DxD | Child of Ira

Reincarnation was a treasured dream for many people and I had been lucky enough to receive it. I was granted a wonderful family, plenty of wealth, and the blessing of magic but everything came at a cost. In this case, it was the intrinsic danger of the world where gods roamed freely and myth was merely a forgotten truth. I had been reborn in Highschool DxD. **** If you enjoy my work you can support me on patre*on.com/TrapOverlord for up to 12 chapters ahead.

Chapter 97

Fate was real. It was an unconfirmed facet of life that most people would doubt with every fiber of their being. It went against all free thought and invalidated the path people walked with the mere idea that their life was predetermined.

But that wasn't what fate was. Fate wasn't a true sentient being, it was a balancing act on a universal scale. It took Damian quite a few years to figure it out but he was born because Issei Hyoudou wasn't enough and Hades was acting because now he was too much for their side.

This world was held in balance by the universal force of Fatum, the 'father' of all fate related gods, but it wasn't omniscient. That's why Damian could confidently say that Fatum had failed when it had reincarnated him.

'They're almost here.' Briefly glancing at the dimensional wall that lay in front of him, the dozens of colors pulsating against the wall causing it to shiver as though it was terrified. The wall was about to crumble and there wasn't much he could do about it.

He could supply more energy to it, enhance it, and give it a faulty patch job but it was going to fall and each time he tried to extend it only made the inevitable repair of the wall even more complicated and cumbersome.

Damian had confidence he could do it regardless but the only reason he would even consider stalling longer was to further exhaust them but that felt needless. That's why, when the dimension wall was torn and hordes of enemies passed through, Damian was hardly perturbed.

"Regalzeva right? Where's your older brother? I don't want to play with you so go away." Waving off the mechanical giant with a reaction that could only be called lackluster Damian went as far as shooing the robot man away.

"What is your species?" Ignoring the blatant attempt at taunting Regalzeva turned his five eyes toward Damian. Despite hiding his power and knowing more than he should, the Fierce God couldn't bring himself to care for his opponent's power.

Behind him lay hundreds of thousands of his species' strongest warriors and opposing that force of nature was a single combatant. Not too far away there were two other life signatures but they were insignificant.

"I'm a devil." Replying casually Damian ignored the ominous silence coming from the Evie army in a bid to intimidate him he was sure. Their attempts were ultimately useless but he certainly appreciated their numbers, it would make so many things so much easier.

"And the second strongest of your universe are those lizards correct?" Briefly glancing toward the two dragon gods with only one of his eyes Regalzeva was calm, too calm for Damian's liking. At this point, he was ready to brawl.

"That's right. But don't worry, our world already has a good enough name. We don't need yours." Whispering playfully into the mechanical god's ear Damian casually vaulted over the arm that was swung toward him.

Pink energy spread out from him, a large square formed of enough energy to destroy the world abruptly trapping the two forces. Anticipating an attack a purpleish black cocoon surrounded Regalzeva to protect him from all harm.

But no such attack came. He remained in his sphere of absolute defense for a number of minutes before inevitably canceling it. However, unlike the battlefield he expected to be greeted with it was instead hundreds of thousands of magic attacks that welcomed him.

"Seven hundred forty one thousand, nine hundred and seventy two soldiers. You brought quite the army to my home." Casually speaking to the mechanical being Damian didn't bat an eye as HIS soldiers were slaughtered by the dozen.

To Damian, the number of enemies was meaningless. He personified control, absolute domination filled to the brim with malevolence. There was no way he wouldn't manipulate such a large crowd even if they were the elite.

"You dare use my kin against me?!" Shouting angrily the same purplish back energy emerged from his body like a tsunami, crashing into and slaughtering his kin. Despite his anger, he showed no hesitation in slaughtering his subordinates.

"You dared invade my home so don't discuss morals with me." Striking Regalvaza in the face he was sent flying hundreds of kilometers, his army flying into the air like bowling pins as he was sent on an express trip to the other side of the cube.

The reason Damian had stalled the event for so long was two reasons. For the first, he just wanted to grow accustomed to his new power level. The second was to manipulate Regalvaza into bringing more and more forces.

The Fierce God wasn't stupid enough to spend needless effort in a losing tug of war so he made his subordinates do it for him. Now, as a result of that logical choice, Regalvaza would have to fight Damian and all the subordinates he had brought.

"I bet Ordes would love it here." Chuckling to himself Damian raised his hands into the sky. Pink snow fell from the sky, the descent slow and graceful yet the immense energy within them was horrifying.

Each thing the snow touched froze, time itself frozen as they were stuck living in a single moment of agonizing pain for the rest of their lives. It was a technique that Ordes developed based on his concept of Eternity and it was so powerful that Damian took it for himself.

But it wasn't all powerful. Ignoring the snow entirely, the mechanical body of Regalzeva only had a thin layer of frost covering it. Roaring in a mix of excitement and laughter the Fierce God's fist crashed into Damian's waiting chest with enough power to destroy Earth ten times over.

Ignoring the small blood leaking from his lips Damian grasped the robot's arm and twisted powerfully. Unlike like a humanoid limb, however, it did nothing but allow Regalzeva the chance to release a beam of pure energy into Damian's face.

Pulling his head away at the last second half of his face was badly burned, the skin a horrifying black and flaking off like ash. Ignoring his wounds that would soon heal Damian trapped the Fierce God's arm and rained blows upon the invader.

Tiny pieces of metal and sparks of electricity were the only result of Damian's unending onslaught outwardly but that was perfectly acceptable. Damian wasn't trying to kill the invader, he wanted him as a pet.

"So this is how you controlled my subordinates! Alright! Let's see who can last longer!" Shouting like a madman Regalzeva had no choice in the matter. He was on the back foot and there would be no reinforcements much less any that could help.

But he was confident in his strength as the Fierce God and had no doubts of his endurance as an Evie. He would emerge victorious with yet another conquest beneath his feet as he had time and time again!

"Sure, let's go with that." Almost lazy in his reply Damian jumped away to dodge his opponent's attack. It would take a while for him to win this way but he was confident he had the time. After that, Damian would become the invader.

Depending on his mood, maybe Evie Etoulde wouldn't exist any longer.
