Flashback 41

“You said later. When is later? It’s been three?” RuIng said, and Sevir jumped. The branch shook, and the crystal rolled. Sevir caught it quickly.

“What? Where are you? Is that a tree? Are you naked?”

Sevir smiled ruefully with a finger on his lips. “I underestimated their manpower.”

“Man power?”

“The number of people they had coming for me?”

RuIng’s eyes wandered to every bit of his skin before he narrowed his eyes. “further away from your body.”

Sevir followed, “it is not my blood,” and pointed to the splatters of red all over his body.

RuIng relaxed. “How many did you get? How many are left?”

“About half were left. Now only one third remain.”

“What did you do?”

“I got to wipe them out today. We don’t have time before the winter solstice.”

RuIng pupils shook. Sevir didn’t explain further. “I have to go.”

“Do not die on me.”

Sevir smiled, and RuIng was gone. He placed the crystal in a safer crook of the tree.
