Liz

Chapter 2: Liz

When Gigi opened the front door of her house, she confirmed once again that inside of it nothing had changed either. The same white walls were there along with the same photographs of her hanging on them, she felt free. The chandeliers above of her lighted the whole place and the luxurious furniture was almost perfectly settled.

Without waiting, she almost ran upstairs to where her old room was located. Obviously, that room hadn't changed at all.

Her room used to be her favorite place in the world. She did not care about the horrible pink walls that she had picked when she was seven or about the photos that reminded her of people that she would rather forget, she felt happy there. Her bed was undone, her books beside it weren't in order and her wardrobe seemed to be not that well closed, so Gigi immediately noticed that her mom had decided to leave everything as Gigi left it the morning she travelled to Los Angeles.

The normal thing would be that Gigi did not miss anything about her past, because at the end of the day, Illinois was not really an open-minded place and she suffered a lot when she lived there, but don't get her wrong, spending a couple of days at her old hometown was fine by her and truly felt like home, yet her real home was in Los Angeles now.

However, as Gigi expected, her mom did not waste any time (Gigi was sure she had been waiting to clean that place since the moment she left) and started tidying up everything around her. She found it cute that she had waited for her to come home to finally clean that place up. She could picture her mom opening her door every time she missed her just to feel like she was still around.

Gigi and her mom had always been very close. Every time Gigi had a problem, her mom was the first person she would call. People sometimes got confused and thought the two of them were actually sisters. They had the same blonde hair, deep blue eyes, long thin legs and that charming smile. Gigi trusted her mom with her whole life. Sarah had this philosophy in which she thought it was better for her kids to trust her rather to fear her and it worked fine with Gigi.

"Do you have any plans for today?" Sarah interrupted Gigi's thoughts with her soft voice while she was organizing her daughter's clothes on the wardrobe. Gigi did not understand the question at first. Of course she did not have plans. "We did not want to bother you until you were here but the truth is that your father and I have a party today and we cannot miss it. If you don't want to go it's fine though. No pressure."

Gigi thought about it for a few seconds. She couldn't believe how her parents did not even think about spending her first day back home with her after three years. However, she agreed to her mom's proposal, she was too exhausted to even come up with something negative and went straight to take a shower instead.

When she finished that really needed relaxing shower, she laid in bed with the towel still wrapped around her body, she did not even have the strength to put some clothes on which was rare for a person who lived for clothes.

When she was about to close her eyes and finally give in to Morfeo, she saw her photos with Liz hanging on the wall.

Elizabeth Monrae, or Liz, had been Gigi's best friend since they were babies. Not to generalize, but everyone has that person that changed their lives forever and Gigi was sure, even if she was too young to make a statement like that, that Liz was her person. Everybody, including them, thought they were going to be best friends forever but things are not always how we plan them.

Gigi could not remember the first time she saw Liz. Her mother and Liz's became best friends when they were really young and, after finishing college, they had the great idea of moving to the same place to start fresh new life there. Gigi had no idea of why they chose Illinois.

A couple of years after they moved, Joan had Liz and some months later Sarah had Gigi and the rest is history.

Elizabeth and Gigi had always held a magnetic and pure relationship. Gigi would help Liz when she needed help with her art craft (something that made Gigi's hands dirty, a thing she hated) and Liz would play Barbies with Gigi. Liz helped Gigi when she fell from her bike when she was learning and Gigi taught Liz how to tie her shoes for the first time.

They went through almost all of their 'first times' together. Their first day of school (they held hands the entire day because they were scared), their first dates (they went on a double date at where they excused themselves to the bathroom and escaped through a window), their first kiss (they both thought it was better to have it with each other instead of kissing some unexperienced boy), the night they finally came to out of the closet for the first time (they were at Gigi's room one cold night and they laughed for hours), the first time they held hands with someone in a romantic way (they were at the cinema watching a horror film) and the list went on and on.

Still, Gigi did not allow herself to think about Liz or everything that went down between them. She was really happy with how her life had turned out after Liz. She enjoyed living in Los Angeles, partying with her best friends Madison and Emma and kissing strangers to fill her enormous void, watching sunsets with her roommate Bella and many other things only LA was able to provide her.

"Gigi, we're leaving in an hour!" Her mom called out from downstairs and the blonde had no remedy but to get ready.

It could be said that Gigi was a control freak. She liked to be in control of what people around her thought of her and that's why she wanted to make sure to be always well dressed. As her image did matter to her at the end of the day, she decided to wear a beautiful pair of white pants and a matching white blazer with the highest heels she could find. She was already taller than other girls but feeling even taller made her seem more powerful.

She did not even had time to put more perfume on or to paint her lips even more when her mom told her to get downstairs once again. Yes she was going to go with them to that party, but they will have to deal with her bad mood because of it.

Her parents, as she had imagined, were dressed as two cake dolls. Her dad was always giving the impression that he was more important that he really was using expensive suits and her mom was flawless without even trying and was wearing a red long dress that nearly covered her chest. For a second, Gigi did not know if they were going to a simple meeting or to the Prince of Wellington's wedding.

Once she hopped on her dad's car, she decided to listen to some music with her earphones since her anger could be felt from miles away and she felt like that would make her feel better. A meeting was as important to her parents as their own daughter returning home after years? She couldn't believe it. She did not even look at the window as she always did when she was in a car, she strictly looked at her foot with an angry face like a five-year-old hoping that her parents would notice and say something about it. As she was expecting, no one said a thing. In fact, no one said a word during the whole time they were on that car.

Even if she wanted to remain in character for a long time, when five minutes passed by, she decided to look at the window for a bit. Gigi's heart suddenly stopped when she saw where her father was about to park at. Right in front of Liz's house. That had to be a joke.
