My hands brushed against the engravings on the floor, opening my eyes I blankly looked ahead. A light tap is all it would need to crumble into fine dust, but also leave an obvious trail. That would alert the ones living underneath. Sighing under my breath, I turned away and levitated out.
I could've let my curiosity win and taken a peek inside. That, however, would bring unneeded complications in my life. Though keeping tabs on these folks is now a necessity. An entire family living underground cannot be a good sign, especially for nobles. They're definitely up to no good.
I followed them after noticing their bizarre condition. The worm inside their spines was significantly larger. Not to mention, the golden glow coming from their souls.
I was tempted to kill them all and be done with it, but actions done recklessly always bring disasters, hence I'll observe them and find out everything I can.
Using the telekinetic powers to fly up the clouds, I looked down to see the entire kingdom.
Huge walls thicker than buildings of the modern world, enclosed the entire place, the people had long gone to sleep and a few thugs were drinking or messing around as one would expect them to.
A peaceful place.
A smile crept up my face as I gazed at everything around me.
I like it.
There was nothing here to be a potential hazard to the whole of mankind. The worm inside us was a bit concerning, but it's probably not that important.
Since old people have this as well, it's not something new. It has no reason to act up 'now'.
Shaking my head, I flew past the houses at a high speed and reached the house. Mom and dad were both asleep. Though my clone was wide awake with that horrendous nipple in his mouth.
'You don't even need sustenance!' I screamed internally so as to not wake the others up, slowly climbing up I dispelled my clone and tugged myself under my mother's warm embrace.
...
Eight years passed by in a flash, I was now an energetic kid running around while the other kids my age were still struggling on their feet.
'Heh...weak kids. I could challenge you all to a bench press competition and win.'
And no one could point their fingers at me, since I am technically still a kid too.
The door creaked open and mom came out to see me up the roof. "Ereeeen, come have your food. And didn't we already talk about your appropriate age for walking on roofs? "
......."I do not recall agreeing to your suggestions." I replied in a meek tone."Did you say something?" My mother Carla asked me with a scary smile you would see in drama shows...."no."....it was effective.
"Finish your food and make yourself presentable, your father is going to introduce you to someone your age."
"No thanks, I'm good. I like spending time with mom!" I replied in the most polite tone I could muster to increase my chances of persuasion, yet it was all in vain.
I looked at the grass plains on the side of the road with dead eyes. My father Grisha Yeager, an upright man smiled at my torment as if enjoying the scene of me being in hell.
"Cheer up eren. I'm sure you'll like the Ackermans once you see them up close. I heard they also have a daughter your age, you can be friends with her."He consoled me in his own fatherly ways.
"I'm satisfied with Armin, I don't need another friend, also I refuse to play dolls at this age!" I spoke out with determination.
Dad seemed to have up after that as he simply showed me around as the carriage slowly kept moving.
At some point, I began to zone him out.
I honestly didn't need friends. But being a loner is also quite depressing. Hence, a few years ago, I decided to befriend the brightest kid I could see.
A blonde kid with his head always buried in books, I saw him being bullied by a group of kids and helped him out.
He was shocked by my display of strength, but I just waved it off, saying I'm built different.
Since then, I've been hanging out with him talking about everything we could think of.
The news of titans living outside the walls was a real shock to me. I was a bit peeved to know that I was the only one who didn't know this yet, but I couldn't blame my parents for it, since I never bothered to ask about the walls unlike the rest of the kids.
I wanted to see them up close but eventually decided to forget about them. No use provoking something, the people inside the walls are already taking care of.
Besides, the walls aren't breaking anytime soon, so we are completely safe!
Urg.
A small fluctuation occurred in the space around us and I felt my dad's behavior change ever so slightly.
"We're here eren." He wasn't even facing me for some reason, as if he's seen a ghost.
Well, that can't be good. Feels like a tragic backstory for a huge drama you see in those Korean dramas. I hope it is since that is something I can easily handle compared to some unexpected shitstorm.
He knocked at the door with a straight face, unlike his usual cheerful mood. The empty face soon put on the mask of a professional doctor, as the door opened to reveal a couple with their sole daughter.
".....Hello. My name's mikasa...Mikasa Ackerman.
