Ch5: Training
"So ready for your first lesson?" Olivia asked kaiser which he nodded as an answer "Alright then we can start right away but before that it would be better if I can do a test to see if you have affinity towards certain elements or not."
"if I have an affinity with one element does that mean I can only use that element?" kaiser asked curiously
"That's how it works for devils. I don't know how much you know about devils but they usually are only capable of using one element that they have affinity with, well not all of them. the lower rank devils have such limitations while devils that are from a noble or one of 72 noble houses can use multiple elements. Each clan even has a trait of their special to their clan. For example the house of Bael, that their clans trait is destruction magic. we humans are different and capable of using different elements." Olivia said the last sentence with a bit of pride in her voice.
She then continued "but that doesn't mean we can just use whatever spell we want. The Magic that we humans use is the power born by researching about the Devils' Demonic Power, which also became a power that we humans can control. there exist multiple types of Magic such as Norse Magic, Fairy Magic and various different types of Magic with different equations including the Magic that Gods & their respective pantheons use, it is said that the majority of Magic that is used by the ordinary Magicians are those created by the great Magician; Merlin Ambrosius which involved reading the flow."
"So what's the use of having an affinity for an element then?"
"It means that learning Spells related to that element or controlling mana with that attribute would be easier for you." She then pulled a transparent sphere from a drawer below her desk and put it on the desk "Touch this colourless ball and try to pour your mana into it."
'Thanks to mana sense skill, I can now sense the mana I have and with mana manipulation I can easily control it, so it shouldn't be that hard to pour my mana into that ball, just need to focus and guide my mana into it.' Kaiser then slowly felt a source of energy moving from the area around him and slowly pouring into the sphere
"fascinating, The affinity you have toward the fire attribute is something I have never seen in my whole life. If everything goes well you might even become a phenomenal and one of a kind pyromancer." Olivia said surprised by the quality and aura that Kaiser's mana that was inside the sphere had.
'I guess the Fire manipulation skill that I have had a hand in getting this result' Kaiser thought to himself.
"Since you have a great aptitude for fire, how about we start on spells related to fire?" Olivia suggested she then added on "After learning some basics about fire magic we can then move on to other elements if you want."
kaiser nodded his head in agreement.
"For starters I'll explain how we humans use magic. as I previously said magic that we know was obtained by researching the demonic power, Demonic Power requires the power of using your imagination and the power to create, as well as having a good sense, So it's mostly about your imagination. meanwhile The Magic we use is just knowledge to control equations, In other words it's using your head and making calculations. So while they seem similar, they are very different from each other. do you get it?" Olivia said while looking at Kaiser.
"Devils need to imagine while we need to calculate that's the gist of it right?"
Olivia smiled "Yes, my job is to teach you all those equations and how to calculate and cast them as fast and efficient as possible."
"watch closely and listen carefully to what I say as I demonstrate a simple levitation Spell." She then picked up a small box and put it on the table.
Olivia then pointed her finger to the box "To levitate this box you first need to calculate a few things, first how much the box proximately weighs, how much mana you need to use to lift it and a few minor factors which you eventually will learn. the box is a small one so you can guess it doesn't need a lot of mana to levitate it. by using that knowledge with the equation and magic circles that you need to know about you can easily cast the spell to levitate the box." then with a swirl of her finger a magic circle appeared under the box and made it slowly levitate.
Kaiser's eyes shined brightly as he looked at the Spell Olivia casted "Can I try it?"
"Nope." Said Olivia as she gently patted Kaiser's head "For a few months, even years depending on how much you can learn you must read and learn about magic circles. they are the basis that you must know to cast spells." She then put a few books on the table "we will start with these."
'System is what she's saying true? do I really need to read all of that?'
[For using the same magic that is based on this worlds magic system yes. but if host uses skills that are from otherworlds then there is no need for host learning them. it is advised that go through this training as it would greatly benefit the host.]

'4 years? that's pretty much a long time. if this was the past me without the system and mentality of a kid, it would surely be harder to learn thigs such is calculations and equations. but luckily I had System to change or evolve my mentality? whatever it is it helps greatly to already have solid mind for learning these things. how hard can it be?' Kaiser thought to himself unbeknownst of all work loads he would have in future.

