DreamHard - Welcome to the World of Dreams

In a world where wars are endless, an insane genius created a game with the fate of the whole world on the line. Joshua, a hardcore game junkie, accepted the challenge in order to clear the game. However, the game itself isn't as simple as it seems.

In WEXO, leveling up is a privilege, not a necessity.

Leveling will increase all your stats by 1 and it will also increase the maximum number of skills that can be learned. In short, leveling up has many benefits.

Choosing not to level up, on the other hand, gives you the ability to quickly increase your level at a time of your choosing. The advantage of this is the bonus experience when killing monsters above your level.

Most players choose to level up quickly, while others do not. Of the hundreds of millions of players in WEXO, only a small percentage of them would not level up quickly. Approximately less than 1% of them.

Those players maximize the use of the miscellaneous increase in stat.

Every time a battle ended, or a training finished, stats increase. After leveling up, the effect of all your actions will be reflected in your stats, doubling your efforts. In other words, the longer you stay at your level, the higher the stat bonus you get.

Those who realized this kept quiet about it.

Those who didn't were still happily improving their characters slowly. Using all their experience in leveling up.

However, this method is not all ups and no downs.

If a player died, all his experience earned will be turned to 0. In other words, if you die, your EXP drops to zero, wasting all those you piled up.

The extra stat at each level-up is only the effect of the player's action between death (or creation) up to his level-up. After death, all his piled-up experience and stat bonuses will be wasted too. They would need to accumulate the stat bonuses from zero once again.

It is a double-edged sword. And of that 1%, only 1% are brave enough to continuously stack their experience endlessly.

This information is not posted on any boards or the main site of the game. It is the result of researching endlessly about the game.

And the one who researched this is Joshua's (Zeus's) favorite blogger.

"Stranger, you came back."

After 2 and a half hours of hunting and walking, the pair of Zeus and Faye went to the old maid again.

"I brought some leather. I hope this is enough."

- - -

- Gave Moon Rabbit's Leather x41

- Gave Wolve's Pelt x4

- - -

"Ooh! What an amazing amount! I'll work on it immediately. What kind of cloth do you want as a reward? With this many materials, I could create a lot."

"Only a shirt, new pants, and a boot."

In WEXO, some quest rewards are fixed but most of them are negotiable. The old maid's quest is a negotiable one that gives you the freedom to choose what sort of leather product you want as a reward. The more leather you give, the more rewards you can get.

"Hmm… The boots are a little… if you could give me some hard material to be used, I could add it."

"Then how about this?"

- - -

- Gave Treant's Bark x5

- - -

"This much is enough. I'll be working now so please wait for about an hour."

"That's quite fast," Zeus commented offhandedly.

"Ohoho. Even if I seem like this, I was once the best Seamstress around here. This much is a piece of cake."

"Then, please do."

"Wait expectantly."

After finishing their conversation, the old maid went inside her house. The old maid's quest will use roughly 10 - 15 minutes per item. However, if there are a lot of players claiming rewards, the queue would take a few hours at least.

Zeus remembered and asked Faye once more.

"Are you sure you don't want this quest?"

Faye shook her head slowly while sighing.

"Priest's clothes are made of high-quality silk. I don't have that much money for the material yet."

Priests, unlike other classes, could only equip silk-based equipment. That's why the priest class had the lowest defense in all classes available in WEXO. What's more, the price of their equipment was more than 10 times that of other classes. Magicians, similarly a lightweight armor class, could still equip a wide range of equipment compared to priests. Which means they could also equip leather armor.

"You really like that type of job, don't you? Jobs that required astronomical amount of money…"

"Say what you want."

Exasperated, Faye turned her head to the side and ignored Zeus. After they finished their short exchange, they headed towards the market once more. It was time to sell their loot. The two of them separated ways for a while because they have to sell different types of loot, which they already discussed beforehand.

"Ohh, lad! You came back quite quickly!"

The shop owner where Zeus bought earlier shouted heartily.

"Thanks to your equipment, I managed to hunt quite efficiently."

Zeus said, tapping the sword by his waist.

"That's good to hear. So, what's the deal?"

"Do you know where I can sell this?"

After saying this, he showed the whip to the owner.

"This is a Treant's whip… If you like, I could buy it for you. Costs 30,000 D."

Zeus was surprised inwardly. 30,000 Darks! That's enough to buy him a full set of beginner equipment twice over. However, given this rare chance, Zeus thought that maybe he can still raise the price a bit. Gulping down his saliva, he started haggling.

"Hmmm… Is that so… I heard that this is a rare item, isn't the price a little low?"

"It may be rare but it is only for low levels. But since it has quite a good line of bonuses, and I quite like your attitude, I can increase it to 40,000D."

