CHAPTER - XV

Once Derek finished reading the contents of the mission he realized that this would not be easy, because every time the system gives him a mission the difficulty doubles, that's what he has realized lately, not counting the hidden missions, that's why once the ship left the CHIMERA, he sat down on a seat next to Tony and began to create kunais of absorbing metal and charge them with the power of his flames and then save them in the inventory.

"What are you doing kid?" asked Tony seeing how Derek is creating weapons only to have them disappear into nothingness.

Derek : "I'm getting ready Tony, you know my absorbing metal has a limit to how much it can absorb per hour."

Tony : "Yes I know, when you exceed the limit it breaks or explodes."

"Exactly , that's why with the help of the runes I make them fulfill the functions like creating energy shields from the already absorbed or to attack, but at a time what I do is fill them with all the energy they can absorb before exploding and store them in my own space or personal dimension which I call inventory, in which it is not affected by time" Derek told him between truth and lie, since he did not know how to explain that he has a system like a game with missions, inventory and other things more.

After listening to Derek's explanation, Tony was very surprised to hear another application about magic.

Tony : "I must say that magic is very versatile and useful, if I managed to apply it to my technology it would be amazing, but I don't know how to apply this as it breaks the laws of physics as we know them"

"Mmm if I would put it in a more understandable way is that magic is just another type of science that works with a different set of rules" Derek told him while still concentrating on creating kunais to then charge them with his power and store them in his inventory before they explode, he also had the crazy idea of creating the spear he used against Warbot or as he likes to call it, robot spider, which they faced the last time in Tony's house.

Tony, for his part, was thinking about what Derek said, because if what he said is true, his armors would reach another level.

Tony : "Alright kid this is the plan, I will go straight to their door and ask nicely to be let in, while you will infiltrate and destroy all the information about my technology and experiments they have done with it, do you think you can bring your AI, that would make the mission easier."

Derek : "I understand, Lucy get on my cell"

"Understood Derek" and in a few seconds Lucy spoke into her cell phone "I'm in, Derek"

"Alright the next, serious part, that when I get inside we will destroy the ARK reactor they have" Tony said bitterly, which Derek noticed, but decided not to ask or object, Tony's plan.

The ship stayed still in the air, a few meters away from the big AIM building, until suddenly the hatch opened and two shadows jumped out, and then jumped from a height of more than twenty meters.

When they hit the asphalt of the road, Derek didn't do anything dramatic other than squat and roll to soften the fall from such a height by instinct, as for Tony being the king of the entrances he made his typical superhero entrance.

Tony : "Alright kid you do your part, while I do mine and be careful, if those aerial scanning platforms notice you they'll know I'm not the only one who came."

"Roger that, a and Tony be careful" said Derek to start running and disappear into the darkness of an alleyway.

"Oh you heard him Jarvis he cares about me" said Tony jokingly, and if Derek heard him he would throw a Dragon fireball in his face.

Jarvis: "Should I congratulate you sir?"

"O come on don't be a spoilsport, haaa you know what forget it" and without further ado Tony started to fly in the direction of the AIM building at high speed passing two aerial scan platforms on purpose, to give him enough time for Derek to get in without anyone noticing him.

As he passed the third scan platform some of the roofs of the AIM trucks opened up, revealing rocket launchers, which caused him to dodge the rockets they fired at him, but as he was about to fire an energy attack at them, he had to dodge a lacer, which he managed to dodge thanks to Jarvis.

Turning quickly in the air Tony saw where the attack was coming from, which was a weapon coming from the roof of one of the buildings, realizing that this would be annoying in the long run, as Jarvis detected signs of syntezoyids coming his way.

So he increased the output speed of his leg thrusters, It took him three attacks to destroy the weapons mounted on the buildings, and then he took care of the rocket launchers on the roads, descending to the ground, only being a few centimeters off the ground because he had turned on the thrusters of his legs for greater mobility and to dodge attacks at close range.

Managing to dodge three rockets at close range, to quickly raise his arms aiming at two of the three rocket launchers "Jarvis I left you the aim" and without further ado a bolt of energy hit the weapons destroying them in seconds, leaving only one rocket launcher but before the weapon fired at Stark, the shoulder armor of this rose showing four miniature rockets of which one was fired in the direction of the last weapon.

Tony : "Alright that would be all of them, now Jarvis tell me how much power do we have to use the lasers for the first time?"

