It was in a room of a famous research center.

The sound of a heart beating was very relaxing. While hearing his own heart beating, Arthur again lost himself in deep thoughts.
Arthur Sigeel, the name of one of the greatest geniuses in history. The entire world recognized him like this. The greatest researcher, the researcher of miracles, and much more titles was given to him doe his incredible achievements which he made one after another.
Cure of cancer? he found it
Recover severed limbs? he found how to.
Solve the global warming problem? he got it.
Virtual reality? he created it.
And all of this was achieved before the age of 27!
He was undeniably the number one person in the modern Era.
But even with all this past achievements Arthur wasn't satisfied. At this moment he was profoundly flowing his eyebrows while struggling with things that's way to advanced to any other human being understand for itself.
"What is wrong with my head? Why I can't discover how the consciousness is formed even after 3 years of heavy research!"
Words that would scary any person came out Arthur's mouth.
Consciousness!
The thing every single living being have. It is the key part of what we know of life, and it is not wrong to say that consciousness is life itself!
Arthur has been researching the mystery behind consciousness since when he was 27, when he opened this research center. But yet he didn't get any close to what he is looking for.
He can connect the consciousness to virtual reality? yes he can, but yet he don't know how it works exactly.
He have full domain of the humans brain, but he still can't find the consciousness as if it didn't existed!
"I see..."
Arthur suddenly had an epiphany.
As if the veil that was covering the truth was removed.
"The soul... is it something we can't reach? no, neither is the consciousness because it is part of the soul, everyone would know this. But what if, what if I make it reveal itself?"
Words full of mixing meanings and thoughts came out Arthur's mouth before him quickly start searching for something in his computer.
Something that he discarded due its danger.
'Turn off, turn on'
Looking at the file's name it looked like something completely random. But when Arthur saw the file's name his eyes shone with a dangerous bright.
"It's all or nothing, I don't believe nothing will happen after die and revive countless times!"
Without considering any risk and chance of failing Arthur began to madly type in the advanced computer.

It continue for one hour before he finished to program his personal virtual reality cabine.
"I won't fail this time, let me see how exactly my soul will respond when I overdrive my brain and shot it of to recover repeatedly!"
If any scientist heard what he said they would call him not brilliant or innovative, no, they would directly call him of insane and crazy!
Don't he know how sensitive the brain is? Is he courting death to become brain dead or something?
But of course the world Arthur lives in things is completely different.
During his epiphany, he was able to perfectly finish the 'Turn off, turn on' project. And precisely because he himself finished it that he knows that possibility of him getting hurt is 0, otherwise why would he use himself as a experiment? He is not a idiot.
After finishing all his preparations Arthur went towards the virtual capsule and sat down. He then placed all kind of gadgets before finally lying down and closing the capsule.
Then he started the experiment.
"One cycle."
He felt the world becoming super clear before it all sudden fade and then become normal.
He tried to notice any difference in his body or mind but every thing seemed normal to him.
Then he continued
"Ten cycles."
He felt the super clear world blinking 10 times before it return to the normal.
No changes was found but Arthur wasn't worried about it, it was only the beginning.
"Hundred cycles."
The world blinked 100 times but there are no changes.
"Thousand cycles."
Even after 1000 blinks there was no change.
"Ten thousand cycles."
After 10000 cycles Arthur didn't noticed any difference. He did not knew that his senses was already a complete mess. If he knew that a changed have occurred to his body he would immediately have stopped with the experiment, because it wasn't supposed to happen, he make sure for his body to not have any reaction, unless... his soul was causing the reactions!
But he didn't calculated that he might not be able to feel the reaction caused by the soul.
"Hundred thousand cycles."

A single drop of blood came out of his nose and fell.
Arthur had no idea of the danger and continued the experiment!
"Million cycles."

Blood slightly flowed from his 7 orifices.
His condition definitely wasn't right.
But again the reckless Arthur continued.
"Ten million cycles."

The machine that showed the vital signs was crazily beeping signalizing that something was definitely wrong with Arthur's condition.
But he seemed to not hear it. He was drowned in the feeling of 'turning off and turning on'.
His 7 orifices was bloody.
With a difficult that he didn't noticed he pronounced his 'last words'.
"Hundred... million... cycles...'

Something seemed to have broken and Arthur start to feeling like loosing his senses.
His last thoughts was
'I failed again, now it is time to try one billion'

Arthur's body full of blood was in the capsule.
Nobody knew that because of what happened that day in this research center the destine of the world was fated to change!
Everything everyone knew was going to slowly flip upside down, the forgotten dreams once desired would be to become not only dreams, but reality!
