Daily Life of Misfortune

The sound of the school bell echoed.

It signalled the start of lunch break. Students flooded the hallway as they head towards the cafeteria while others went somewhere else.

When all the students started moving around the school, there was the sight of Kamijou walking through the school yard. But he wore an unpleasant expression.

The reason for that was simple.

He was planning on eating lunch but it turns out he forget to get the groceries so he couldn't bring lunch to the academy. Therefore, he had to spend money which wasn't good news for Kamijou.

Getting food from the cafeteria was not a good idea. The place was obviously going to be crowded and Kamijou didn't go well with crowds. Crowds was his kryptonite. Let's not mention if he went there, he was going to somehow get up with the short end of the stick considering his terrible luck.

"It is said those born between January 20th and February 18th have the greatest luck. Work, Money, Love! No matter how incredibly improbable things may get, only good things will happen. Of course, that didn't mean they will win the lottery every time and get away with dating four to five girls at the same time. But still..."

The horoscope was completely wrong. Despite being born in February 16th, Kamijou had never experienced something known as a good luck charm. He was simply unfortunate and his daily life was as such. He believed the misfortune ran in the family but that thought process was completely wrong. His father won the lottery four times in a row and his mother was about the same. At times like these, he always thought he was adopted. In other words, he was the black sheep of the family.

Why was he unfortunate in that regard? Why was he born unlucky? He had received nothing but misfortune from the day he was born.

But did he let that get through to him? No. The reason being he had alot of drive.

"I will really love to just enjoy my lunch at a isolated place."

He immediately regretted those words as he suddenly had a sense of premonition. With the speed of a bullet, he dashed towards the school store.

But by the time he got there, it was already too late.

"...!"

The school store has already closed. Apparently, the other students had rushed here and brought everything the store had to offer.

Kamijou lost the strength in his knees and collapsed on the floor. It was unfair. Life was naturally unfair and Kamijou knew that but wasn't this too much?

Naturally, this was not the first time this was happening. It was either the school store won't open on that day or the students will buy everything before he got there.

At this point, this was no longer misfortune. The universe was just playing a huge prank on him.

He looked up. He felt thr soft wind blowing against his body. The wind was warm and the sky was beautiful.

"The sky was so bright yet my future is pitch black."

His spirits dropped sharply. There was no way he was going to cheer himself up.

He was the only man and having no one to share his pain to added to his depression. Let's not talk about the mental effect of living In a town ruled by devils.

Kamijou closed his eyes and felt the wind blowing against his skin some more. He felt he was part of the world as voices of all the students around entered his eardrums.

'Damn, when will this school end?'

'The line was so long'

'Breast'

'I need to study'

(...Hold up, did I hear that right?)

Kamijou suddenly felt something was not right.

'We can win this match'

'I need more coffee'

'Breast'

'The lesson was long'

'Breast'

(What in the actual fuck?!)

'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!' 'Breast!!!

Kamijou opened his eyes wide and looked around.

"Who is that bastard shouting breast in this bloody weather?!!"

Soon, he found the source of that perverted voice close to the girl's locker room.

"Ugh! Of course it had to be him."

There were three boys trying to peek through a hole in the hole. Obviously, they were trying to see what the girls were packing underneath their clothing. However, Kmaijou's anger wasn't directed towards the two boys but rather their leader who had a smile on his face.

Brown hair, brown eyes, an average build and 170 centimetres tall. That boy with a wretched smile went by the name Issei Hyoudou and was the protagonist of this world.

(If he tried to hide his perverted side, just maybe people will take him a little more seriously. How the hell did he end up with a harem? Honestly, I can't see it.)

Wait a minute, why am I angry? Kamijou suddenly thought. There was no reason for him to be angry. Was he jealous that Issei manage to marry multiple wives? Of course not! There was no way! That was definitely not it.

Kamijou denied it with all of his heart. Jealousy was definitely not the cause. Despite good looking himself, he hadn't been able to get a girlfriend. He hadn't gone as far as to confess but it was rather depressing that he hadn't received any love letter or confessions from a cute girl.

