A Tragic Tale of Desperation

In our village, there was once a girl who had been working away from home. For some reason, she ended up in debt, and her family arranged her marriage to a coal miner. On her wedding day, she fell from an upstairs window and went insane.

Despite prolonged treatment, her condition did not improve. Eventually, she was sent back to her parents' home. She roamed the village in a frenzied state every day, and the children, both fearful and taking advantage of her vulnerability, would harass her.

In one fateful year, she was dragged into a field by a bachelor and, in a fit of madness, beat him to death. The incident was reported to the police, and she was taken to the county's mental hospital. A year later, on the Dragon Boat Festival, she inexplicably returned to the village, armed with a knife and intent on killing her own father. The old man was terrified, so he climbed onto the roof and refused to come down.

Afterward, she disappeared without a trace.
