Ten Suns Tailed Fox

"Have you thought of something?"

It was one of the shortcomings that had most been bugging Yasaka. When she became a ten-tailed fox it was a miracle that Amaterasu didn't descend to ask questions. Gaining one tail was a remarkable increase in power and affinity with the soul laws, it essentially made her a lower-ranked goddess, but that was it. 

This mutation was something different.

'I can feel so much power rushing into me... just from the light?'

The name of the mutation according to the system was: 'Ten Suns-Tailed Fox'.

It changed her whole being and although she didn't know yet what new powers she had acquired, at the very least she knew one thing... she was hella stronger but also hella noticeable. 

"For someone who has lived that long, you're one careless vixen, Yasaka" Anubis snicked while caressing the slumbering Ray's hair.

"I had no idea that the massage was going to transform my entire being! If I had known I would have laid down a barrier or something!"

"But shouldn't you have been prepared...? Just sleeping with him once turned you into a ten-tailed fox".

"I... can't deny that" she pouted, "What are we going to do? Just the two of us can't defeat the whole pantheon, if it comes to it... I can try and get you some time while you take Ray-sama and flee-"

"What are you saying, you stupid fox? do you think if the situation was that desperate I would be here so carefree taking a bath?" Anubis rolled her eyes and her harsh response made Yasaka shiver.

"Hmph! You have been quite mean for a while now!".

"It's because you haven't thought things thoroughly... who do you think I am? I already set up a barrier... we're inside it and the aura leaking from it is your natural ten-tailed-fox aura... she won't notice a thing until you leave and even when you do I have my means to keep the barrier wrapped around you, she won't know until I desire so".

"... you're quite skilled" Yasaka smiled, one way or another it reassured her... perhaps she didn't trust Anubis completely, but she trusted that Anubis wouldn't do anything to put Ray in a pinch.

"I'm a Goddess with a higher rank than even that Amaterasu. I too have had priestesses in the past, so I know how it works. Stop worrying and thinking nonsense about buying time... do you think Ray will like it if you die?"

"I know he won't but I'm prepared to lay down my life so long as you promise to take care of my daughter... this is my conviction as his pet~"

"No one is ever going to ask you to lay down your life, this is why I hate this world's dramas. Everything always thinks they have to sacrifice their life, but before we even come to that, there are myriad ways. Yasaka, ever since you appeared I had already begun my plans to dethrone that goddess~"

The kitsune sighed and hugged her knees against her body, it was a difficult decision to make. 

"Is there any chance that Amaterasu-sama can live past this?"

"You like her?"

"I have served her for a hundred years... although I love Ray-sama... I wouldn't want to completely stab her in the back".

"So what is an ideal resolution for you?"

Yasaka rubbed her ears and looked at the sleeping Ray, "If maybe... Ray-sama and Amaterasu-sama became allies. That would be the best result".

She thought those two working together could bring the best result for Japan, but it was hard. Too hard, the only possible way she could see two sun gods working together... would be if Ray married Amaterasu but even that seemed impossible, the Shinto Pantheon wouldn't allow their matriarch goddess to marry a foreign god, it was heresy at its finest.

"You know that's impossible," Anubis remarked.

"I know but there may be a way!"

She was madly in love with this new Egyptian God, but she just couldn't put aside the loyalty she had cultivated for a century under Amaterasu. 

'So long as I can make Amaterasu-sama surrender to Ray-sama... surrender her authority, is that even possible?'.

"A person cannot serve two masters, even you who hold the leylines should know that better than anybody".

"..."

"You're in love with Ray so if I have noticed, you should have noticed too" Anubis glared at her sharply, slanting a brief laugh of shame from the Kitsune who pulled Ray away from Anubis' embrace and into her own, it was at this stage that she needed some security and she would always find it in his touch.

"I can't hide anything from you, right?~"

"No, you can't... you're the one that holds the leylines of Kyoto, whoever you worship, that's where the faith will be going. Right now it is an infimal amount, but it is increasing with each passing day. Today more than any other day for obvious reasons".

"I can't control it, Anubis".

It was her duty as the priestess to hold the leylines, more important than anything else. It even disallowed her from ever leaving Japan. Let alone it was also someone that was outside of her control. 

She could love anyone she wanted, but she could only worship one deity, Amaterasu. 

Not doing so was a crime and as matters stood, her worshipping her new master's body was a sin that she could joyfully partake in while forsaking all incoming consequences.

"But I don't regret anything. Obtaining all that faith will assist Ray-sama in his path to Godhood" She declared.

"You're right, that's why I won't tell you to stop, no, I'm actually happy that you're with us, Yasaka~ if it was anyone else, after all, you have done with Ray I would have already massacred you~"

"Could you not say that while smiling, Anubis? it's creepy..."

"Hehe, sorry~"

Her tails all shivered in a goosebump, this goddess could do what she promised.
