CHAPTER - XXXV

After wiping the blood from his mouth Derek used healing on himself noticing how his Hp bar was filling up and he was feeling better by the second, but he had to come to his senses when he saw Thor looking annoyed at the rest of the avengers "Have you guys lost your minds?".

"Easy there prodigal son" Tony tried to reassure him in his own way but it only made him more upset.

"You guys almost wiped out all of Manhattan" Thor retorted.

"High God perfect where were you while the world was ending?" claims Nat already exploding hearing how the supposed God (as she usually calls him) criticized them without knowing what they had been through, approaching him as if challenging him.

Thor lowered his head and took a breath trying to calm down

Thor : "I was assimilating my failures not committing New Woman!"

Just when Derek was about to say something Bruce stepped in between them being followed by Kamala "Let's see, let's see. Let's all calm down"

At that Nat stepped back and so did Thor, Derek approached her taking her hand and for a second surprising her, already having her attention he asked

Derek : "It's ok Nat, we all here understand your anger, but you know Thor better and from what I could see he sees all this differently, he's our partner so give him time to understand" listening to him Nat looked down and sighed

nat : "Thanks, it's just that hearing him talk like we were the bad guys here made me angry"

"And I understand why" Derek replied squeezing his hand a little.

"Yes Derek is right Aunt Nat let's let Professor Bruce explain what's going on" joined Cassie in their talk, Nat for her part smiled at the attempt of these two to cheer her up.

Meanwhile Bruce began to explain everything that happened so far to Thor, about how only two Inhumans managed to gather them here being the main one in this Kamala who smiled when she noticed Thor's look.

Then looked at Derek remembering that he was the one who scolded him and named him god of the hammers was standing next to Nat with Cassie noticing that they were close

Bruce: "Look Thor our plan at the moment is to take advantage of when AIM launches the Adaptoids by showing them the process of their creation to the public preventing them from being able to launch them and unmasking to the public some of the dirt that AIM has on themselves, you know those things were created from extracting the powers and torturing these inhumans." Annoyed Bruce pointed to a group of Inhumans who were helping to repair the monitors and other damage to the ship.

Nat : "And that's just the beginning, George is preparing for war."

Bruce : "Not that, it's not the worst, Kamala found something that will show us what happened to Steve"

Kamala even with nervousness approached "Hello", Thor seeing her smiled as if he remembered her "Every Hero has their moment".

"Oh, you remember me?" surprised Kamala asked him.

"Yes child, now show me the recording" Thor told them already calm.

Kamala at this approached quickly to the monitor of the room "Jarvis.... are you ready" even with nervousness to see the full video of what really happened to Cap gave the order, for her part she already knew what was going to happen but still did not know how she was going to prevent the Avengers not Bruce and Tony from trying to kill each other for being two idiots, one who blames himself and tries to keep everyone away while the other can not admit he was wrong because of his great pride, that made him have a headache, so he just had to watch.

Jarvis: "I cracked the code so there was more to see."

Everyone watched on the big screen in the room as Tarleton before his mutations typed into the computer that controlled the terrigen core until Cap appeared.

Steve : "George! We must shut down the reactor or else It will lead us right to the heat signature below us."

Tarleton: "I tried but there's no way to separate the crystal."

Steve : "Then go and seal the door!"

Tarleton: "What."

Steve : "George... Go!"

As the video continued no one knows what to think this was not what they expected to see, but the most affected was Kamala

"No, this can't be.... Not that..." who was mumbling not knowing what to do, Derek found it hard to see her like that lost without knowing what to do, seeing how little by little she was losing that glow that attracted him to her.

While in the video Tarleton was entering codes to close the room, at the moment the room was closed Cap(steve Rogers) ordered him.

Steve : "Go to the command deck"

Tarleton: "What?"

Steve : "Evacuate! Now!"

And at the end steve looked at his shield and the terrigen, he started to run trying to destroy the terrigen while Tarleton just yelled at him to stop until Cap jumps to hit the terrigen with his shield resulting in a big light, thus ending the video.

When the video ended everyone didn't know what to say, except Derek who was watching all this waiting to see how it all unfolded.

"Damn it steve" shouted Tony punching the wall leaving a small dent thanks to his armor.

"Cap smashed the reactor" said Bruce not knowing what else to do.

"He must have had a reason to do it" tried to find a reason Natasha for Steve to do that.

Derek listening to Nat was a little upset not wanting to admit why, but in the end he understood that Cap left a clue why he did it, moreover Cap himself said it something was attracting the ship or rather the reactor, maybe that made it unstable, but still he said nothing for the moment he knows that this will be a key moment for them.

"And what would that reason be, hundreds of people got infected, there were dead, Nat!" Bruce faced her as he listened to her.

"Just calm down," Tony demanded.

"No! You take the responsibility!" replied Bruce.

