Blades of the Zypher

Kinta was standing in an open field. A breeze seemed to manifest itself from nowhere as the surrounding grass swayed with a beautiful uniformity. The morning air was crisp and calm. Like the world had yet to wake up and was slowly in the process of doing so. His eyes where closed and his hand slightly raised. The air was shimmering under his hands as green mage force gathering. The whole area was saturated with wind element. As he stood in concentration and thought hard about what the matriarch told him earlier.

"Kinta, in the up coming weeks. You and Zekith will be tested to be enrolled into the Magi school St. Hope. Neither Krom nor I will be able to protect either of you. I know you see Zekith as a rival. You both are the most talented kids to come from the younger generation in many years. But, as the older cousin can I count on you to look after Zekith? He's smart but impulsive and that can get him into trouble. I need you to make sure he doesn't get himself killed. Can you do that for me?"

"Yes ma'am." He lowered his eyes and replied.

"Okay, Let me look at you." Aunt Pol's eyes turned ice blue and the temperature in the area dropped several degrees as she took a deep look at Kinta. "Right now you are eleven and have reach the first level as a physical warrior. For that I must commend you. You are a talented kid with the elemental affinity of wind. But, you know nothing of mage force nor do you have any Magi spells. At your current level you will not make it into the Magi school. This is a problem. St. Hope requires that anyone under 15 must have a mage force of a level two Magi to enter. They care nothing of physical ability. This is a school of nobility and physical prowess is not a priority." Aunt Pol was serious. He looked at this distant aunt is confusion. Suddenly he felt a massive amount of pressure weighing on his shoulders. The look on the matriarchs face made him feel small and insignificant. He's never really had very much contact or interaction with this imposing and distant aunt while in Ra village. So he didn't know how he was supposed to respond to her analysis so he opted to say nothing. "Don't be to discouraged all isn't lost." She flipped her hand and a weird shaped green gem attached to a golden necklace appeared there. "The reason I had you go to the library after training was for you to get this gem. Only I forgot the I actually had it within my possessions. This a unique core. You can tell because this core isn't round and there is no power that radiates out. It is all contained with. When you look at a normal core. A simple glace and you can tell the power level of the beast the was slain. With this type of core. If one doesn't have an affinity to the core you will feel nothing. The village has had this core for over 1000 years. The last user became a great figure on Turtle Island as was said to be the closest to becoming an Exalted from the Ra clan in a millennia. Her death was a mystery and we could never solve it. The only thing we have retained is this core. Yet there hasn't been a child blessed by the wind to be born to the Ra clan in generations. Then you came along." She hands the unique core to Kinta. "Fate and destiny are things that are determined by the choices we make. A decision today can effect a decision made many years in the future. I believe that this gem was fated to reside with you. What you decide to do with it will determine your destiny."

Almost as soon as Kinta had this strange looking core in his hand it began to glow rhythmically. The wind in the area picked up as if something had finally awakened. Kinta was really surprised as he looked at the unique core a little more carefully. Swoosh! Swoosh! He saw two distinct movements in the core. Suddenly a thought came to his mind. He placed the unique core into his pocket. Pointing his hands at a nearby tree. To the surprise of Aunt Pol green mage force began to gather. Kinta then said in a clear voice. "I call upon the power of the wind. Please grate me your power. Zypher Blades." A pair of green sabers erupted from his hands. Swoosh! Swoosh! Cutting the tree cleanly in an ex shape. Slice! Slice! Leaving two deep lacerations in the tree. Kinta stood there in shock. Just looking at his hands.

"How did you do that?" Aunt Pol asked in astonishment.

Kinta looked away from his hands and then at Aunt Pol. "The core gave me a feeling. This feeling was similar to when Zekith gathered mage force. But it felt like it was suited to me. However, the words were modified from the spell he said. Do you remember seeing that wall that he made yesterday? He called it a geo wall. Geo is Earth and wall is what he created. So I used his words but changed to be suited for the wind. Zypher is a root word like Geo, Aqua, and Pyro. The thing I wanted to create were blades so that's what I said." He squeezed his hands together reminding himself of the feeling he just had a few times. "I'm going to train. I want to understand the power of this unique core." Before Aunt Pol could answer Kinta was gone.

It was evening now and the sun was setting. The whole area was devoid of animals so the was no danger. The breeze was gentle and carried with it the fragrance of wild flowers and ripe berries. In an open field Kinta was seated cross legged. His breathing was steady and measure his eyes were closed and the unique core was in his lap. Glowing rhythmically in tuned to his breathing. Green mage force was gathering slowly. As the wind mage force moved its way around Kinta and ultimately through him. It formed many long streams of energy. They looked like floating green rivers or green streamers you would see at a party. From these little rivers of energy he was absorbing the wind force to increase his capacity. What he didn't know was that a normal magi only had one stream of energy that they could use to absorb mage force and people with talent would have two or three. In his very natural state of concentration Kinta has nine sources of mage force that he is using to absorb energy. Although it didn't look like it his absorption speed was incredible. Suddenly Kinta began to glow. His whole body was covered by a layer of green wind mage force. His face grimaced in pain. He couldn't take any more in. The energy in his body was looking for a destination and found it in his head. There the energy streamed in like an open floodgate. A stream became a river. The river became a delta. The delta became a pond. There was still more energy but at this point Kinta was at compacity. He felt like his threshold was already exceeding the limit. The pain was surprising, completely unexpected. Crackle! Bang! An explosion of energy was released. He no longer felt the pain he felt only a little while before. Actual he was feeling good. That energy that was filling his body. No longer made him feel pain and bloated like a balloon. Now he was feeling quite calm and he was thinking clearly as he looked upon his now lake of energy that was green in color. "I've reached the starting point. Level one Magi and Level one Warrior."