Jarvis: "100% Sir"

"Alright let's get a little crazy" Tony told him to start flying in the direction of the synthezoids, which are a group of fifteen with two supreme skilled synthezoids, having made sure there were no humans he quickly descended in the middle of all the synthezoids activating the lasers on the arms of the armor and spinning quickly, then deactivating them as fast as possible, as soon as Tony deactivated the lasers all the synthezoids in a radius of ten meters fell to the ground with half of their body separated.

"That was..." but he couldn't finish speaking as he had to dodge shots from a pair of swarm drones.

Tony: "Jarvis you think you can hack those drones and get them on our side buddy?"

Jarvis: "I need forty seconds sir."

"Tony : Echo buddy, all yours, I'll just take care of dodging" he said no more, to start controlling the armor, and dodge or roll in the air or go up and down repeatedly without getting more than ten meters away from them.

Jarvis: "Sir you can stop, the drones are under my control."

"Excellent Jarvis, let me ask the kid how it's going" to connect to Derek's headset "Hey kid how's it going".

Derek : "Tony?, well I'll be right over, a few more minutes and I'll have all the Stark tech files."

"Alright kid, keep it up in a few minutes I'm going into the AIM base" he said, to cut the communication with Derek and start flying to the AIM lab.

Jarvis: "Multiple enemies detected, I advise caution."

Tony had to dodge multiple laser shots, rockets coming from the walls of the lab door.

"Jarvis control the rockets aimed at the shoulders and destroy those nuisances" Jarvis did as Tony ordered and from the shoulder armor lifted up revealing three rounds which contained four miniature rockets and fired in the direction of the AIM weapons being controlled by Jarvis hit the target causing several explosions.

Jarvis: "Get me close enough to the access node long enough to hack it, and don't move more than five meters or you will disrupt the hack, I will give you control of the drones, you can control them by voice commands sir, I wish you luck."

"Well this will be just like old times" said Tony raising his arms ready to fire, until suddenly purple portals began to appear from which synthezoids, supreme skilled synthezoids, vigilantes and swarm drones came out in large numbers.

"Alright I think it's time to test these energy shields" without further Tony activated them, and as if it was a signal all the synthezoids launched themselves at Stark only to collide with his shield which kept them away from him, which Tony took advantage of to start shooting energy beams from his arms for a few minutes, destroying some synthezoids and one or another drone.

When he saw the screen he realized that only 20% of energy was left in the shield, so he ordered three drones to take care of the remaining drones and the last two of the vigilantes as they would be the most annoying but he ordered them not to kill them because they are human.

When shield disappeared Tony charged a beam firing with all possible power, directing it from left to right so that it affected as many synthezoids as possible, the drones were not left behind, the first three began to shoot at the closest drones left and right while the remaining two knocked out the only two vigilantes before they could react.

After firing the beam Tony saw that there were only four synthezoids and a supreme skilled synthezoid, without leaving them space for anything he accelerated to maximum power with the thrusters of his legs hitting a synthezoid in the head with the momentum of speed causing it to move back a few steps and then fired two energy beams to follow the next one which grabbed his neck to use it as a shield from the attacks of the supreme skilled synyteyzoid.

Once the attack was over, he pointed his arm in the direction of this one and fired a small blue rocket hitting the supreme skilled synthezoid in the leg, stopping it for a few minutes.

Realizing that he still had two more synthezoids left, he threw the one he had in his hand towards the other synthezoid as a distraction so when he was as close as possible he could shoot the synthezoid in the reactor of his chest and explode with the synthezoid leaving only one, which was approaching him running.

Tony just raised his arms and with a greater power shot him an energy beam which left a big hole in his chest and fell to the ground as if nothing had happened.

Turning quickly, Tony accelerated to the supremely skilled Synthezoid which was busy with the five drones that Jarvis left him that luckily for him none had been destroyed so far, the Synthezoid began to use his spear and shoot at the drones which dodged all his attacks.

Although they did not do much damage to the drone attacks, the damage was accumulating little by little and Tony took advantage of this to charge an beam attack, which only took him ten seconds that the drones beat him, once the beam was charged he fired it, by the time the synthezoid realized he tried to use his spear as a shield but it didn't last long before the spear melted and the attack hit it full on causing it to explode.

"If that would be all of them..." but at that another larger purple portal appeared, from which a monotonic Exo came out "Me and my big mouth..., Jarvis how much longer do you need."

Jarvis: "five minutes Sir."