"There you go, that's the Bruce I know! How about you betray us again?" said Tony angrily.

"This is not the time for this Tony" Nat tried to calm Tony down.

But this time Tony exploded "No, it's okay Nat. He's been waiting for this since Golden Acres, hasn't he? Hasn't he?!" yelling at the last one making his point to everyone.

Bruce with much guilt and remorse looked at Tony "It's our fault. Everyone's. Why don't you understand?" asked Bruce.

Tony : "Or not Mr. Guilt, I understand but I also understand that you believe the stupid things you said at the hearing."

Bruce : "That was because we were danger at that time"

Tony : "So you think the world is better off without us?"

Bruce : "Yes"

At that everyone shook their heads exactly the younger ones, Natasha hearing this sighed not even knowing how to feel, Thor shook his head seeing his mates and friends arguing like that "They haven't changed" and started walking wanting to get out of there.

Derek still leaning against the wall watched it all happen but was also starting to get annoyed at how stupid Tony and Bruce could get, until Bruce digested something that seriously pissed him off.

"Look at her Tony, she has no solution. She has no cure" Bruce said as he pointed at Kamala

Bruce : "I ran experiments. I checked her DNA over and over and over and over"

This made Kamala complexed not knowing what to say and Derek looked at Bruce with intensity,

Bruce : "You and I created the PERFECT evil."

Tony : "No, actually, I did my job. I made the hard decisions."

Bruce : "Stop it Tony you know that's not true."

Tony : "I stand up for those who made me who I am, not like you."

"You know what I am, I am a monster Tony and we are what created this DISEASE" shouted Bruce as his eyes turned green and glowed with anger as he said this

Bruce was about to transform and Tony put on his helmet ready to fight, but at that Kamala stepped between them "Please stop, that's what Tarleton wants" she shouted at them.

"Don't get in the way of this girl" Tony ordered her pointing his thrusters at Bruce ready to fight, but without anyone noticing Derek appeared behind Tony, Derek just touched the armor and all the parts of the outer armor came off leaving him with only the exoskeleton of said armor.

"I think it's time for you guys to stop" said Derek looking at the surprised Tony and Bruce trying to calm down

"Look, I know you are upset and all this Cap stuff has only confused you more, but I have to clarify something we inhumans are not a disease nothing like that, that's what AIM wants us to believe" said Derek totally convinced of what he was saying, without noticing a group of inhumans were looking at him among them was Theo, Dante and Cerise who had just arrived to the command room.

Bruce: "Derek you have to understand I tried, I experimented with the inhuman DNA its cells keep multiplying like a cancer a disease this is what we created."

Derek : "No that is what you have convinced yourself of, well if so how come I am still alive Bruce, I am inhuman, but I am also a mutant I have the X gene in me, wasn't the terrigen supposed to have killed me when I was exposed to it, I already told you but not long ago I was about to die, but my powers are what allowed me to survive"

Thor who was about to leave the room heard what Derek said, he turned his gaze to where Derek was, trying to understand what he said, while the most surprised was Nat since she knew what Derek meant and it would also explain his powers like his adaptability, also why AIM is so interested in him.

"What, that's impossible, mutants together with the X-gene disappeared ten years ago" replied Tony.

"But it's the truth Tony, I am the proof that we inhumans are not a disease a plague or anything like that" shouted Derek as if he wanted everyone to hear him, at that moment he received a notification.

Derek : "Well if you don't remember Cap and Tarleton himself said it an intense heat signature was attracting the ship or rather the ship's reactor was being attracted to the heat signature, you can get an idea about what could have happened you're a genius so think about it" said Derek leaving the place

(Well I did told them I'm a mutant too, now they're going to ask me a lot of questions) he thought as he left the place and without realizing it he was followed by Kamala, Cassie, Nat, Theo, Cerise and Dante towards where Derek was heading, which was the training room.

For their part Tony, Buce, Hank and Thor stayed in the command room not knowing what to do.

Tony still watching how with a touch Derek left his armor totally vulnerable sighed and approached where the video was playing before, a few minutes later he reached the part where Cap was talking about the heat signature named by Derek only now realizing that he was right, unknowingly both Bruce, Thor and Hank watched that part of the video.

"You know I remembered what Cap once told us. People believe in the Avengers, not just because we have amazing powers, but because no matter how bad things get, or how much we fight each other, we always work together, that even if we don't see it our differences are our greatest power" Tony told them lifting the spirits of his friends and the rest of Inhumans listening to him.

"I'm sorry guys, I was a dick" apologized Tony making Bruce sigh "I'm sorry too Tony I got carried away and it brought out all the negative in me" he said making Tony smile.

"So with this the Avengers are back together and we have a villain who wants to harm the world that we have to stop, this will be a great story to tell in Asgard to hear while the warriors drink Mead"