After finishing the first magic class kaiser had ever received, he went to the mansion's training ground as he was instructed by Uther to go there for his classes on swordsmanship.
The training ground was located within secluded grounds of the mansion, ensuring that the training sessions remain undisturbed.
as he reached the training ground, he was faced with the one and only head butler of the Pendragon family, Sebastian.
"Welcome Young master. As per orders of Lord Uther I shall guide and explain matters related to the training ground." He then opened the door to the training ground and they both walked in.
"As you can see, In the center of the field where the imposing stone platform elevated slightly above ground level is, Will be the stage for demonstrations and duels, allowing Lord Uther to showcase his skills to you and young master Arthur."
"Arthur also trains with us?"
"Yes as the future head of Pendragon family, he has to learn all he can from lord Uther before He passes his role to him."
"I see." Kaiser said.
"Next we have The training field that features various practice areas that are strategically placed around its perimeter. These areas are equipped with wooden dummies, targets, and obstacle courses designed to simulate real combat scenarios."
After Sebastian and Kaiser went around the training ground and Sebastian gave brief explanation about them, they reached to the main field. In the middle of field Uther was brandishing his sword against several moving targets.
After he demolished the target he gave a look to the two bystanders. Sebastian bowed to him "I have brought young master Kaiser, My lord."
Uther sighed and walked towards them "You know what, I'm not going to repermind you for how you address me. You can leave now."
"I'll be going then my lord." He then gives a small bow to kaiser "Hope you have a fruitful training young master."
"Thanks Sebastian." Kaiser then looked at Uther "I'm ready for the training we talked about."
Uther Nodded "I see. So how was your magic class? pretty much Boring, right?"
"I have to memorize all those magic circles, which come in different sizes, colours and many other things. so yeah pretty much Boring."
Uther Chuckled "Don't worry, when the time comes it can be quite entertaining. Now before starting our training, there are three things you should never forget, first and foremost know that only people that are ready to be killed are privileged to kill others. so if you are set on going this route know that one day you might be killed as well."
'Well, I did get killed by that psycho so guess I do meet the criteria.' Kaiser thought to himself.
"Second one is that if you are fighting or are up against someone or something, if it doesn't concern the matter of death or life, try to test yourself in these situations and don't overpower your enemy quickly. Use different methods or techniques, learn as much as you can from your opponents to improve even if you benefit little from it. Doing this will not only give you more experience in battles, but also will improve your battle IQ. Don't be afraid of losing, only those that have tasted defeat will know the true value of victory."
"And what's the third rule?"
"Never stop training." He then gave a wooden sword to Kaiser "Now we'll start with Basics. Swing this sword 1000 times."
kaiser gave a blank look to Uther "You're joking right?"
"No I'm serious."
"sigh... Fine."
"Great. after that Run for 5km and do 50 push ups."
"Are you sure you're not planning on killing me?"
"Of course not. the training i choose for you is a light one. after you get accustomed to it I will make it harder."
'Aha so it's going to be harder than this. What a great start. Well I better start now.'
Kaiser then picked the wooden sword with his left hand and began swinging it up and down
"Stop, You're doing it wrong." Uther said calmly, watching Kaiser swing the sword for a few times.
Uther then steps next to Kaiser "pay attention closely. Remember, it all comes down to grip."
He then draws his sword, and then shows Kaiser how to properly grip it with both hands. "As you're still a child and your body hasn't had a significant growth, it is better for you to grip the hilt of the sword with both hands so your swings have more power behind them. When you draw it, always have a firm grip. Never lose it. Now try to strike me With all your might."
As he was told, Kaiser swung the sword without any hesitation towards Uther which he as expected easily avoided.
"Keep on doing it till I say stop." Uther said while dodging another attack from Kaiser.
Kaiser nodded and began swinging repeatedly at Uther all while he dodged every attack with grace and ease.
"Not bad. Alright. Let's try it again, this time with a stance. Now, you'll want to adopt a wide-legged stance, with all your weight and strength focused on your front foot. It might feel unatural at first, but keep practicing. Now, swing with your might again."
After a few swings, Uther kept on giving tips to Kaiser on how to improve his stance and footing.
"...Keep swinging. Don't slow down. Keep the same intensity with your swings, and never give in. Keep learning your steps, and keep watching my movement. by watching the movements of your opponents you gradually will learn the pattern they move. learn that and use it to execute your moves efficiently."

Uther Pov
'This boy, He's the real deal. His talent in swordsmanship is monstrous. I'm just giving him tips and I'm sure he hasn't swung a sword in his life, yet he's getting accustomed to it. with each move he keeps improving. I guess it's run in his blood, James also had immense talent in swordsmanship. what a shame that he didn't delve on it and focused on other matters.'
As I was pondering about Kaiser's talent I felt a sudden shift to his movements. It seems he learnt the pattern that I'm dodging and is swinging in ways that would limit my path.
I smiled as I felt proud at how far he had come just in his first session "Good job Kaiser but remember a person might have a different set of moves which means different patterns."
I then changed my stance and kept on dodging his attacks easily again. soon Kaiser's move became reckless.
'It seems like he's irritated that he can't land a hit on me.' by dodging yet another attack I stopped in my tracks and let Kaiser attack hit me but it didn't. Instead Kaiser was lying on the ground tiredly.
"It's a good thing that you kept your focus on my moves but because of that you couldn't realise how tiring the job you are doing is. Keeping your stamina in check during battles is as important as focusing on your enemy. Get a bit of rest and start the training regime I gave you."
I then began to walk away till I heard Kaiser's voice which stopped me in my tracks "I'm not done yet."
I turned around and saw him slowly getting up, I already was impressed by him during the training session but now he has gone beyond what I expected. even thought he's exhausted he's still standing and challenging me.
I smiled gently at him and with my hand gave him the signal to attack me again. As Kaiser once again swung his wooden sword in my direction, our training session continued.
And just like that, a few years passed.

Yo, how you all doing? Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter.
What are your thoughts about the episode 12 of solo leveling? I honestly was a bit disappointed that it didn't match up with the hype of ep11 but in total they did a good job. Just wish the "Arise" was voiced better, similar to "I Am Atomic" from eminence in the shadow.
