Disappointed

Orien admired the beauty of the new world. The sky has a red and blue moon. The dark sky is a mixture of blue and purple. The stars shine a lot brighter than the ones on earth. The trees glow green and are twice the size of the average home on earth. The roads are cobblestone and the night is being lit up by some sort of gems placed on the road. It looked like a medieval fantasy world except for everything here is vibrant.

The carriage finally arrived, and the horses caught Orien's eye immediately.

' These things are fucking huge.'

The horses were at least six-foot-six and height and ten feet in length. The carriage was made of gold and other metals and had huge wheels. Orien and four other people approached the door a saw a man who looked like a stereotypical butler. He asked the other about their destination and had finally got to Orien.

" I would like to be dropped off where the dwarfs are."

The driver sized him up before saying, " If you don't mind me asking, what business do you have with the dwarfs?"

Orien looked at what was left of his left arm before the driver apologized and went back to his seat. The group of four sat in the spacious carriage and didn't say a word to each other. Instead, Orien just looked out of the window, admiring the bustling life of the city.

" Excuse me, could you tell me where we are? I'm new here," Orien asked the driver.

" We are Lumen, one of the cities of Pondwell. It's one of the more expensive cities. Otherworlders like you can't live here for too long. That's why I looked at you so funny earlier. The dwarf cities are even more expensive."

Orien's entire mood turned sour. Not only could he not afford to live in this city, but he also couldn't fix his arm situation. Sensing the boy's mood change, the driver attempted to cheer him up, but what he said next would make it worse.

" Your healing ability is highly sought out, you'll be living here in no time."

Recognizing the slip of his tongue, the driver simply acted as if nothing had happened, Orien was curious and afraid.

' This old man is strong.'He had read enough web novels on Earth to know strong people are working odd jobs. That exchange of words really awakened him to the situation he was in.

" You don't have to be wary Mr. I know there are strong people everywhere. Instead of taking me to the dwarfs. Can you take me to where the otherworlders go when they first get here?"

" The names Edward, and of course I'll take you. That's where the other three are going also."

The ride continued on, and they passed by various large buildings. The architecture could be considered European-like. The homes and buildings were Victorian-looking.

' I wonder why all the fantasy worlds always have a Victorian style. I do admit it looks cool.'

They passed the gate of Lumen after a while. The outside of the city was fortified with forty-meter tall stone walls. After leaving Lumen, the road ahead was no longer cobblestone, but dirt. After more than four hours, they reached the neighboring city of Lumen called Elderburgh.

" This city is a lot more dangerous as there are more portals and towers. This is also a place full of opportunity," he said while glancing at Orien.

" It isn't as luxurious as Lumen, but it's still a great place to live. With the starting money you all received, you should at least be able to rent a ' decent ' one-bedroom home. You can stay at an inn or apartment for cheaper. I suggest you buy a map."

The carriage stopped in front of the city's gate. The stone walls here were ten meters and uncared for. Edward left the carriage, approached the two men guarding the walls, and showed them a badge, which the officer checked. After a few minutes had passed, Edward came back to the carriage and said, " This is your stop. I wish you well on your journey."

As Orien walked toward the door, Edward whispered, "The Horde guild wants a healer. When you get there, show the lady at the desk this."

He gave Orien a golden pendant. It was two swords crossed on each other with a sapphire blue gem on the hilt.

" Why are you doing this for me? I'm a stranger," Orien said with a light voice.

" Your eyes told me everything I needed to know. Use that power of yours and make a name for yourself. Your future is bright. "

" Thanks, Mr. Edward." Orien began to walk off the carriage and headed toward the gate when he heard Edward's voice yell, " See you later son-in-law."

" Eh?"
