Michaelangelo's work

After bathing with his sister, Mike made a pinky promise with her sister that he would stay with her a whole day. After that, Mike got ready for his daily work. He wore a priest outfit completely covering his body, put on a mask, and went to the teleportation room. He teleported from there and appeared in the Vatican in the same room he first appeared.

'Why don't I have memories of anything that happened before I appeared here?' Mike thinks of that every time he is in this room but was never able to come up with an answer.

Mike exited the room and went to the room of his work in the Vatican. The moment he entered, he was greeted by an old man. "Greetings, Your Eminence Michaelangelo. Is everything good in heaven?"

"Would you please stop that, Gramps? You know I don't like to be called like that, right?" Mike expressed his discomfort towards his Grandpa a.k.a Cardinal Priest Vasco Strada.

Vasco started laughing at Mike's statement. "Hahaha... But you are Cardinal Bishop Michaelangelo Strada, you know? One of the highest-ranking officials of the church and the youngest member to achieve this position."

That is the current standing of Mike. His age was still falsified though. Mike is taller for his age due to training. Since many don't know his looks, the Church covered for him by saying he was shorter for his age but weren't able to increase the age by much. He trained under Vasco and became an exorcist. He only killed the devils which are doing wrong things but the ones he killed are quite powerful. Since his appearance should only be known to high-ranking officials, they just promoted him for Mike's convenience. His 'official' background is that he is an orphan picked up by Vasco Strada. So, he is considered as Vasco's grandson. But the main reason for the promotion is...

"Well, all of it was because I picked up Ascalon. And besides, this was supposed to be your position. They forced me to be a bishop because you refused to be one, remember?"

Mike stated it out as if he is complaining. Vasco kept laughing at him "Well, I am already old. So, I thought a young person would be better for that position. And they would have made you one a long time ago if they knew what you are really capable of. Seriously imagine my surprise when you picked up both Ascalon and Durandal and started swinging them at the same time."

Mike can use any holy sword with ease and the obvious reason for that is...

"Of course, as a human with an abnormal amount of holy power, I am compatible with any holy sword. Well, I don't want others to know the amount of my holy energy. So, I am currently an 'Ascalon-only' wielder. You can keep the Durandal."

By the way, Mike keeps Ascalon in another dimension since he feels that it's a pain to carry that thing everywhere.

"Speaking of Durandal, how is the training of new-found potential wielder going on?"

Mike changed the topic so that Vasco would stop teasing him.

"Oh, you mean the one whom Griselda Quarta is training? She has potential but I think it will at least take another 5 years for her to wield Durandal. She considers you her role model by the way. Well, you are the role model for a lot of children."

Mike showed a sad smile when he heard that. "Role Model huh... I wonder what would be their reaction if they found out that their role model is a faker."

Being the grandson of the Violence of Heaven and the wielder of Ascalon, Mike immediately became popular with his debut as an exorcist. Everyone started talking about how this guy might surpass his grandfather and many started looking up to him. No one knew Mike's real goal.

Vasco is the only church official who knows about Mike's dream to unite the three races. Others think that Mike is merciless towards devils and dedicates himself to God. But the reality is the exact opposite. Mike always checks the case and only if he decided that the devil or the vampire doesn't need mercy, he will take up the job.

"You aren't doing anything wrong, Mike. A lot of my comrades died due to this ongoing war. Someone has to put an end to it." Vasco consoled his grandson.

"Thanks, Gramps. Anyway, are there any special missions that I can do?" Mike said as he rummaged through the exorcism requests.

"None. It's not like you will get special requests every day, right?"

"So, a normal mission this time huh..." Mike was a little disappointed but just at that moment, an emergency letter was delivered to his desk and was told that it was addressed to the church as a whole. Being one of the highest officials, Mike has the authority to open the letter. Mike's eyes became wide after looking at the letter. "Well, this is rare..."

Vasco got curious "Who's the sender?"

"The Great King of devils, Zekram Bael."

"What?!" Vasco was shocked after he heard the name. The Church and the devils have the means to contact each other but it's only done in times of emergency. Vasco got a bad feeling about this.

"Well, this is weird." Mike made the remark after going through the contents of the letter.

"What's in it?" Vasco asked unable to contain himself.

"It seems that in Kuoh town in Japan, a forbidden relationship between the exorcist Masaomi Yaegaki and high-class devil Cleria Belial is ongoing. They want us to kill them to maintain the status quo of heaven and devils. Wow..."

"An exorcist and a devil huh... Well, that is a weird case. And of all the people, you are the one who got hands on it... You are gonna save them, aren't you?"

"Of course. They are in love with each other and they are not doing anything wrong." Mike answered with determined eyes. "But that's not what I think is weird. I think there is more to this case than we think."

"How so?"

"First, if the devils got info on this, why didn't they stop it themselves? I mean, they can just kill them and send us the reason. Or it can be solved in an easier way like transferring Masaomi Yaegaki from Japan to somewhere else or he can just quit or Belial house can restrict Cleria Belial to the underworld. In fact, if I were Zekram Bael, the first thing that I would do is to talk with the Belial house but that prideful Zekram Bael went all the way to send an emergency request to the Church. Oh, come on, if the Great King was this foolish, devils would have been wiped out already after the civil war. So, there is something else going on. So, I will save the love birds by faking their death but I also have to find out why he wants them dead and why the devils can't kill them from their side."

Mike grinned after saying that. Vasco tried to figure out the reason behind the grin and got a bad feeling. Mike started speaking...

"This may finally give me a way to contact the devils and meet their leaders in secret. It's decided. I am going to Kuoh, Gramps."
