And she would have continued to play her part as the feral pet, but what happens when Dimitri appears? A cold and calculative man, who appeared in what she thought would be her last moments. So what happens when he’s out on a mission and meets a creature he quickly wants to dismiss? A creature that he had no interest in until he met her eyes. How exactly is Dimitri going to carefully piece Kayda back together again? And how is Kayda going to react to the unfamiliar kindness shown by a stranger? What’s his motive? ———————- “So, your saying, that because you saved me from death, I’m now in your debt?” Kayda was intrigued but at the same time annoyed, seeing the charming tilt in Dimitri’s lips. And as she stared, Dimitri reveled in her gaze. “You could say that.” His mischievous voice didn’t go unnoticed and Kayda felt a slight twitch at the corner of her lip. With a glow in her eyes, she walked up to Dimitri who was staring her down. “I’ll repay a favor. But I’ll never be in your debt.” Slamming a hand down, she growled. “The Goddess wanted me dead for a reason. You’re lucky I don’t show you why.” Dimitri grinned with amusement when suddenly, his hand snaked its way around her waist. “Even the Goddess can’t take you away from me.” He whispered. ————————————- ‘The cover was not made, and is not owned by me. : A Cold Gaze

A loud slam resounded in the room.

Dr. Myer was overbearingly leaning over Dimitri's Desk as she came face-to-face with him with her eyes blazing and her face turning a shade of red showcasing her anger.

Unflinching, Dimitri's deep and icy eyes continued to pool over his emotions, creating the image of a nonchalant noble.

"Is there anything else, Dr. Myer."

With words that made the air frosty, the once raging Dr. Myer was once again cooled by his autocratic voice.

Taking her hands off his desks, she held her head, feeling a dull ache pound against the inside of her skull. How in the world did she come into service under such an austere man?

He wasn't just cold, he was dense, uncaring, and not at all educated in the affair of human emotions. It was like taking orders from an ice block.

Dimitri looked at Dr. Myer. His eyes could see her obviously cursing him in her mind, but it couldn't prevent him from catching on to her silent curses.

A cold and unsympathetic smile formed from us lips as his crescent eyes held an imposing and deep impatience that seemed to ooze out of his every pore.

"Dr. Myers." His deep and magnetic voice pulled her out of her thoughts. "If you have nothing else to say, then leave."

Dr. Myer shivered. She had really crossed the line this time. She noticed that he was still holding the pen he was using to fill out the documents that she had flung to the floor in her earlier outburst of rage.

With a pale face, she bowed to him. She knew she shouldn't test his patience, but as a doctor, she still had some thoughts she needed to share before she fled the scene.

"My lord, miss Kayda is in no position to be eating as much as she is. If she doesn't get the needed protein, her body will collapse. Even with the medication I am giving her." Dr. Myer resolutely finished her scientince before doing a complete one eighty and grabbed her bag while turning on her heels to head for the door.

"If that's all, I'll see myself out. Bye." Without wasting a second, she rushed out the door without pausing for a single second.

Dimitri didn't react much. All he did was sigh before getting up to pick up all the papers that Dr. Myer had so daringly thrown about.

His long fingers elegantly placed each paper in a neat pile. Even bent over, his figure exuded a domineering elegance. It was a pity that his cold eyes would repel any soul which wanted to claim this untainted beauty.

Sitting back behind his desk, his face still held cool and stone like features without change. But even after a second, the pen in his hand did not move. His mind was stuck on the words Dr. Myer had said to him.

Then his mind wandered to a pale and thin face. Her entire body was wrought by life. But her eyes, past the veil of mist that dulled their beauty, he saw only a glimpse of a stubborn luster that refused to be doused out by the pain.

He could not deny that he was intrigued. It wasn't his first time seeing a slave in her condition. But her eyes, he had never seen one with such eyes. While all the others had let their experiences and pain break them down, she had obviously let it serve as an experience.

