Chapter 2

"Sorry about that Damian." Alastor apologized softly, gently patting his extraordinarily tall son on the head. Devils always matured quicker than other races though the method always changed, in his son's case it was his height.

While it wasn't exactly the most helpful growth area for a young devil it wasn't exactly a bad one either. It was odd that his entire body grew so quickly though. Most devil children only have one facet of their body grow quickly, females in particular usually grow in their more pronounced 'assets'.

Eventually, it would even out though, and a devil child would look normal once more. It's a bit of a reminder that they weren't human even though Solomon had been kind enough to help them achieve a humanoid form.

"Shall we get going?" Alastor questioned his dear family with his famed smile, both his loved ones nodding their heads. Snapping his fingers for some flair his demonic energy took material form under their feet, a sakura pink magic circle with their family crest appearing to take them to the venue.

The trip took barely an instant, a mere flash of light blinding them for a moment as they temporarily traveled through the dimensional void to arrive at their location without taking a single step.

The teleportation magic circle was much harder to use than the anime made it seem, in fact, it was one of the hardest widely known magic spells in the world. It required immense demonic energy reserves to hurtle through the dimensional void and arrive at a predetermined location without any complications.

While it took time and effort to learn the spell's formation its true difficulty came from its intense energy requirement. In devil terms, a mid class devil could use it once or twice and a high class devil could use it freely.

Of course, this was forming the spell and not using it. If they were allowed, even an ant could travel with the caster freely. Since it was such a useful spell all members of all races were aware of it although each faction had their own little twist on it to 'optimize' it though no real improvements had been made.

Opening his eyes Damian was greeted with a large mansion large than entire city neighborhoods decorated luxuriously and surely filled with even more on the outside. In total, the price of the home would have been billions in his last life. Of course, magic would cheapen things substantially.

"Shall we go?" Alastor spoke up once the two, specifically Damian, had gathered their bearings once more. They had been here a few times already so they were well accustomed to its splendor and size.

"Mhm." Damian hummed in response as his parents hook arms as they walked through the halls of the mansion. There were numerous kinds of arts and luxuries on the walls, some even dating back over a thousand years ago.

The halls were silent besides the occasional servant darting by, clearly busy with this and that, however, that all changed as soon as the doors to the main hall were opened. Soft music, loud voices, the sound of utensils, and laughter covered the large ballroom.

'I want to go home.' Damian thought to himself, already annoyed by the fake smiles on the people's faces. There were two groups in this room, allies and enemies. Even further, the groups were split between those among the 72 pillars and those among the extra demons.

While it wasn't quite a political battlefield as everyone could hear everything and would use it to their advantage but the tensions were high. And although it was small in scale, it was perfectly represented by the heiress of the Sitri clan Sona Sitri.

She was relatively famous for defeating dozens of possible consorts using her sharp wit and skill in the strategic game of chess, including adults much older than her. It was an intelligent move to stave off any unworthy spouses but it did incur the wrath of many people.

Of course, nothing would happen in the end. Important people may have been angered but the Sitri clan was in a powerful position rivaled only by five others due to their connection to the Serafall Leviathan, one of the Four Great Satans.

The only clans that could possibly harm them would be the Gremory, Astaroth, Glasya-Labolas, Bael, and Phenex clans. The first three were obvious as they all had connections to one of the four satans however the latter two were less obvious at first glance.

The Bael clan had political power rivaling the Four Great Satans and was one of the most powerful forces in devil society and the Phenex clan had a monopoly on the most common yet effective healing item in the world.

In the end though, it didn't matter much. All six were roughly equal in power and as long as their respective strengths were present none could touch each other easily. Tensions may be high but it wouldn't devolve past that anytime soon.

"Go have fun with your peers Damian." Astros suggested, pushing him away from the tense political sphere that the adults would have to deal with. Out of all children present, minus Sona perhaps, he was the most likely to succeed in their 'battlefield' but it wasn't worth anything.

"Mhm." Humming softly in response Damian didn't hesitate to walk away from his parents who were quickly swarmed by devils. In the end, he would prefer to hang around with stuck up kids than stuck up adults.

Then again, Diodora Astaroth was not somebody he liked so perhaps he'll come to regret this quite quickly. However, this was also his chance to meet Rias Gremory, Sona Sitri, Seekvaira Agares, and Sairaorg Bael.

'How different will they be?' Damian absentmindedly thought as he walked toward the congregation of children. As they are children they will surely be incredibly different than their 'canon' counterparts.

There were small things that he could already notice were different. Rias was more excited than in the 'future', Sona had yet to don her signature glasses, and Sairaorg was in the midst of an intense bout of depression after his mother contracted the Sleep Disease.

Seekvaira was an anomaly to him as he didn't truly understand much of her personality to begin with. He only really knew that she liked mechas and that didn't exactly help him build a strong understanding of her.

Well, he would learn soon enough anyway.
