Grinding Quests

The Great Kingdom of Fiona, a country that houses many great mages and people. The kingdom was a mountain range which dwelled within the continent of Ishgar with the other Kingdoms.

It is bordered by two other kingdoms: the Star Kingdom to the north and the Heart Kingdom to the south. The Asura Kingdom lies to the west and a sea lies to the east.

It is a state in which the current regime is a monarchy and is ruled by the King, who is the head of the government. Next to the King is the power exercised by the government.

The part of the government which is in charge of the judiciary authority of the kingdom is the Magic Council. Members of the council are in charge of trying all mages and non-mages crimes. Once a decision has been made, it is rarely overturned.

The soldiers of the Kingdom of Fiona are called Magic Knights and are responsible for the protection of the kingdom.

The Fiona kingdom has 3 Great Royal Families which are the House Shiba, House Silva and the House Phoenix. The three families live together in the royal capital.

Most members of the magic council are nobles and royals from the big families.

Somewhere in Silkesh city which is also called the Silver city, a young man can be seen walking towards the guild.

He had spiky black hair and charcoal grey eyes with a lean and muscular build. he is currently wearing a open-collared, one-sleeved long, gold trimmed, black waistcoat which was tucked in and zipped with a white scale-patterned scarf around his neck. The sleeve covers boy's left arm with a faux leather brown armband, leaving his entire right arm, consequently exposed, revealing a flame tattoo on his right shoulder and a thick black wristband on his right wrist.

He was also wearing a gold trimmed, black cloth around his waist that reaches his knees, held by a leather brown belt with an oval-shaped silver buckle, white knee-length trousers with black ribbon ties, and black open-toed sandals.

This young man was obviously Kai.

It has been seven days since he returned and he had been busy ever since, he needed to pay off his debt so he couldn't laze around like he planned.

"Working as an adventurer is so exhausting!" Kai grumbled as he kept walking towards the guild.

Adventurers is a well known occupation within the continent of Ishgar. They accept jobs from the guild and upon completion, they receive valis for their services.

When one first registers as an adventurer, they receive an adventurer cards that proofs their identify as an official adventurer. And then they will be able to take jobs from the guild and complete them.

Each job has its own rank and an adventurer can only take jobs within one above or below their current rank. For example, a E rank adventurer will be able to take D rank jobs but can't take jobs from C rank and above.

But an adventurer can promote their rank upon completing a certain amount of jobs. For example, a E rank adventurer will have to complete 10 E rank jobs or 5 D rank jobs to promote to be the next rank.

However, There is also a rank demotion if one repeatedly fails to clear the jobs.

Therefore, in order to lessen the difficulty of the job, one can choose to create a party to complete the job. On completion of a job, all members of the party will receive equal payment.

Kai have spent this few days grinding jobs in order to increase his rank and gather money. Currently, he's at rank C which is a noticeable improvement from his previous rank E but he was not satisfied with his improvement.

He wanted to reach A rank as quick as possible. To buy a good house, one would need 800,000 valis or above. High ranking jobs pays more valis than low ranking jobs. However, as the rank of the jobs increases, the difficulty of the jobs also increases.

Kai had already saved more than enough money to pay off his debt so he was planning on getting more money so he could buy a house.

That's not all of his problems. Lyon, Elsie and the rest of the night owls didn't know that he was alive and they were currently on a job to subjugate a magic beast with the rank AA so he had no way to reach them.

Lyon and Elsie had both become AA rank adventurers with Elsie close reaching S rank. It appears that they increased in rank during the five months when he was missing.

Therefore, he couldn't keep falling behind them so he definitely had to increase his rank.

"Oh right, I almost forgot because I was too busy. I need to learn more about the dragon race." Kai thought. True he did forget to research about the dragon race when he got back because of his money situation.

But that was not his most important priority right now, so he decided that after he had completed his job, he will go to the city's library to research about the dragon race.

Having come to a conclusion, he finally arrived inside the guild association. The first thing one would think when the name guild is mentioned, would be a building filled with thugs seated around wooden tables drinking beer.

Instead, the guild association was a place of prestige and luxury. The marble structure towered over Kai like a sacred museum. There were tables made of metal where other adventurers glanced at Kai as he passed.

"Welcome! How many I help you?" The beautiful receptionist said with a rehearsed smile.

"I need a B rank job." Kai said nonchalantly.

"Oh, of course, of course." The receptionist answered, nodding her head before picking up a piece of paper and giving it to Kai.

"Subjugation of Terminate Boars in the Sun village. Wait, isn't the Sun village near the southwest border of the Fiona Kingdom?" Kai mumbled. It seems it will take him time before he gets there.

"Here I thought I will finish this fast." Kai thought as he left the Guild hall.
