A Sister's Heart to Heart I

The two sisters stood one in front of the other in the arena, both sent a glance to Fia and Richter only to see them all cuddly and chummy.

'Mother...' they both sighed in exasperation, Grayfia didn't even feel jealous, knowing exactly how her mother is.

Ignoring the duo, the sister paid attention to each other as their wings flapped, releasing a strong aura.

"You have become way stronger big sister, those aren't devil wings are they? they're so beautiful".

"These are a demon's wings... coated with the illustrious power that belongs to my master, you're right, I have become so strong that even I am awed, Layla. But you're not short either, when I left you were but a little girl... to think that you have become an Ultimate Class Devil with eight wings and even had a child, your big sister is a little envious~"

"You shouldn't be, big sister... I can tell that you found yourself a 'great catch' as well... brother-in-law is a charming man... sadly, his personality is not to my liking" Layla declared fearlessly.

"Oh?"

"I can't grow fond of someone that disregards the life of devils, angels and fallen angels like that" Layla declared only for Grayfia to sigh a little.

"It can't be helped... I can't blame my master. However, why would you include the fallen angels and angels in that sentence, Layla? have you forgotten everything our family went through, how many of ours died in the war to angels and fallen angels?!"

"Things have changed, big sister... during the conquest of Lady Calliope, most of the devils went rampant, perhaps due to their greed or the desire to pay back. They knew no limitations or restraint. Angels, Fallen Angels... mermaids, dwarves, even demigods... we took them all as slaves and brought them to the underworld... where their lives became literal hell".

"There wasn't anyone in the world -except for the ignorant humans- that didn't fear Lady Calliope. Her silhouette stood like that of a giant in front of the devils, allowing them to run rampant. Needless to say, as combative as we are, it didn't take long before two factions formed once again amidst our forces. There were those that believed we had to trample over the other races, there were those that simply wanted to coexist peacefully. That is the Devil Supremacy Faction and the Devil Conservative Faction".

"Who leads those factions?"

"The Devil Supremacy Faction is led by Beelzebub-sama and Asmodeous-sama... while the conservative faction is led by Lucifer-sama and Leviathan-sama... the council is also equally divided. Our strongest supporters are the Lucifuge Clan, Gremory Clan, Sitri Clan and Bael Clan. While the other side has the Agares Clan, Glaysa-Labolas Clan, Astaroth Clan, Vassago Clan, Phenex Clan... admittedly... their side has more families than ours".

"..." Grayfia gave the matter a deep consideration.

"None of us wanted another needless war, after the conquer was finished, Lady Calliope departed without even saying goodbye, she only spoke to mother before leaving... breaking the hearts of most of us who had grown fond of her like a mother... that said, this was never disclosed. For the sake of the devil's advantage... they had to think that Lady Calliope was still on our side and that's what they still believe to this day".

"Then...?"

"A council meeting was held between both factions, seeking to sort out this issue in the most pacific way possible. A decision was made and the rest of the races were to coexist and live normally in the underworld... however, in exchange, the conservative faction, angels and fallen angels were not to hinder the supremacy faction's actions outside of the underworld: in the earth. That was the compromise both parties came to, finally achieving peace. Even then, there is still a considerable amount of racism in the territories belonging to the devil supremacy faction, hence why most of them stay in either the Bael, Lucifuge, Gremory or Sitri Territories"

"It is unbelievable how much the underworld has changed since then..." Grayfia rubbed her forehead, coming to understand how the sightings of the city, the fallen angels and angels. To think so much had taken place in only five hundred years.

"Indeed, it is all thanks to you... right now, the devils are the peak race on the earth and beyond... except for the Dragon Gods in the dimensional gap, everyone fears us so much that they want to keep a stalemate... a fake sense of security as we run rampant; or better said, everyone fears Lady Calliope... her power was so strong that she was said to have fought the apocalypse dragon to a standstill, however... most of us beg to differ. Great Red suffered heinous injuries in that fight while Lady Calliope returned unscathed. Most of us couldn't believe it".

"The reason this underworld is so technologically advanced is also thanks to that treaty... Beelzebub-sama went to the earth, he made himself known to their most powerful politicians and made contracts with them in exchange for the earth's technology... as the devils of the supremacy faction grew more rampant on Earth, our existence couldn't be concealed anymore... right now on Earth the existence of devils is widely spread, they know we exist, they just don't know where we are. There are also terrorists and random factions stopping the devil supremacy's advance... churches usually don't last long. It is a battlefield up there. Just recently one of their most powerful forces became known to us, Khaos Brigade. A group of powerful terrorists formed many factions that oppose the devils. They have temporarily halted our moves."

"Why?" Grayfia didn't get it, why would they go against Calliope?

"Because leading them is the Infinity Dragon God, Ophis... a threat we can't hope to contend against, it is even rumoured that Great Red is with her, seeking revenge over her last battle with Lady Calliope, however... these are merely rumours" Layla sighed, perhaps she wasn't so faced with this rivalry between the Khaos Brigade and the Devils as she made it look.

Grayfia's eyebrows lifted up in surprise, recalling the little girl in the dimensional gap.

"There is a stalemate between us as Ophis also doesn't dare to invade the underworld with Lady Calliope's presence looming around, hence, the devil supremacy factions only have light skirmishes with them and the situation seems to have become more peaceful as time goes by, how ironic... in the earth those people who call themselves bringers of 'Khaos' are being hailed as heroes".