With a cold look in his eyes, he gritted his teeth as he placed the pen in his hand down on his desk. He wouldn't be able to concentrate on his work anymore thanks to what Dr. Myer had said. After a few more moments, he called for butler Stevens.

Inside the guest bedroom Kayda was staying in, the sound of water could be heard echoing through the bathroom door.

Inside, Kayda was rigorously scrubbing at her skin. She didn't feel as disgusted when Dr. Myer had touched her with her gloved hands, but having to take off her clothes pushed her over a line she didn't want to cross.

So like an uncontrollable instinct, her body dragged her into the bathroom to scrub at her skin. Her only string of consciousness allowing her to avoid getting her wrapped wounds wet. The last thing she wanted was to be touched again.

Once she was done, she went back into the room fully dressed in a blouse and pants.

It was so quiet. Sometimes she rarely saw a soul. She never left this room. It was the safest but most dangerous place she could be in this large mansion that could consume her if she were to take just one turn.

It really made her hate for nobles rise to a new level.

Living so extravagantly in a maze just made her 'appreciation' for them just added onto a long list she already had.

With a sigh, she dragged her hand through her short hair and sat back down against the window seal. This action became a little more boring each time she performed it.

When she looked out, the familiar courtyard greeted her. She rarely saw people pass through but when she did, it reminded her that she wasn't the only living soul nearby.

After a few minutes of watching a little sparrow jump from branch to branch, some movement was caught in the corner of her eye. Looking over, her eyes spotted a group of guards that were chatting merely with their arms draped over each other's necks.

They each had a sword at their hip and bright smiles on their faces as they playfully punched each other while making their way through.

At first, she wasn't at all intrigued. She was just about to look away when she saw someone walking at the back of the group.

He had a lazy smile on his face as his soft features warmed while looking ahead. With short umber hair and naturally squinted brown eyes, he looked like his eyes were always smiling. He would have been even more charming if it wasn't for the scary large scar that traced its way from his chin all the way to hide under the collar of his shirt.

Kayda's eyes widened. Her hands trembled as her lips quivered in pain.

Instinctively, she reached out, a sharp pain in her chest shot through her body all the way to her mind, urging her to run to him.

Without a single shred of hesitation, she broke the locks on the window expertly.

As silent as a feather, she jumped out and scaled her way down a tree near the window.

With trembling hands, she held into its bark, hiding herself away behind the tree while her gaze followed the man.

Micheal was just making his way through a courtyard with his companions as a shortcut through the large mansion.

A light smile naturally hung on his face while he watched his comrades horse around even though he knew they would be punished if they were found cutting through the mansion.

But suddenly, the atmosphere was broken. Michael's eyes turned sharp and cautious.

He felt an unfamiliar gaze on him.

Pausing in his steps, he looked around. His comrades quickly noticed his actions.

"Oi O'Mally. What's the delay? You hold us up then you're buying our next meal."

"Ya, move your butt. All the food will be gone by the time we get there with your slow pace."

Michael didn't move. After a second, he turned to look at the guys with a warm and charming smile on his face. "You guys go ahead. I just remembered that I left a document for the chief behind." His excuse was performed perfectly and the other guys didn't doubt a thing.

A few of the guys tisked while others just shook their heads regrettably.

"Your loss O'Mally."

"Don't expect us to save you any food."

Michael laughed. "With your feminine stomach, I don't think I have anything to worry about."

The men all laughed. "You calling me a woman O'Mally."

"Just drop it. Let's go guys."

"See you later."

They all walked away. Michaels warm smile instantly disappeared as his eyes alertly looked at the spot he felt the gaze originate from.

The gaze held no malice or killing intent. But the way it bore into him made him feel uncomfortable and very few could make him feel that way. So his body became alert.

With a hand hovering over his sword, he commandingly spoke in a large voice after all the guys had gone out of hearing range.

"Come out. I know your hiding over there."
