The Return Of A Hero

Later on, Goten flies to Capsule Corp to tell Trunks the good news about him being able to enter the tournament. He knocks on the door, but when it opens he sees Bulla wearing a long sweatshirt, getting ready for bed.

Gotens face immediately turns red as he sees her legs, not expecting to see her come to the door. Bulla smiles at Goten, being both surprised and happy that he's here.

"Hey Goten. What brings you here at this hour. Came to sneak a peek at me in my night wear?" Bulla asks, moving close to Goten, being very flirtatious towards him.

Gotens face becomes even more red as he nervously smiles, rubs the back of his neck, and stumbles over his words.

"Well-uh- I was just- you know- it's really- it's more like."

At that moment, Bulla's mom, Bulma soon approaches and sees Goten at the door.

"Oh, Goten, how's it going?" Bulma asks with a smile.

Goten grins uncontrollably

"Oh, hey Bulma. I hope it's ok for me to drop by like this."

"Of course, you're always welcomed here. Come on in, Trunks is inside."

Goten walks inside while sharing a look with Bulla, the two smiling at each other. Bulma notices this, being surprised but smiling none the less.

While Trunks is playing video games, he looks over and sees Goten.

"Hey man, what's going on?" Trunks says.

Goten smiles.

"Well, my mom said I could enter the tournament. So I was wondering if you wanted to start training for it tomorrow."

Trunks thinks for a moment.

"That's a nice thought. But I'm gonna have to decline."Trunks says.

Goten is confused

"But why?" Goten asks.

"Come on man, we're going to be competing against each other in the tournament. It's not a good idea for us to see our moves, especially since it's obvious we're going to face each other in the finals." Trunks says with a smirk.

Goten smiles.

"True, that does make sense." Goten says.

"Besides, no offense, but I've been stronger than you since we were kids, I don't think I need training." Trunks says.

While this annoys Bulla, Vegeta over hears this.

"Hold on a second. Goten, this tournament, is Gohan entering?" Vegeta asks.

Goten thinks for a moment.

"I don't know, I haven't asked him yet. He might, to impress Vidal's dad."

Vegeta smirks.

"Well, all the same, I think I'll enter this little tournament."

Vegeta's family is shocked, but Goten gets excited about Vegeta joining the tournament.

"It's been awhile since I've seen any action. Plus I want to test a theory I have. Back in the day, Gohan may have had the upper hand in raw power, but peace has made him soft. There's not a doubt in my mind that I have closed the gap between us." Vegeta says with a smirk.

Bulma scoffs

"Trains like a madman, but he still can't find a job and see how strong they can get. Goku was the same way. There must be something in the Saiyan blood that makes them allergic to work, well except Gohan." Bulma says.

Bulla agrees with her mom.

"Boys will be boys, mom." Bulla says

"Woah, Gohan and dad? Alright, I might have to train a little bit." Trunks says.

Meanwhile Goten is excited.

"This gonna be awesome! I can't wait." Goten says.

Vegeta notices the excitement in Goten and is a bit surprised by this.

"Tell me, why are you so excited?" Vegeta asks.

A determined smirk appears on Gotens face.

"Well, you're not the only one who's been looking for some action, Vegeta. Now that you're going to enter, it's gonna be way more fun." Goten says.

Vegeta smirks, while Bulla secretly swoons over Goten confidents. Trunks gets surprised by Gotens confidence, but tries to follow his lead.

"Yeah- dad- it'll be. Fun." Trunks nervously says.

Vegeta laughs.

"Well, you both better not hold anything back. You're representing the Saiyan race, so the two of you must aim to win."

Both Goten and Trunks look at each other for a moment, then share a fist bump.

"Right." They both say.

Pride begins to grow in Vegeta, secretly proud of both boys for living up to their Saiyan blood. Bulma can't help but smile, seeing the side of her husband that she loves, and Bulla smiles seeing Goten in a different light.

"Sign me up too!" A voice says.

Everyone is surprised and confused, unsure where the voice is coming from.

"Ok, I'm not the only one who heard that voice, right?" Bulla asks.

"Is that who I think it is? Could it really be Kakarot?" Vegeta asks.

Goten, Trunks, and Bulla are confused.

"Kaka- what?" Goten asks.

A big smile appears on Bulma's face.

"Goku, is that you?" Bulma asks.

When Goten hears that name, he is stunned.

"My- dad?" Goten silently asks.

In other world, with his hand on King Kai's back, Goku talks to the living world.

"Hey, long time no see!" Goku says.

Vegeta smirks.

"Kakarot. You can't be serious, how's a dead man actually going to enter the tournament?" Vegeta asks.

Goku chuckles.

"Well, turns out if I ask her nicely, fortune teller Baba will give me a day pass to earth. Pretty neat, huh? Figure this'll be a good time to use it. And if Vegeta, Gohan, and Goten are doing the tournament, then I am too."

As Vegeta and Bulma are excited about this, for different reasons, Goten, Bulla, and Trunks are still a little shocked by all of this.

"I hope you're prepared, Kakarot. I've had a lot of time to train. I'd say my skills are sharper than ever." Vegeta says.

Goku smirks.

"I'm not surprised, Vegeta. I've trained a lot too. This is gonna be fun."

"Yes, I'm looking forward to the rematch." Vegeta adds.

Bulma chuckles

"Well, would you look at that, he's back. Chichi's gonna flip when she hears the news. Not to mention Krillin and the others." Bulma says.

Goten just stands there, all of a sudden nervous about seeing the father that he's heard so much about, the father that he has never met before.

"Oh and Goten..." Goku says.

Goten looks up in anticipation.

"I'm really excited to meet you in person, son. Remember to keep your training up, I can't wait to see how strong you are."

These words motivate Goten even more than he already was.

"Right." Goten says with a determined smile

As Goku's voice fades, Goten realizes that he has even more reasons to fight and win.