"All right, guys shoot him with everything you've got" Tony ordered the five drones, which began to attack, while Stark fired freeze rays from his gloves freezing the knee of the huge mechanical armor, making the movements of this become more clumsy which he took the opportunity to fly and begin to surround it and shoot freezing attacks to the other joints of the armor which he had to do for three minutes until the machine barely moved, which took the opportunity to reach the back of the great armor and scan it quickly for a weak point, which he found but no matter how many times he attacked with energy rays that part of the armor did not yield.

"Wow it seems that George did strengthen the weak point of the armor, very well let's see how it goes with my lasers" said Tony to begin to load the laser in his left arm and then shoot it, which if he managed to go through the armor and managed to see the reactor that makes it work, but just when he was about to destroy it a large metal claw held him.

"What, or hell so it's already thawed" he said seeing that the claw was from the same armor "It was so close, well it looks like it will be the hard way" and without further ado Tony fired an beam from his chest destroying the arm that was holding him.

Jarvis: "Sir I'm done, you can go in."

"O at last Jarvis, how about you help me finish this clown"

Jarvis: "At your command."

Jarvis began to control the drones, distracting the enemy giving him the opportunity that Stark wanted, he flew quickly positioning himself behind his back and through it to then take out the reactor that makes it work and crush it in his hand, once it stopped moving Tony broke the front part to take the pilot out of the ship and knock him out, to then leave him lying on the ground.

"UFF at last it looks like we haven't lost touch buddy, boy I'm coming in" once the doors opened Tony walked in, but he was also looking at the map of the building that Jarvis gave him "mmm looks like the lab is downstairs" he said until suddenly Derek spoke to him.

Derek : "Tony this is bad AIM has initiated the self destruct sequence of the ARK reactor."

Tony : "This is bad if the ARK reactor blows up, explosion will take out half the city, we can't let that happen, I won't let AIM destroy another city, Derek tell me is Lucy done hacking into all the Stark technology and experimenting with it."

Derek : "We just finished that, now I'm heading to where the reactor is, I'm two minutes away."

Tony : "Alright kid it's time to show AIM and the world that the Avengers are back."

POV Derek

Once Derek disappeared in the alley, he climbed the building towards the AIM lab, when he managed to see the giant building where the AIM lab is located he activated stealth and started jumping from building to building so that none of the AIM patrols would notice him

Once he arrived without anyone noticing him he had Lucy show him the layout of the building and look for the nearest entrance, when he found an entrance, which is a ventilation duct, he entered through there as quietly and carefully as he could.

Lucy: "Derek you must be careful because these ventilation ducts have infrared and motion sensors, when you are close to them I will deactivate them, the address of the command computer with all the information is located one floor below."

After fifteen minutes in the ducts and with the help of Lucy deactivating any infrared or motion sensor which earned him three levels of stealth skill making his movements became smoother and more precise, when he managed to reach where all the information is protected in a large computer, he opened the hatch in the ceiling falling without any noise he approached the computer to connect his phone.

Once Derek connected his phone he let Lucy do her job, he didn't stay idle he started to look for other projects or anything that AIM was doing, when ten minutes passed he found a folder with the name ADAPTOID in which he could see the image of a completely humanoid robot.

ADAPTOID

(Shit this is bad, they are already creating adaptoids, I have to take all the information I can get about adaptoids and show it to the team) thought Derek, while he took out a memory of his invention and connected it to the computer and copied everything he could about that project.

Suddenly Tony spoke into his earpiece telling him that he got in, he was about to answer him but out of nowhere he started a self destruct sequence of the ARK reactor which marked twenty minutes.

"Tony this is bad AIM has initiated the ARK reactor self-destruct sequence" said Derek to Tony, to which he replied that they had to avoid the destruction of the reactor since it would take half the city something he already knew, having already upgraded the reactor of the ship he could already get an idea of the destruction that such an explosion would create.

Lucy: "Derek, I have all the data we can go where the reactor is."

Since he didn't need anyone to notice him, it was time to destroy everything in his path, Derek raised his left leg to stomp on the metallic floor of the room with all his strength creating waves on the metal floor.

Lucy: "Derek that wasn't necessary"

"I know, but I just wanted to blow off some steam, a little, come on we have to stop an explosion" Derek told her to break down the door and run with his superhuman speed, not forgetting to cover his entire body in absorbing metal scales, starting to destroy any synthezoid that got in his way with Lucy directing him to the fastest way to get to the reactor.
