Chapter 10: The First Kin

Mordred's first course of action after saving Vali was to encourage her to eat.

And the magical creatures that he hunted down; called a rock bird were filled to the brim with magic energy.

It was like a giant dodo bird that had rock hard feathers. It was also resistant to magic. It's classed as a high class magical being. Dangerous against beings of the same category.

"W-what is this!? This is delicious!" Vali started stuffing her gullet with the fried chicken that Mordred created.

"Hmm, your seasoning is acceptable Mordred." Tiamat nodded at him and he beamed. "Thanks mom, I couldn't do it without you."

Masaomi and Cleria were also eating voraciously. That bird was a goddamned delicacy that costs millions.

Even rich households only eat it at special occasions. So his goons who weren't really receiving a salary considered it as payment.

They ate real good, Tiamat and Mordred only hunt the best monsters for ingredients.

Vali looked like a squirrel, her eyes shining. She was only fed mouldy bread and some water once a week.

She would've been dead a long time ago if she was a human.

"Oh my Satan... This is crazy good." Vali tried everything else.

From fried chicken, chicken steaks, chicken dimsums, chicken parmigiana. There were tons of it and she ate like a glutton.

"Calm down Vali, it won't run away. I made sure it didn't when I cut off its legs." Mordred smiled at her, happy that she enjoyed his cooking.

They ate merrily and Mordred didn't want to stay idle. "Ahhh, I should give some to Ise and Irina?" He took some Tupperware and stored it in his dimensional space.

"Ise and Irina?" Vali tilted her head. "They're our friends nya." Kuroka replied.

The nekoshou sisters were eating more calmly. Kuroka beat it into Shirone's head that they should be graceful like Mordred. Or they would embarrass him when they are his wives.

"Friends..." Vali looked thoughtful and Mordred patted her back. "I'll introduce you to them, let's go."

"I'll go with you, some dirty crow or bat might appear." Tiamat growled.

They went to the playground again where Irina and Ise were hanging out every day.

"Hi guys, I made a new friend. She's Vali Lucifer." Mordred presented the shy Vali. The white haired girl gripped his sleeves while hiding.

"Hello! I'm Irina Shidou. And your name is funny, Lucifer?" The brunette chuckled.

Meanwhile, Ise and Vali locked eyes and they glared at each other.

"I don't know, but I don't like her at all." Ise scowled and Vali growled at her.

"Same, punk." Vali spit out venomously. Mordred chuckled, thinking it must be due to their sacred gears.

"Ise! Apologize to Vali right now!" Irina huffed and smacked her on the head.

"Ow! Rin! Sorry." Ise grumbled and Mordred pinched Vali's side. Gesturing for her to apologize too.

"Apologies..." She whispered and they huffed at each other. "Now, now, let's get along." Mordred chided them and they agreed reluctantly.

Vali and Ise hugged his arms and were glaring at each other. "You're here to steal my friend aren't you?" Ise hissed.

"Shut up, Mordred is my friend and he approached me." Vali stuck her tongue out.

"I was his friend first." Ise had a smug smile on her face and Vali fumed.

"Well, I live with him. We'll spend so much more time together." Vali grinned.

"What!? That's not fair!" Ise was beginning to stir her magical power. Feeding it into her left hand.

"Wanna go!? Let's go!" Vali was ready to throw hands. Mordred smacked them on the head and they stopped.

Vali was about to call for divine dividing and Ise was going to awaken the boosted gear. So he stopped them.

"Shut up or I won't be lenient with you." He gave them a cold look and they squeaked.

"Sorry Mordred." They both said at the same time. "Apologize to each other, not me." He sighed, thinking that it would be quite difficult to make them be good friends.

"That's right nya, smack them some more!" Kuroka laughed and Shirone deadpanned at her sister's desire to mess with them.

"Nee-sama, Mordred will punish you if you continue goading them." Shirone reminded her.

"That's right, I won't feed you my food. I'll buy some convenience store lunch for you if you continue." Mordred warned.

She paled and Kuroka bowed immediately. "Not the convenience store lunch!"

He snorted and Irina was amazed. "Wow, you have them whipped Mordred."

"Where did you even learn that?" He raised a brow and she shrugged.

"Masaomi calls him that when mom lectures him sometimes." Irina pointed at the exorcist and Mordred gave him a look.

"I-it's not a bad word!" Masaomi tried to plead innocence.

"You have a point." Mordred granted him mercy, for now.

They started playing, the two dragon empresses reluctantly remained civil with each other.

And the time when Touji had to pick them up arrived. He sighed again, seeing another devil.

"Dad, we have a new friend! Her name's Vali Lucifer, isn't her name weird? Just like the fallen angel Lucifer!" Irina introduced Vali.

He froze immediately and Mordred gave him a meaningful look. Dragging a thumb along his neck.

"G-good for you sweetie." Touji didn't know if they could learn that he told the church about the new addition. So he would just keep it secret.

"I have a surprise for you guys, I made this myself." Mordred went to his goons to hide his magic. He returned with tupperwares of food.

"That looks nice~" Irina and Ise saw the foreign cuisine.

He opened one of the containers and they got a whiff of it. They started drooling immediately.

"Woah, that smells amazing!" Ise shouted in excitement.

Mordred then handed it to Touji so he would be the pack horse.

__A few days later__

Tiamat arrived with some boxes. "Mordred! I have a gift~" She gave him one of the boxes.

He opened it up and instead of the normal chess pieces. It contained ones that were dragons.

