14 Entering a Frenzy

After a few hours of rest, Denise opened the office door to find Giony asleep at his desk.

"Guildmaster sir, it's time for you to wake up."

"Huh? Uh- oh yeah ugh, last night was brutal."

"I thought I asked you not to stay up late, why didn't you listen?"

"And I said that was only if the surge was below D rank but as fate would have it, it was D rank. So I had to finish all my work so I can spend all of today preparing and hiring the appropriate people, buying the needed supplies for a long drawn out battle, etcetera etcetera."

* sigh * "you never learn do you? Fine do what you want but you have a strict bedtime ok? I want you in bed falling asleep by 8 PM sharp. The surge won't fully happen for some time. For now, you only need to do paperwork. You should get some rest, a strong fighter like you needs to be in tip-top shape when the surge finally happens got it?"

Mildly frightened by Denise's tone Giony was startled, it reminded him of both a doting mother and a drill sergeant from the army. His sleep-deprived brain also had somewhat of the blame but Giony was sufficiently scared into having proper amounts of rest.

A few minutes later, Giony walked into the main guild hall to make an announcement.

"As you may be aware a surge is happening soon, it will come in about a week and it appears like it will be D rank in strength. So I am here to issue a D-rank special quest. Over the course of the next week or so, you are to camp out near all major monster hotspots to help cull some of the potentially more dangerous monsters before they become a problem. There are three local dungeons as well as at least five different rapidly expanding monster territories, all of which need to be cleared out by large raid parties on the daily."

"This task can be accepted by any D rank and above who has already successfully been a part of a D rank quest in the past. Sign-ups will last through the day and we will use a temporary augmentation to your guild card to calculate your contribution. If you do well, depending on the situation you can earn all sorts of rewards from gold coins to guild credit which can be spent on guild-associated facilities at a discount, it is even possible you may even rank up. I will also waive quest cancelation fees up to a certain limit for today if the quest is required to be finished before the surge is expected to end. that should be all, return to your normal activities."

Back in the dungeon, nothing happened over the course of the day as the line to sign up for the special quest was quite literally out the door and down the street. It was to the point the local guard had to redirect the line down several alleyways as well as take measures to make sure no problems arose. All this to say no one showed up to The Smoke Keep caves. However, a new message appeared once night fell, after the regular DP gain.

[The Surge has progressed, when the sun next rises, all your monsters will gain a 10% boost to all of their stats as well as an additional 5% boost on the stat they have relied on the most. However all of your monsters will be in a frenzied state which reduces their reasoning as well as their ability to communicate with each other, they will, in turn, receive a higher pain tolerance.]

"Very nifty, this is great information to have. Because of this, all forces are to approach the entrance but not attack unless provoked. However, if you are provoked do whatever it takes to make sure the entire party is either dead or going deeper into the dungeon. All troops have full permission to call for any backup. Of course, there will still be a strict hierarchy based on raw strength but you guys can figure that out yourselves."

[You have crossed the threshold of the amount of DP needed to finish your expansion.

DP: 90]

"Very cool, for now, keep the imprisonment traps offline. I also want to automate replacing monsters as they are killed, and bring back any monsters I've last since I last bought a monster."

[Are you sure you want to summon 15 kobolds and 3 kobold mages for a total of 210 DP? You will not be able to afford it all.]

"No, I don't want to be in the negatives again, just buy 2 kobold mages and five regular kobolds and place them close to the front. Let me know when I can next summon any of the next yet-to-be-replaced troops."

[-90]

[order confirmed,

Remaining monsters yet to be summoned:

10 kobolds

1 kobold mage

An alert will be sent once the most efficient purchase is available.

Current target: kobold (0DP/10DP)]