"Then please." Zeus immediately agreed, knowing that the owner already gave him the best price he could offer. a 10,000 D increase from haggling is more than enough.

- - -

- Sold Treant's whip for 40,000 D

- Due to the success in negotiation, Wisdom and Intelligence increased by 1.

- - -

"There you go. Anything else?"

"How about these? Can you buy it too?"

After selling the only weapon drop, he tried selling the miscellaneous items. Aloha Fruit, Treant's Bark, Wolf's Pelt, Wolf's Fang, Silver Wolf's Fang, Moon Rabbit's Leather, and Wild Boar's Tusk.

"Woah! This many items in such a short time. The quality's good too. I'll buy all of these for 50,000 D. How's that?"

The shop owner gave his estimate. Zero, who knows the basic prices of goods was already satisfied with the quote but still wanted to haggle a bit. A few more gold wouldn't hurt.

"Does that include the Silver Wolf's Fang? I thought Silver Wolves are rare…"

"Then, 60,000D, that's my limit."

"Hmmm… Okay then." Zeus thought if the owner only adds 10,000 for every time someone haggles his prices but decided to ignore it for now.

"You can be a really good merchant… Hahaha."

- - -

- Sold Aloha Fruit x 20 for 1,000 D

- Sold Treant's Bark x13 for 1,300 D

- Sold Wolf's Pelt x11 for 5,500 D

- Sold Wolf's Fang x48 for 12,000 D

- Sold Silver Wolf's Fang x8 for 40,000 D

- Sold Moon Rabbit's Leather x10 for 100 D

- Sold Wild Boar's Tusk x5 for 100 D

- Successfully sold items above market price. Wisdom and intelligence increased by 1.

- A new stat has been added, Persuasion, with a total of 1 point.

- - -

After seeing the gold amount increase instantly, Zeus was pleased.

"Last… I want to buy this."

He pointed to the Iron Sword +5 hanging on the wall. At a glance, it is the strongest sword in the shop.

"Ohh, now aiming high already huh lad? Okay, as promised, I'll give it to you for 2,500D."

With the 50% off for beginners, he only spent 1,250 D to purchase the sword. The sword was the same as his previous one, only the attack value was increased from +10 to +20.

"With this, I'm all set."

Having finished his business, he immediately walked towards the old maid's house. There, she was already in her rocking chair, waiting.

When Zeus approached her, she immediately stood and brought a package wrapped in paper.

"Ohh, stranger, you came again. These are the items you requested. I hope this will help you out there."

- - -

- Received Leather Tunic +3.

- Received Leather Pants +4.

- Received Leather Boots +3.

- - -

"Thank you very much. I didn't expect it to be this good."

Its appearance was good despite using low-level materials. There is also unity with the used colors, far from the plain color of normal leather products.

"My pleasure." The old maid said with a soft smile.

Unable to wait anymore, Zeus checked the items' stats.

"Item Information!"

Seeing his current stats, he was already more than twice as powerful as before. After a while, Zeus decided to continue swinging his sword at the front gate, the designated meeting place with Faye. As he was swinging, he was thinking of ways to speed up their already monstrous hunting speed.

'If I was purely hunting, I could focus on the battle. However, once the loots of monsters piled up, my speed will drop.'

Yes. The reason they came back was that their packs were more than full already. Even if the pack reduces the weight to a quarter of the true weight, hundreds of materials would still weigh too much to ignore.

If they have someone to carry their loot, they could hunt more easily and efficiently.

'Maybe we should hire a transporter.'

Considering this topic seriously, Zeus continued swinging his sword mindlessly.

"AAAAHHH!!!"

Then, a scream was suddenly heard. It was a woman's voice. All of the nearby players and NPCs heard the voice clearly.

"H-HELP ME!!!"

While the others were wondering what to do, Zeus had already started running toward the source.

The voice came from within the deep part of the forest. These parts are of the highest level, reaching over level 12. They were monsters like Poison Ivy, Mandrake, Trapper Plant, and Venus Flytraps.

After reaching the location, what Zeus saw was a disaster.

"What happened?!"

It seemed to be a hunting party. There are about 5 members visible, 2 of them were lying on the ground. The one nearest, the one carrying a large backpack, spoke quickly.

"P-Please help us! This monster attacked us! We're just a bunch of level 10's! Two of our NPC party members had died already! Please!"

Level 10. Level-wise, they should be able to handle the monsters here. However, what they were fighting was in a different league.

It was large. About 3 meters high. It has a sturdy-looking body similar to a dinosaur. A Tyrant. A boss-level monster that is said to be the king of the forest.

"Leave it to me."

What others felt when he spoke was a sense of relief. They thought that there were still good guys out there.

However, Zeus was thinking on a completely different track.

'If I defeat this boss alone, all the drops will be mine!'

