Come back Evelyn

Two years later.

Evelyn stepped onto the stage, her heeled shoes clicking against the hardwood floor. She surveyed the audience before her. There was a confident air about her that most could not put their hands to. 

Over the years, She had strived hard and long to get where she is now. She still feels like it was a dream, in just two years! 

Here she was being elected with an award, does she deserve it? 

Standing gracefully, Evelyn greeted the crowd of reporters, "Good evening, I am Evelyn Cole, the president of Flourish and Prosper. I'm truly humbled and grateful to receive this award tonight. I understand that my success is thanks to the entire team behind me. While I may not feel deserving, I am committed to taking this award and the company to greater heights. Thank you."" 

Immediately after she finished her speech reporters hollered, "What inspired you to take on such a role at a young age" 

Evelyn picked up the mic, A smile playing at the corner of her lips, "I am the Cole last of Kin" 

As soon as the words left her mouth, a hush fell over the room. The reporters were left speechless, They recalled the scandal two years ago. 

Basically, if she doesn't take over the company should it then be given to outsiders instead? 

"Any more questions?" Evelyn asked 

"Yes President Cole," A reporter said," Do you think your age played a role in your ability to lead the company to success?" 

Evelyn nodded, "I believe my age has given me a fresh perspective and allowed me to approach challenges creatively. However, our success is based on a combination of the dedication of my team" 

The reporters could not help but be in an awkward situation as she had answered many of their questions in one go. 

"Okay, last question President Cole, Looking back on your journey so far, What obstacles have you faced and how did you overcome them?" 

Evelyn pondered, "Obstacles? I think my obstacle was the lack of trust I had in myself. However, I've received support from wonderful mentors and have surrounded myself with talented individuals who have helped me" 

… 

Watching the event from the company, Evelyn slowly closed down the laptop. A little small crept up her face, 

"Good work Zhang Liu" 

She finally did it, would that person be proud? It has been two years though and he's still not back 

Assistant Zhang Blushed, he was a grown man but got flustered by a little lady's encouragement, "Thank you, president, By the way. These are a few letters I picked up this morning" 

Evelyn absentmindedly tucked a strand of her vibrant amethyst hair behind her ear. Zhang Liu often secretly pondered why she chose to keep her hair its original colour since it was a flamboyant colour it tended to evoke misconceptions amongst new business partners, who often assumed she was a spoiled heiress who had received the presidency through birthright.

"Right! Drop them, you can get back to work"

Evelyn went through them and most were invitations, She skipped a few of them. But the last caught her attention 

It was the same later on a parchment she saw two years ago. 

She finds it strange as it was always sent every month on the same date, the 28 

It always had the same message, "Come back"

But this time it seems it had more,

[You killed his family, Come back for safety. Come home, Evelyn. Liánhuā town] 

Evelyn stared at the message, her usually steady hand trembling slightly. Her eyes widened in shock and her pulse quickened. 

For a brief moment, the world seemed to spin around her, leaving her dizzy 

Dropping the paper onto the table, she sank into her chair, her mind racing as she struggled to process the message. 

This couldn't be true!! 

Who is the sender? And how does he know her? 

She could not help but wonder whether someone was playing a cruel joke on her… but Lianhua town was mentioned 

A shiver ran down her spine as she picked up her coat and left the office
