling today?" Elijah asks Alex gazing at his heavily bandaged hand.

"Oh, this? I feel nothing at all Master...you should be tending to your loss."

Alex turns away, déjà vu hits Elijah just by looking at him, "Alex?"

"Hmm...yes Master?" Alex replies silently, "Do you need my assistance?"

"I must be mistaken about something, sorry about that," Elijah responds softly.

Dominique would walk past Alex to the front to look miserably at the bed dressed with his memorabilia; he wants to cry but stops himself.

Trinity pulls him into a hug, he buries his head into his chest tugging on her clothing, he could feel everything breaking down inside of him.

Whispers could be heard in the crowd, "It's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fault!"

Every single face in the crowd had a warped face, unrecognizable to him, their mouths and eyes contorted not a single one he could point out gawking at them.

"It's...all...my...fault..." He murmured under his breath, "It's all my fault..."

"Dominique...take it easy please, it's not I assure you," Trinity replies, Dominique starts to hyperventilate, panicking, coming apart.

He screams attempting to knock Trinity away, her deformed features scare him so badly he would make an effort to bite into his palm about to spill his blood to the ground.

Elijah clutches his wrist dragging in a bid to get Dominique to stop, "Get a hold of yourself, Dominique! Can you hear me?"

Trinity slaps Dominique in the face, "Snap out of it, we know you were friends."

Everyone looks normal again, he wobbles a little before plummeting into Trinity's arms, his body quivers as tears stuck in the corner of his eyes looking forward.

"It's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's your fault." Is all Dominique could hear despite the masquerade of gruesome gnarled faces dissolving away with his tears.

Falling asleep in Trinity's arms, "Dominique, can you hear me?" Trinity asks echoes of guilt reflect deeply inside his soul.

Dominique wakes once again, but to have Chara and Alex by his side.

"Dominique!" Chara yells ready to cry, "No matter what we couldn't get you snap out of it!"

"Why is he here?" Dominique asks pointing at Alex, he hits his fingers, "Owe what was that for?"

"It's not polite to point..." Alex snaps, "I am here cause everyone else was busy."

"Of all the people I have to spend time with is you?"

"You talk in your sleep a lot." Alex states, "Anyways I will be with you today."

"You are seriously a weird vampire Alex...no one replies as you do."

"I never had a clan before."

"Never?" Dominique asks, "Was you alone this whole time?"

"It doesn't matter, I am just not fully used to this all yet," Alex says coldly, Dominique laughs taking the towel off from his head to sit up.

"Then I will be your friend Alex!" Dominique says with a smile holding his hand out to him, they shake.

"You literally fainted, you are on bed rest orders." Alex explains, "Take it easy."

His eyes seemed almost devoid of emotions holding his hold hand bundled up, this attracts Dominique's attention, "Why did you touch the door, Alex?"

"Oh so you know I touched it?"

"Of course I know, tell me what prompted you to do it!"

"Someone was crying, I went to check and thrown across the room."

"I see...so you just wanted to see who was crying?"

"The weird part is no one else heard it...I asked before attempting."

"Alex...thanks for being here," Dominique replies, Melina comes to visit knocking softly holding a silk bag.

She has a look of amusement on her face, "Are you feeling okay?"

"I am fine now, thank you for asking Melina."

"Can you please leave Chara...Alex?" Melina insists, "I am sorry."

They both leave silently, Alex catches a glimpse of Sophia standing not far from the door, everything about her aura down to her expression made Alex nervous.

"Hey idiot, why are you just standing there?" Alex questions, her head finally turning.

The reflections in her eyes glisten almost like a cats, he knows that isn't remotely even possible, Alex jumps back, "What is it? You got a problem with me now?"

"I am...I...hmm...are you alright?" Alex says thinking how to respond to the feeling in the back of his mind.

"I feel like I lost something important to me..." Sophia clarifies holding herself, he could feel a change in her that was not the madness she displayed before.

"You mean the man who passed on in that room?"

"He was everything to me..." Sophia points out, when Alex turns he can hear her crying to herself, he decides it is best to pursue it any further.