The greed of a gamer. Not only did he not see the danger, but he was already counting his rewards before even fighting it.

"T-Thank you! By the way, what level are you?"

"Level 2."

"""…"""

As he told them his level, despair quickly befall their faces. There's no way he can survive. Those fighting on the front were thinking along this line.

However, as he spoke, he dashed toward the Tyrant, kicking off the ground.

It was a simple dash for Zeus but due to his high agility and strength, he seemed to have teleported in front of the Tyrant.

"Haaah!"

Using his momentum as a boost, he slashed the monster upwards. Damage of -56 appeared on his game log.

"GGGUUUUUUUAUAAAAAAAHHHH!!"

The tyrant cried in pain as it received its very first wound.

"W-What the?!"

The man tanking the Tyrant was surprised. His damage output was on a different level compared to the two fighters combined.

Having injured the monster gravely, he became the focus of its attention, completely drawing its aggro. He moved slightly away from the group.

"Quickly run! Ah, if you see a priest standing near the gate, please tell her that Zeus is right here."

As he dodged the attacks of the Tyrant, he spoke with the three. They were dumbfounded. A monster that almost wiped out a party of 5 level 10 is being played around by a Level 2.

The group quickly regained their bearings and ran away. They were thinking of calling backup for him and not only the priest that he said. Then, after a moment, they disappeared.

"That's good… Now…"

Now that there was no one else in the area, Zeus's eyes became serious.

"Haah!"

A swift strike! The Tyrant tried to dodge but it was too fast. The monster received another large wound.

-102!

A critical hit!

Damage-wise, the vanguard earlier has more than twice Zeus's. However, applying his speed and basic swordsmanship, also attacking the monster's weaknesses, he boosted his damage output.

The Tyrant tried to gain distance, however, Zeus was faster.

"What's wrong? Are you afraid, oh King of the Forest?"

As he fought, he continuously taunted the monster. Whether it understood his words or not, it raised a loud roar and countered.

It was a claw attack that slashed horizontally.

Zeus read the trajectory and the range and dodged it by a hair's breadth. The impact still hit him and his health dropped by 20.

"Hahahaha! Looks like you still had some juice left! Let's party shall we!!!"

Then, the speed of Zeus's attacks increased.

The Tyrant couldn't avoid even one of the strikes. And slowly, it backed away.

As seconds passed, the Tyrant's movements slowed down. The reason is clear. All the joints, tendons, and muscles were damaged by the strikes. The monster's body was riddled with wounds.

"This is the end!!!"

And, at last, Zeus jumped high. Forming an arc, he swung his sword vertically. He used the spinning force to increase the damage. Then, Bang! He landed a hit on the Tyrant's head.

The monster slowly fell down. Then, at Zeus's system window, confirmations flooded.

Zeus' first active skill! One of the semi-rare skills that can only be gained by fighting boss class monsters!

"Looks like my luck really pays off now…"

After confirming everything, he walked out of the forest, leaving the large corpse in the middle of the forest path.

As soon as he got out of the forest, a large group of around 20 members was about to enter. They looked quite tense and their equipment looks quite promising. Probably on higher levels.

"Everyone! Are you ready?!"

"""OOOOHHHH!!!"""

And, after a roar, they entered. Zeus just ignored them and walked straight.

After they vanished into the forest's shadows, Faye approached Zeus.

"You said to meet at the gate remember?"

"Sorry. Something urgent came up."

"Well… I basically just arrived too so I'm not the one to lecture… So? What happened to the monster?"

Zeus grinned heartily.

"Hehe. I killed it."

"And the spoils?"

"Some raw materials, a cloak, and a ring."

Faye frowned, her eyes narrowing into slits. Her aura suddenly turned colder.

"… Why do I feel betrayed…? I wonder…"

"W-We'll split the proceeds on the materials! 50-50, how's that?"

"Hmmm…"

"60-40?"

"…"

"GAH!!! Okay! 75-25! As usual!"

"That's more like it."

Faye smiled and nodded. The cold aura dissipated like an illusion. Zeus wiped the sweat off his forehead.

Zeus Lost ¾ of the materials. While lamenting his loss, he asked Faye a question.

"… So, by the way, how much money do you have now?"

"Hmm… Selling the loots and finishing a quest… around 500,000D."

Guh! The advantage of support class!

Not only do they receive special treatment among the party, they even receive greater rewards on quests. However, in exchange, they will have a very hard time hunting alone.

"500… I wouldn't ask how you got that but now, we may have enough money already… Let's buy that…"

After pondering his choices, Zeus promptly decided to buy "that".

"… Isn't it a little too early?"

Faye asked, slightly worried.

"The earlier the better."

"… Okay…"

Then, before the two went out, they changed location and went straight to the town. They are heading to the place to acquire their partners for a long time.
