Defeating a monster for the first time

As the Eagle soared past the level five Kobold a bright red "-25" flashed over the Kobold's head. Just then a green health bar appeared and it rapidly shrunk down to about two-thirds of its original size and rapidly became yellow. As that happened the level four jumped at it again getting it right in the neck, but this time the damage numbers were bright orange.

After the attack, the health bar of the Mountain Eagle rapidly shrunk. Becoming a deeper shade of orange after which blood started rushing and more damage was dealt. The Monsters Health bar then slowly edged towards a more red-orange hue.

"That can't be entirely a coincidence, did they achieve a critical hit? Better yet where are those reinforcements? But those three are carrying the team, they should be rewarded, maybe I'll give them the monster meat to share with their group as they please."

With the rapidly reducing health, the Eagle was having a harder time staying in the air. After a second, the mage then shot off another flame attack, now at the front of the group as they all turned around to follow the eagle.

Next the level five Kobold started running forward the right side of its face bearing a gnarly wound that seemed to extend its mouth upwards while most of its scally skin was missing. Then it jumped upwards and gave it a good slash into the bird's already open neck wound the damage numbers showed up as bright orange

Digging deep, the sword almost cleared the eagle's head clean off. But by the skin of its teeth, the eagle in a bit of fear, leaned away in the last moment, reducing the force of the swing by just enough to survive, if only for another second. But as fate would have it, the bleeding from its various wounds would do it.

The Eagles health bar rapidly reduced becoming a deep red until it disappeared altogether. The body collapsed to the ground behind the now-landed kobold who was posing with its sword pointing out and downward as if it was putting on a show when it looked back over its left shoulder giving a slight smirk. While the Eagles body was absorbed into the ground as if the ground became a viscous liquid rather than solid stone.

"YEAH HAH! THAT WAS SO COOL! I WANT TO SEE MORE EPIC HIGH-STAKES BATTLES WOO HOO!"

[Monster meat can be used to both rapidly heal and level up any dungeon monsters. Monster/magic crystals on the other hand can be used to improve their stats as well as affect their growth for future level gains as well as potential evolution paths. However while in the dungeon you and your monsters won't need any food or rest so rest assured you won't have to deal with dungeon upkeep.]

"Ahh, that is cool, I think I'll give that first group the entire batch of meat and the level five kobold a magic crystal."

On the viewing panel, a small pile of expertly cut meat appeared which all the kobolds were happy to see instantly a few of the lower-level kobolds brought the level-five kobold some of the meat. which it happily chowed down on. With every bit, its health bar slowly rose until it was full, and the wound mostly healed over leaving a big distinguishing scar across his face. Next, the Kobold found that there was suddenly a magic crystal in its hand the size of a tangerine, knowing it was for itself, it decided to eat the thing in one bite. Instantly it could feel the magic running through its body making it stronger. With that, a system message appeared.

[the process of naming a monster is entirely dependent on both the namer and the named., however, the better the name is, the more power will be gained, and different individuals identify with different things, depending entirely on the monster's own personality. You can grant any monster a name at any time, but if a monster earns the name, an appropriate power boost will be applied]

As those words appeared in front of Smaug his brain was flooded with suggestions any of which he could piece together to create an epic title for the Kobold. After teleporting in front of the about-to-be-named kobold, the surrounding kobolds who were eating to their hearts' content all bowed slightly.

"At ease, I watched your guys' battle, and I just have to say I loved every second, and you have earned a name"

The Scarred kobold looked at his master's eyes with disbelief for a second, but after seeing his smirk, it knew he was dead serious. Then the kobold started jumping up and down in joy, it was getting a name, and all monsters everywhere instinctively dreamed for one, knowing that if they earned a name from a being much more powerful than themselves then they would grow to new heights themselves.

"I have decided to name you Sca'Bla the greatest warrior of the [Smoke Keep caves]."

As Smaug finished his sentence the Kobold was enveloped in bright red light, after a few seconds, the figure stretched and changed, even its sword was growing larger eventually it disappeared and in the place of the old kobold was a slightly taller and more muscular kobold with the same scare but a better sword while also wearing some leather shoulder pads and arm guards
