On planet earth, in the mid-nineteen hundreds, the concept of "magic" was accepted as a recognized and accredited form of technology and field of science. Contrary to its original occultist and storybook history...

The field of magic began to have rapid advancement after nations across the globe were united in pursuing this bizarre area of study to its fullest...

To that end, many educational institutes geared towards a more "magic"-centered education began to pop up until, in the end, these schools were recognized as the top-of-the-shelf, highest-level learning institutes...

In simple terms, a Magician (a contraction of the phrase "Magic Technician") is a being that can manipulate Psions.

Psions are the actual representation of intent and imagination that are in essence, an incorporeal element that contains cognizance. Although all beings have them, only magicians can manipulate them into sequences with the goal of influencing the physical world.

The amount of Psions a being possesses is commonly referred to as ones "Psion Count", and is a generalized way to gauge a practitioner's strength. However, after the advent of CAD technology which enabled more efficient and targeted Psion use, this measuring technique has lost a lot of practicality...

Like with most things humans develop, the goal has always been and will always be gaining warfare advantages against the enemy or potentially hostile countries. Magic and the development therein, was no exception...

Each country had its own way of training new magicians....leading to highly divergent experiences between countries.

One country, namely Japan, puts a high focus on educating their magicians from a very young age, with the goal of being accomplished in their field by the end of high school, whereas many other countries put more focus on high-level education...

To that end, one of Japan's most prestigious and sought-after schools is the National Magic University Affiliated First High School.

In the year 2050, around a century after society has come to recognize the paranormal, the field of magic has continued to grow....but there is currently a cold war underway. On the bright side, the populace believed that the advent of magic has reduced inter-country friction....but those in the know think otherwise.

The influence of magic has only forced these countries to develop small elites units, rather than large-scale war battalions. Thus, small unit magic squads are often tasked with infiltration, assassination, committing espionage...anything ordered by their country. Magic is only the weapon used...

Recently, the development of high-function CAD systems allowed for quick casting, raising the deadliness of magicians to a whole new level...and the value of talented individuals along with it.

In the United States of America, deep in what is still known as The Great Smokey Mountains, sat a cabin with no road leading to it.....it is surrounded by nothing but dense forest all around, leaving this location untouched to this day...

That is with one exception....two years ago, the fifteen-year-old James Monroe was a street kid that lived off pick-pocketing in the tourist trap that is Pigeon Forge, until a human trafficking organization abducted him....they escaped from the police into the Smokey mountains but, after a lucky turn of events, the boy escaped and fled into the woods...

After days of travel by foot and a few close encounters with wildlife, James found an isolated cabin way out here in the boonies and decided that this would be his home...

Now, the seventeen-year-old Monroe is lying on his bed recovering from Rocky-mountain fever.....a sickness easily treated by modern-day medicine and magic, but to an isolated young man like him, it was deadly...
