Chapter 24: Wondering Where Julietta Is

“Yes Emile, I am about to go home now because I’ve finished up with my homework long ago,” Elliot responded. “Have you seen Julietta already?” he asked.

“No, but have you?” Emile asked in concern.

“She was here and we did homework together a while ago,” Elliot replied. He had waited in the forest after Julietta and her companion left so that he could talk to Emile about them. “When I was done, I went to explore the forest a little bit,” he added.

“So then, didn’t you see her again?” Emile asked in surprise. “And why were you not afraid to go into the forest today?” he asked with a serious expression on his face. Elliot wondered whether Emile was perhaps concerned about being seen talking to the witch-like lady.

“It was still light outside and I have a flashlight on me for in the event that it grew dark,” Elliot explained with a smile. He hoped that Emile would not suspect him of spying on him.

“And you were there all along?” Emile asked.
