"You… don't know?" Damian asked incredulously, his disbelief written all over his face. It was almost impossible for Ajuka to not know something. Five hundred years. That was how long Ajuka had been researching, learning, and growing and yet he didn't know?
"Not completely at least." Ajuke clarified. "I am aware that it is your clan trait however I do not know the method of how it works. Even I have no idea how such a thing could possibly happen. If I did not see it, I would doubt it even if you were the one to tell me."
Ajuka understood more than, more than any rather, that Damian was an odd being. Information that nobody should be aware of, awareness that somebody of his age should not possess, and the willingness to throw everything away for victory.
Yet at the same time, he knew little. He knew next to nothing about how to create magic artifacts, the correct ways to utilize his astounding control, and the intricacies of devil society, and he was frequently caught unaware by certain things that Ajuka explained to him in the past.
In essence, Damian Thaumiel was like an observer. He knew the world, he knew the future, he knew the past, but he didn't know anything specific. He knew the names of important figures but he had to learn the names and titles of anyone else in his own time.
It was different from being a god, it was closer to being a reader of sorts. His knowledge was not all powerful, it was actually quite limited. However, it was still helpful. Ingvild Leviathan was a girl that even he, the so called Master of Reality, was unaware of yet Damian took her and added her to his strength.
Damian was somebody whose information knew no bounds. If Ajuka asked, he could probably receive the answers to all sorts of questions regarding unknown truths. But the specifics of those truths were things he would need to discover by himself.
He was akin to an unreliable narrator, one who knew everything yet always left something out to be discovered. Ajuka could trust Damian, two years of close inspection ensured that, but that didn't mean he could trust every facet of his knowledge.
"Have you heard of a Dragon Heart? It's also sometimes referred to as a Core or a Reactor of sorts." Ajuka questioned his unofficial student, placing his wandering thoughts at the back of his mind.
"I have. I doubt there is anybody who hasn't heard of them." Damian spoke with a small nod, slightly wincing at the pain. Dragon Hearts, the so called Divine Relic of energy that every being in the world covets.
Following a process similar to a nuclear reactor they infinitely produced energy for the dragon to utilize. It was the source of the Dragon's boundless strength and the reason they were so feared yet respected.
Outrage, the manifestation of their anger that could increase their strength by dozens of times its normal power at the cost of their lifespan. That was what most people knew the formidable Outrage as. Yet why would dragons, beings with infinite lifespans, fear it with such a cost?
It was because their lifespan wasn't the cost. Utilizing the infinite energy of the Dragon Heart beyond their soul's limit, they overworked their soul and in severe cases irreversibly damaged their soul in the process.
The Dragon Heart was a physical thing that infinitely created energy that flowed through the body and into the soul. The powerful bodies of the dragons could endure it yet the soul could not resulting in such a limitation.
The Dragon Heart is the reason dragons all have concepts they follow. Ophis the Infinite, Great Red the Dream, Ddraig the Domination, Albion the Supremacy, and so on. Their lifelong goal was to become one with their concept to allow their Dragon Heart to work at maximum efficiency.
The two Heavenly Dragons were close, a mere step away from becoming one with their chosen concepts, however, they died before they could accomplish it. There were only two beings that accomplished such a feat.
Two Dragons that stood at the pinnacle of the world. It was only natural that the greedy minds of those within the supernatural world would want the foundation of their strength. Many young dragons were slain in a desire for this treasure and many dragons were tortured in the name of science.
Eventually, people began switching their hearts with the Dragon Heart. But, there was a flaw with that. The Dragons could control the flow of energy from their heart, it was something they could instinctually do, but nobody else had that ability.
Filled with infinite energy that neither their body nor soul could handle, those who covet the power of dragons died gruesome and foolish deaths, their ends resembling the end of a mere balloon.
"Currently, your soul is working no differently than a Dragon Heart." Ajuka revealed seriously, deftly taking notice of Damian's surprise. So it wasn't only the Devil of Innovation, the Demonic Prophet also had no clue. Well, that was what Serafall called him at least.
"Seriously?" Damian asked in complete bewilderment. When he heard the name of their clan trait he assumed it was something akin to the Hulk, growing stronger the angrier he was. He did 𝘯𝘰𝘵 expect it to include an ability akin to the Dragon Heart.
"Seriously." Ajuka affirmed with a nod. Damian's reaction was understandable, it was almost impossible to understand. Just as the origin of the Dragon Heart was impossible to understand, so was the origin of the Thaumiel clan trait.
"Hmm. That's going to be an issue." Damian hummed in response, a deep frown on his face and worry in his golden eyes. His match with Riser was broadcast all over the Underworld which meant that it wouldn't be hard for other forces to get it either.
Normally that wouldn't be a bad thing per se but with his clan trait being out in the air it would lead to issues with some people. Most probably wouldn't but people like Ajuka and Azazel or people with a deep understanding of the soul like Hades or Shiva would be an issue.
"I wouldn't worry about it. Unless they were to be there in person like me, nobody would know the exact cause of what happened to you. Even if they did, they wouldn't be able to do anything with me protecting you." Ajuka reassured his nephew with a smile, gently resting a hand on his head.
"That's pretty relieving Uncle. It almost made me forget how many times you've made a fool of yourself." Damian joked lightly, with a sincerely thankful grin on his face. He was probably the only individual that had received the protection of the Satan Beelzebub.
"Don't tease me you brat." Lightly tightening his grip on Damian's head Ajuka's warning was clearly heard.
