Waking Up Hungry

A thousand questions raced through his mind as Teemo grabbed a bunch of healing Elemental Crystals and placed them on the desk beside the bed.

Matt then placed the resting Dragoon on the large fluffy bed and the two tried their best to heal Layla's gap wound.

"I'm so sorry…" whispered the Loplin as he gently gave a kiss on the sleeping girl's forehead.

"This should be potent enough, it was made with Dragoons in mind so it won't conflict with her body or blood… I didn't strike her Elemental Core, right?" asked Teemo as he produced a green Elemental Crystal.

The Healing Crystals were all generally green and looked like a broken glass shard. However, the particular one he picked out had a ribbon of blue Elemental Energy, surrounding the shard.

"Is it made out of Dragoons?" asked Matt, without looking at the Felidae.

"Does it count if they are already dead?"

The Loplin glared at the cat with armor, his emerald eyes piercing through the cat's skull.

"I'll take that as a yes but I have no choice but to use it on her. I don't know her enough to have another substitute. So it's either that or…"

"Give me the damned shard and shut up. You've done enough…" spat Matt as he turned to snatch the shard away from Teemo.

The armor-wearing cat seemed displeased when he tried to open his mouth to protest but as he glanced at the Loplin's expression, Teemo bit his tongue. He then sighed and continued packing the other Crystals.

"We've known each other for 6 years, and I have never seen you this upset over a girl before… Do you owe her something? Or did she save your life?" quizzed Teemo.

"Why do you care?"

"Hey, I know it's my fault in that fight back there for not holding back but at least have the maturity to answer my questions like a grown rabbit, not a spoiled bunny."

Matt sighed as he shattered the green shard over the wound, allowing the dust to cover the Dragoon. Her expression seemed to go from stressed to relaxed so the Loplin released the breath he held for the past Tock.

"She's different… I don't wish for her to die or get hurt. Listen, I've no clue what's going on with me either so let's just leave it at that."

"And for your information, I'm acting this way because you deliberately ignored my warning. Earlier today she witnessed the board in the streets and was already upset… She ain't in the best mood…"

"It's your fault for not putting the shield up!"

"Oi, don't blame me for the mess you made. You said you wanted to test her, and I allowed it. But I didn't say anything about outright killing her!" shouted Matt as he squeezed the resting Dragoon hand.

"Ow…" grumbled the groggy girl as she slowly began to wake up.

"Like I said, I thought the girl could handle it! I never expected my simplest move could outright kill her!"

As Matt wanted to shout back, the Dragoon sprang up, her face filled with anger and tiredness, much to the surprise of the two males.

"If I'm not dead because of his blade, then I will definitely lose my hand if you keep crushing it! Let it go!" yelled the angry Dragoon.

"Sorry," replied Matt, letting go of the girl's hand instantly.

"Well, at least we know the Crystal works on you…"

"Of course it does, it reeks of Dragoon Wing dust after all. But that's at least a good thing since it did refill my Elemental Energy levels. Although, are you an ingredient picker by any chance"

"Because as far as I'm aware, you usually shouldn't have that one ingredient..." asked Layla.

"Me? Well, I guess you can say that… Why?" questioned Teemo, seemingly intrigued that she would ask such a specific question.

"If you happened to have some cut Dragoon tails, I'm down for some. I'm starving," answered Layla as she hopped out of bed and stretched her arms.

The Loplin went pale as he heard Layla's request. As he looked at Teemo, the cat merely shrugged and went out of the room to presumably find the tails.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Be glad I haven't asked him for crispy bunny ears…" asked the Dragoon.

"What?!"

"Oh, have you not known what Dragoons eat? We are cannibals by nature. We can eat normal foods but since I got badly injured, I need to eat my kind's flesh to be completely healed."

"And I love fresh tails. I'm okay with 'em salted or baked but I'd rather have it uncooked since they've got a tangy taste I so love… You should try some, I can share with a little bunny..."