But he didn't take it to heart. All he had to do was wait then the right person will eventually come his way. Oh yeah right! There was no way that was going to happen. Knowing his luck, he won't be surprised if he remained single for a million years. So there was no way he won't be jealous that a total pervert will became the overpowered protagonist and end up with multiple wives in the future.

He was just a normal human with a special right hand and this pervert was destined for greatness.

Could he accept such a reality?

Absolutely not! That's why he was angry that the pervert was peeping in the girl's locker. Wasn't that being disrespectful to your future wives?

"Nobody will hold me accountable, right? I mean they are definitely in the wrong here. Nobody should be peeping the girls locker room, right? Yes, I'm definitely doing the right thing here."

His words sounded like he was delivering justice but the sadistic smile spread across his lips betrayed him. Kamijou picked a rock the size of the palm and threw it towards the brown-haired protagonist.

The stone crossed the air and slammed into the back of Issei's head with deadly accuracy.

"OUCH!!! What the hell?! Who threw that?!!"

Naturally, Issei reacted just as he expected.

"Hey! Issei, what are you doing!? Are you trying to get us caught?!"

His buddies tried to calm him down but it was already too late. Their location was exposed. When they heard the screams of the girls, they took off without notice.

"Eh?"

By the time Issei realised his buddies were gone, he was already surrounded by the girls of the kendo club who were not happy to see him.

"Hello Issei!"

The person who said those words that sent tremors throughout Issei's body was Murayama. What Issei found more frightening her cold voice was the wooden sword she was holding.

"W-wai-wait! Hold on now, Murayama. This is a huge misunderstanding. I just happened to be passing by."

"Please do come up with a better excuse. We are not kids you know."

This time, it was Katase that responded.

"Issei!" Murayama called again.

"Yes."

"What are perverts?"

"Creeps and the enemy of all women."

"Good and what happens to perverts caught peeping."

"They get beat up."

"Well said."

Shit!! At that instant, Issei realised he had dug into the depths of hell with his own hands. He immediately entered prostration mode.

"I'M SORRY!"

Issei shouted. It was no good though. The savage kendo girls pounced with their shinai.

Ryuji Kamijou watched the scene with a smile. No, he did not take pressure in other people's misfortune. He was smiling at justice being served. Also, the red dragon emperor does not need the word 'breast' on its forehead.

In other words, he was basically doing Ddraig a favour.

The Red Dragon Emperor. The Dragon of Domination.

Turned to Brest Dragon Emperor. If it was him, he would have committed suicide.

(But I must say, those kendo girls are rather sadistic. I understand that peepers should be punished but aren't they going too far?)

Those girls kept pounding on Issei with with their shinai. From all sides and angles without mercy. And there was this sadistic smiles on their faces while they were beating down the pervert.

At this point, he started to feel sorry for the poor boy. Then he thought why did issei and those other two always peep on the kendo girls when they only get beat up in the end? Perhaps they were just as perverted as those sadists.

Either way, this work was done here.

Ryuji left the school yard where Issei kept receiving the harsh love of the kendo girls and headed for the school rooftop. If he couldn't buy lunch, at least he could enjoy the solitude of the rooftop, right?

But as he learnt from past experiences, nothing goes as planned especially for him. When he got to the rooftop, he saw a petite girl sitting on his favourite spot.

"Huh?"

Kamijou titled his head in confusion.

No matter how he looked at her, she gave off the air of a foreigner. White hair, eyes of golden colour. You don't find someone with those features in Japan. Even so, he couldn't help but find her familiar despite meeting her for the first time.

The girl who was busy eating a bag of cookies looked at him. At that point, an awkward silence filled the air.

They both stared at each other without blinking once. Maybe it was because of the awkward atmosphere or her familiar features, Kamijou wasn't able to say anything and just stare at her in silence.

When he finally came to his senses, he decided to speak out.

"H-Hey, that's my spot."

"Occupied."

A simple response. Her voice was low and carried little to no emotion. But the message behind that voice was delivered. "This place is occupied so find somewhere else." That was it.

Basically, she was telling him to get lost.

Hearing that from someone so much younger than himself just rubbed Kamijou the wrong way.

So the two of them just silently stared at each other. Simply put, the awkward atmosphere returned and it was much more awkward.