The queen is a western dragon that is perched on top of a tower. The rook was an earth dragon with thick scales and muscles.

The bishop is an eastern dragon that was wrapping itself on a spire.

The knights were bipedal dragons who were slim and looked to be lighter. And the pawns looked like standard dragons that are smaller than the others.

"What do I do to link it to myself mom?" He had an excited smile on his face.

"Just pour your magic energy on them." tiamat instructed and he did so.

The knights and queen turned into mutation pieces. Transforming into a white color instead of the crimson red.

"So you use this on me? How though?" Vali tilted her head. Though she was excited.

Kuroka and Shirone were jealous that he was turning her into his kin.

"Stop being jealous, here." Tiamat gave Kuroka a bishop piece and Shirone, a rook. Kuroka was more magic oriented due to the experiments on her.

Shirone was more inclined to touki and senjutsu, turning her into a heavy hitter. It also helped that her figure is small.

So she would be an annoying opponent who is small, fast, tanky, and has a mean hook.

"Thank you Tiamat-sama..." They bowed to her and they sprouted dragon wings.

The nekoshous looked at it with wonder. Their wings, a royal blue like Tiamat's scales.

Vali was excited at the sight and she immediately stood in front of Mordred.

"Will you, Vali Lucifer. Agree to be my kin?" Mordred raised four pawns that floated.

Using the rooks on the heavenly dragons was redundant. With their balance breaker, they would have full plate armor according to Albion.

Pawns might be the bottom of the barrel in essence. But they are the most versatile.

And their sacred gear rewards being versatile. The boosted gear increases all of your stats. While divine dividing steals them and makes it yours.

So they would be better off with a pawn that enhances nothing inherently. But can change due to the situation depending on their needs.

Need magic? Boost or divide and then promote to bishop, leading them to new heights with their increased mana.

Power and strength? Promote to the queen and have a general power boost that can mow down enemies.

And it is the same with the knight and rook that specializes in speed and defense respectively.

"On this day, I Mordred Pendragon. Promise on my pride as a dragon and the king of knights. That you, will be my kin forever." Mordred pushed the pieces into her chest and she breathed in.

White scales and gold horns appeared on her. A two pronged tail that was dripping with poison swished around. White feathery wings sprouted off her back.

"I... I feel good." Vali gripped her fist. "You got more in tune with me partner. I'd even say that you look like a human me." Albion chuckled.

Vali checked out her new appearance with excitement. She doesn't have her shitty bat wings anymore.

"Thank you Mordred! I'll be the best of your kin." She beamed at him.

"I expect you to do so." Mordred hugged her and she was all smiles.

"Kuu! We are dragons now too you know!?" Kuroka whined and he gave them some hugs as well.

Tiamat gave Masaomi a knight piece while Cleria is a bishop. They looked at the children with soft smiles.

"My baby is already forming a nest... They grow up so fast." Tiamat shed a tear.

"Love you mom, you're still the best. Even great red and Ophis can't compare." Mordred plopped down on her and hugged her.

"Isn't Tiamat-sama our greatest rival?" Kuroka whispered to Shirone.

"I think so... Tiamat-sama is always bragging that Mordred promised her that he would marry her when he grows up." Shirone squinted her eyes.

"And you know Mordred... He doesn't actually lie and means anything he says." Kuroka glowered. Their rival was his own mom, how can they compete with that?

"Now, time for your training Vali... You are Mordred's kin now. Your current self isn't actually up to par." Tiamat cracked her knuckles.

Vali nodded with determination, not really knowing that Tiamat is a slave driver. So much so that even Mordred and his goons get ragged after every training session.

So they began her training. And Vali was huffing and puffing while sweating bullets. Mordred tossing her an energy drink.

"That's just the basic one you know?" He informed her while they were having a run.

Tiamat bogged them down with gravity magic. And Mordred was already experiencing a hundred G's. Something that would kill normal people instantly.

Meanwhile, Vali was being weighed down by two G's. "Hah, hah, the basics?" She felt like she was dying already.

"Yeah, this is like our exercise to warm up our muscles." Mordred tilted his head and Kuroka was laughing her ass off.

"Vali nya! You have no idea what Tiamat-sama has for you!" She chortled and Shirone winced, remembering what Tiamat put them through.

"W-warm up?" Vali and Mordred just finished their run and she felt like her legs were like lead.

Her lungs were on fire as she tried to breathe and get oxygen.

Vali's knees were shaking. Her core was burning due to the exercise and everything hurt.

"Rest in peace partner, Tiamat didn't turn to the strongest dragon king without training you know? And now, she's most likely exerting herself more. You aren't an exception." Albion prayed for her.

"Now, it's time for some combat training? I have one advice, dodge or you'll regret it." Tiamat started her evasive training and shot Vali with her newfound powers.

Anti-dragon filled magic. She was now able to imbue it to her spells due to cycling magic with Mordred.

And Vali wasn't able to think fast. She got hit by a neutral magic missile that went through her scales and bones like butter.

She screamed and even Albion felt it due to the dragon slaying aspect of it.

Tiamat healed her up, Vali was sweating bullets and her eyes were bloodshot. Rizevim's worst wasn't comparable.

"Receive pain now so you won't regret it later Vali." Mordred helped her up and she calmed herself down.

"Bring it on! I can't be weak! Mordred's counting on me!" She released divine dividing got a boost in power.

"Good words, just hope it can keep up with your body." Tiamat started shooting them with her magic.
